Lights on with Ignition light switch not functioning

Featured Replies

Hello, I have an issue with my 2010 FL Octavia. The low beam turns on with the ignition and the light switch does not do anything I can't turn them off and the fog lights can't bee turned on high beam is functional. The car is fitted with a light sensor, it also seems the automatic wipers are not functioning. I went in for a scan not vcds but the OBD port has no power, so the scanner could not connect, both fuse boxes checked no blown fuses.

You have a serious electrical/CANBus problem. Find an auto electrician, not a VAG main stealer.

Thanks for the answer, I'll try to find a good car electrician to sort it out. Are there any other indicators for a failing CANBus, and how much to expect for the repair.

I have the same issues with my 2014 Octavia 1.8p plus I get a "coolant level low" warning every time I start the car.  Recently tried another light switch and change the expansion tank (thinking the sensor was faulty) with no change.

Guess off to an auto sparky then.

My  Superb had this it was Fuse number 8

Finally found the time to solve this problem, yes just a blown fuse.  Took a couple of checks, the first site I looked at with fuse box diagram wasn't very clear and I checked the wrong fuse.  Second time round, I got it right - in my car its fuse 8.  Now I can turn the headlights off and use the obd socket yay!

Will I had the carista plugged in I changed the throttle to function off pedal pressure not time delay (as it was originally set too) which has markedly improved acceleration at lower speeds.

No problem always like to help where I can
