Engine Coolant Level Low message when is fine
I'm from Welly too. Agree about the winters! When were you last home? Taradale is nice, like Hawkes Bay full stop. The climate is so much better! How do you find the Fabia 1.0? Thinking of a Fabia for my wife and wondering if it's a little underpowered. We had a 1.0 Fiesta S while a great car, it was sluggish down low.

Hello from the Kapiti Coast, New Zealand
Finally gotten around to saying hi, having registered a few weeks ago. We progressed from an Audi A3 to an Octavia 1.8 Elegance a few months ago. Thoroughly enjoying the Skoda, in some ways it's a much nicer car. It has a couple of little niggles which are getting sorted, again better than the A3 and its constant problems. In the near future I'd like to lower it as it sits high and looks far too high. Thinking Vrs shocks and springs if practical to fit. I have black mirror caps to go on and will black out the grille etc. Thinking of changing the mags to a darker colour to contrast with the silver body colour. Interior wise, the silver door trim and gear selector surround might be swapped with Vrs items or if I can find some, gloss black ones. A Vrs steering wheel is on the cards too as I can get one for a good price. In the past I've owned a Yugo 55 Sport which was huge amounts of fun. In fact I'd like another one however my wife has other ideas..... So far I've found the site very informative and interesting. I've had good answers to a question I asked, thanks to those who took the time.

Great thanks, are you from this part of the world? Kapiti isn't often referred to as the Sunshine Coast these days, not for a lack of sunshine (we've had a fantastically sunny autumn), but not to confuse the Aussies with their newer sunshine coast.

Thanks for your reply. I will probably do that. I had a look on ebay last night, found some for under $50 including shipping. Yes the current one is with the teabag, another reason to get a new one.

Engine Coolant Level Low message when is fine
Kia Ora, I constantly get this warning when the car is started "Engine Coolant Level Low". Regular checks show the coolant level is OK, no leaks and the temperature gauge always reads a constant 90 degrees no matter on the distance travelled. I've changed the expansion tank with a second hand one I got dirt cheap, still the same. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Octavia seats compatibility
Interesting, I have wondered if seats from other VAG models would fit. The A3 8V seats look good and being straight forward swap is tempting. Personally I find my Octavia seats to be comfortable, more than those in the A3 8P we had before the Skoda. I have thought of Vrs seats as the ones I've sat in feel a tad more comfortable but as someone has mentioned, I don't want the Vrs logo.... Might keep a lookout for some reasonably priced A3 seats as there are a few being dismantled.

Lights on with Ignition light switch not functioning
Finally found the time to solve this problem, yes just a blown fuse. Took a couple of checks, the first site I looked at with fuse box diagram wasn't very clear and I checked the wrong fuse. Second time round, I got it right - in my car its fuse 8. Now I can turn the headlights off and use the obd socket yay! Will I had the carista plugged in I changed the throttle to function off pedal pressure not time delay (as it was originally set too) which has markedly improved acceleration at lower speeds.
