Squeaky window
It wasn't but, it is now, which presumes a piece of grit, for example, might have got in the works. It actually happened on a frosty winter's (when else?) morning and has been the same since. The YT video on removing the door panel seems quite complex but, perhaps more time consuming than anything else. But is it going to be necessary, please, to do this in order to get to the window mechanism and see what it presumably bearing on the glass? Comments and/or suggests for resolving this issue, preferably if possible without removing door panel will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help. Nigel

WHICH OBD2 BLUETOOTH?
Many thanks, Andy, for your very helpful comments. Nigel

WHICH MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR?
Have a P0101 Error Message which suggest, in the first instance, that the MAFS needs cleaning and I see that a special cleaner is needed for this. A spare MAFS came with the car but the serial numbers are slightly different. The fitted on is 262 055 which fits with what is a recommended replacement. However, the spare one is 262 027. Externally they appear identical apart from the fact that 055 has a retaining clip where 027 doesn't. Are the different numbers otherwise significant please?

WHICH OBD2 BLUETOOTH?
Am getting to know my newly acquired Octavia II and have bought a KW808 OBD2 which is fine. However, I see that there are Bluetooth OBD2s and wonder which, if any, are the most popular. Obvious advantage, as far as I can see, is that the module can be left plugged in and everything, at least in principle, is in/on an app. I note that comments here on the OBDeleven reflect the potential unreliability or, incorrect operation, of aspect the app. Thanks in advance for any helpful comments or suggestions.

Offical Skoda manuals site?
Thank you very much, Wino for all your helpful comments and suggestions. Will indeed see what can be turned up from Briskoda.net. In fact have already put in a thread, ( https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/500230-octavia-audio-unit-cd-issues/ ) but have had no response so far but, that was not specifically on the Multichanger issue.

Offical Skoda manuals site?
Thanks, Wino. Well, if the PDFs cover sufficiently wide bases, which for me would also include finding, for example, out why the CD Multichanger is not being recognised by the CR 1Z0035156G RADIO TOUCH SCREEN HEAD UNIT 421 then obviously for some £6 a go that is a better option.

Offical Skoda manuals site?
Thank you very much, Wino, for your comment and suggestion. However, to my mind 7 euros (currently £5.88) for an hour's access is not a 'small fee' and the escalation of cost could easily be quite large if one needed to keep returning to the site. Is there really no other source of useful information please? I am surprised that Skoda has such a what I perceive as mercenary approach to supporting their vehicles' owners. I am just moving on a BMW and there is an immense amount of free supporting information available for those vehicles.

Offical Skoda manuals site?
I need a manual for the Climate Control and have found this site which on the face of it appears to be an official Skoda site but, looking at the URL I wonder if it is. If not then I am not inclined to trust it unless, for example, verified by members of Briskoda.net. https://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/octavia-mk2/heating_ventilation_air_conditioning_system/heating_air_conditioning/air_conditioner/climatronic_air_conditioner_with_automatic_regulation_part_1/function_of_the_control_and_display_unit_for_air_conditioner/climatronice87_with_climatronic_control_unitj255_as_of_my_09_(cw_45/ Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

CONTROL SYSTEM FOR EXHAUST GASES warning light
Have just aquired a 2005 Octavia. Topped up at Sainsburys for a trip to Gloucester from Taunton and had the Control System for Exhaust Gases light come on. Checked the manual and this forum and it seems that quite often this light reflects (sic!) a minor and often transient error even just connected with choosing either 97RON or 99RO fuel. Anyway there were no unusual noises from the engine and no change in performance so did the trip on the basis that it might even be a sensor error. However, it seems prudent to purchase a diagnostic tool and they can range from £10 to close to £100, or more. I have been recommended a MaxiScan MS509 KW808 OBD2 EOBD which shows at £48.99 on eBay. What does anyone else recommend please which might be of equivalent quality bearing in mind that quite often the same platform and software is used in different products and sometimes with widely differing prices. Thanks in advance for any helpful comments or suggestions.

Estate. Rear washer issue
Many thanks everyone for your really helpful suggestions. Problem solved. It turned out that whilst the the tailgate is locked down it just needs an extra push to get a 'click' and then the sensor is happy and all works well. I am new to this vehicle and presumed that as the tailgate was secure it was fully engaged. Hope no one feels they have wasted their efforts being so helpful. Thanks again.

Sorry, thanks also, pikkpilot, for your helpful input.

Estate. Rear washer issue
Thanks very much, MicMac, that is very interesting and helpful. So there would appear to be an intermittent error.

Estate. Rear washer issue
This morning it wasn't raining as such but, the air was moist. Was in the car fiddling about and lo and behold (apart from the fact that it is Christmas) the rear wiper operated so, can only assume its operation is related to the rain sensor. At least one knows that the motor is OK. Don't know about the rear washer yet. Thanks everyone for your helpful comments and suggestions and have a great Christmas. Nigel

Sorry, MicMac, didn't understand.

Estate. Rear washer issue
Many thanks, TheClient & MicMac for your helpful comments. Yes, I rather feel this is pointing towards the switch but, since the front wiper and washers are working then it seems unlikely to be the tailgate lock switch. I see that one can buy the switch for under £30 but removing the steering wheel to get to removing the cowling seems to be something of a pig's ear.

Octavia audio unit. CD issues.
It has this audio (see pic) unit fitted. There appear to be different variations on a theme so don't know which model number this is, anyway:- 1) It has swallowed a CD then, almost immediately said it was ejecting it, but didn't and no amount of button pushing has resolved the issue so have notionally lost a CD disc, at least for the moment. 2) There is a CD Multichanger (which is on the car's specs). It will load and eject discs, so no problem there. The issue is that the Multichanger is not being recognised at the audio unit. 3) The HDD has a number of playlist items loaded (totaling 0.35GB out of 18.62GB) and one can delete them but, there is no indication of how to load new ones unless, of course, that would be from an SD card. Thanks in advance for any help. Nigel

Estate. Rear washer issue
Thanks, Ken Have found the fuse (PC41), checked that and it's OK. Good point to use a contact cleaner rather than a water/moisture dispersant. Thank you. Nigel Are the relays reliable or, are they known to fail please?

Estate. Rear washer issue
Many thanks, MicMac, skomaz & KenONeill for your quick and very helpful replies. | have just bought the vehicle and am getting to know it. When I first drove it the rear wiper was in the 12 o'clock position and then something caused it to move to its normal resting place. However moving the washer stem forward does not cause the wiper to operate, neither is there the sound (if it is moved forward again (for the washer) of the washer motor. One thought was that it might be the relay, apparently number 377, situated behind a drop down panel in the driver's footwell. However, since neither the rear washer or wiper is working does that suggest an error at the switch. The previous owner, whose comments I trust, says that this has all been working fine so, if it is just the switch would a liberal application of a suitable spray electronic cleaner (even WD40) be a first step? I notice that all of you are either in Scotland or the Shetland Isles which lends weight to my long held belief that these vehicles are generally fairly bullet proof.
