  1. To be fair this is also our first Skoda and we really enjoy it. It's very good value for money, seems well built too. Just a little shame about the gearbox issue. I specifically hunt for a low mileage full service history car to avoid potential issues. We need occasional 6/7 seats so not many options around within budget, hence went for the Kodiaq. Our last family car was a 3.0 Tdi Q7. It's big, comfy and powerful but started developing issues so we sold it. Car is mainly driven by my wife so mostly just short trip around town which is not great for diesels. Perhaps the 2.0 litre TSi would be a better fit for the DSG box?
  2. Yes, this is definitely my plan once my extended warranty expires in September. At least it's another 2 years peace of mind. This is my first DSG box and to be honest probably my last. I have had automatics in the past and never had such issues, especially on low mileage car.
  3. Cheers, I will have a look. That looks like good value. There is a service due which I was originally planning to get it done at local garage but have changed my mind and will let Skoda do it. If the car is not serviced at Skoda I am guessing the warranty will not be honoured?
  4. I believe it was the mechatronic when she mentioned on the phone. When I went to pick my car up the service advisor was on lunch. The person who did the handover doesn't seem to know much, she didn't even know how to read from the work sheet. Just said they need to order some special parts. I have asked for someone to ring me back and go from there. If it's indeed the mechatronic unit I am very surprised it failed on a 3 year old car on 21k miles...
  5. I had to call few dealerships as was given a month lead time. Found a dealership willing to have a look today. It’s the mechatronic unit and they have to order it in and have to book the car in another day. They asked me to collect car so I am guessing should be ok to drive in meantime. I’ve asked if extended warranty will cover this and was told I need to speak to the warranty advisor. Fingers crossed.
  6. The below is what's covered on my Skoda Approved Used warranty. It says Roadside Assistance and reading through the booklet this is the same as AA National Recovery and Onward Travel (which I have just also added to my AA membership...) I don't think I can call them out if my car is currently at home though.
  7. Thanks again. I think I will wait until tomorrow and talk to the dealership. Courtesy car would be great as the closest dealership is about 30 miles away. My concern about getting AA out now is that there would be issues recovering to a dealership as they are closed.
  8. Thanks for this Teir. The approved used warranty expires in September 2022 so I am in luck. According to the approved used booklet it should cover any major electrical or mechical issues so fingers crossed most if not all costs are covered. My only concern is getting this booked into a Skoda dealership. From my previous BMW experience dealerships are not keen on warranty work.
  9. Many thanks for advice roottoot. I've called local dealership and they said call again tomorrow. Regarding reg number, I'd rather not post on public forums but happy to private message if any kind members can help.
  10. edit: called wrong number. The Skoda Assist number given in the booklet connects to AA. I don't think AA would be able to help much without arrangment with dealership in my case. Spoken to my localish dealership and they said give them a call tomorrow to discuss. Hopefully they will take the car in 😞
  11. This is what the booklet says. Tempted to call Skoda Assist but not too sure if this is classed as a breakdown.
  12. It does say in the booklet that I can call, however technically it's not a breakdown as I am now at home.
  13. Many thanks for highlighing this! Just found our Skoda Appoved Used warranty details dated 13th September. I will have a look and get this booked in. As to your other questions regarding service campaing software updates, I am not sure how to get this information. However I have the email from the regional manager who corrected the electronic service history so I would get in touch to ask. Hmm, that dealership is 200 odd miles away. I don't really think it's safe for me to drive that far. Does it have to be the supplying dealer?
  14. Yes, it was bought from an official Skoda Dealership back in September. I didn't realise that there is an approved used warranty that covers this? I might make an enquiry to see if I can get this booked in.
  15. Thanks SurreyJohn. Spoken to the local garage (he is a good friend) and he did say that it could be the gear selector module or the mechatronic unit. He does have decent diagnostic equipment so would let him have a look first to see if he can help. If all fails we would have to go into the Skoda dealership (closest one is around 20 miles) and hope that it's not too expensive to repair 😞
  16. Hi all! This would be a bit of a long post, so please bear with me. I would appreciate some kind advice on how to proceed please. We've bought an approved used 68 reg Kodiaq back in September. The car is 1.5 TSi DSG with around 20k miles when bought. It's done about 2k miles since. We had an 3.0 Tdi Q7 before and as the wife mainly drives around town, we've decided that small petrol is ideal for the short trips. There was a minor issue with the service history, where it looks like one of the service was done a bit late, however this was sorted as an admin error and corrected. The car was due for a minor service last month, and was done locally instead of main dealer. The garage is an approved garage using genuine parts. We done 2 long trips since then, one up to Hull (circa 100 miles) and the other across to Aberyswyth(190 ish miles). The issue in the title appeared during the last 20 miles into Aber. When the warning is on, I cannot select even number gears (in manual mode) but odd number gears are fine. If I stop and restart the car the warning goes away and I can drive as normal, however during the hilly roads the warning came back. Gear changes were smooth, no strange noises or clunking. Parked overnight at hotel and the car was normal again next morning and around Aber. Even had the AA guy came out and he scanned with Snap On tool and he said the error (something to do with gear selector module) was cleared and never came back. On the journey home the error did come back, few times during the hilly roads and once coming out of Shewsbury. No errors on the M6. The car was mainly driven around town with 2-3 pax maximum. The Hull and Aberyswyth was our first long trip in the car (3 adults 3 kids). As the car is out of warranty I have booked it into local garage to have it looked at. If you've read thus far, thank you! I just wanted to include as much detail as I could. I would appreciate some advise please, on how to proceed. This is our first approved used DSG car, and we are a little concerned that now it's out of warranty we would be looking at big bills.
  17. A bit of an odd one but hopefully someone could help I am planning of ordering a few internal doors (possibly 3). Does anyone know that this will fit in the Kodiaq? I did a few rough mesaurements and it doesn't look like it will fit.
  18. I’ve reformatted the card as NTFS, and copied all the folders again and it now works
  19. I have ripped MP3s from my CD collection onto a 32GB SD Card. There are 3 folders but only 2 are visible in the car. I can read the missing folder fine on my PC. I've tried deleting the missing folder and recopying but no joy. There are about 150 songs in the missing folder. The other 2 folders that is fine has about 180 songs each. Does anyone know what is wrong?
  20. Looks like only slot 1 of the SD Card works. 80% progress now too scared to change screen to music, fearing I will lose the progress. Seems to automatically resume when I start the car for a drive too.
  21. Cheers I will give it a go. Do I have to keep the car running when updating via SD card?
  22. Hi all! Just bought a new (to us) late 2018/early 2019 Kodiaq and we are absolutely loving it! In our opinion it's better than the Q7 it replaced. I have 2 questions about the ICE: 1) The current map is ECE 2019. I've been on the portal and there are 2 files (valid since CW 25_2021 adn valid since CW 45/2021). Would any of these files work for upgrading the map? 2) We've copied some MP3 to the SD Card and it works a treat. Love how you can search by artists etc. However we have some songs with East Asian titles and it's displaying as weird square boxes. Does this mean the font is not supported? Many thanks!
