1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engine failures
Neal_R replied to DGW's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Oil scraper rings. Needs new pistons and ideally new conrods (23mm wrist pin upgrades). The oil being burned with the fuel and air is the problem, not the plugs or coils. You'll be throwing money away. Change the plugs but look to get those 2 changed or move the car on. Been researching this for nearly 12 months now. Good luck mate. -

Where is that screenshot from? Do you have the rest of that publication? Getting my 1.8 CDAA nightmare rebuilt and any data is very much appreciated. -

Do you have the rest of that guide? Looks very handy. -
Hi all, Would really like some feedback on this - it relates to the ongoing oil consumption issue plaguing certain Gen 2 EA888s (Poorly designed piston rings) I know there is an ongoing sticky thread with some great advice on there but I'd love some information on replacement engines. If anybody can advise on the best route to take - whether to source a new engine (not sure if this can be done without being a registered company within the trade?) and have it replaced or to drop a newer, compatible version of an EA888 that doesnt have this oil ring issue? My engine is 1.8 CDAA 118KW 4x4s 6-Speed in an 2010 Octavia scout Ideally, if I'm spending thousands replacing the engine I want to upgrade to the most powerful and reliable I can get for my money - all ideas welcome. Can I put a 2.0L engine in there (with other systems upgraded and addressed accordingly) or is the 2.0 completely different? Opinions (as well as advice) welcome, but if we can keep the shoulda woulda coulda to a minimum, I'd appreciate the help.

Bolero BT, and a dealer laugh
Neal_R replied to Quinny1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Hi All I have a Bolero head unit and I'm looking for a DAB upgrade and BT capability - the only services I listen to are Talksport and the MW reception is full of distortion. If it helps, my phone is android. Can anybody recommend a solution that is practical - Ideally something that is, or that looks like a stock front unit - no silly lights or chrome or other such nonsense. All (serious) suggestions appreciated. TIA -

I dont suppose you have the OEM part numbers for the parts used? Exact same issue with my CDAA 1.8 TSI
