How bad are Pirelli P7's ?
Apertures - Try reading the actual statement! Who said anything about "if a tyre is worn to exposed cords on the inner edges only". The tyre wasn't unevenly worn, the cords weren't exposed, it simply split so deeply that, if you looked into the split, you could see the ends of broken wires. If you refuse to believe things that you haven't personally seen then fine, but don't go around calling other people liars simply because you've never seen it!

Apertures - What's your problem dude? Do you work for Skoda or Pirelli? If so, are you saying that Skoda suspension bushes wear out after only 25k miles of benign driving? Like I said, I was there in the office when the call was made and it was on speaker phone. The fact that the distributor knew about it obviously means I'm not the only guy to experience it. The tracking was checked immediately after replacing the tyres and was found to be well within limits. Just because every little incident isn't reported on this website doesn't mean it hasn't happened!

The last MOT was 12 months ago and the last Full Service was 6 months ago. It appears the tyres just reach a point where they structurally fail.

The car sailed through it's last MOT with no Defects and no Advisories. Typically the car is on the ground with the wheels facing straight ahead when you check the pressures. Even with the wheels turned the defect is extremely difficult to see. There is no scrubbing of the tread, in fact there is still a fair amount of tread on the tyres. It's only when the car was lifted on the ramp that you could see a black line around the entire circumference on the inside edges. Closer inspection revealed it is actual a deep split and you can see broken ends where the wiring has broken within the split.

Tyre life
The car is 2018 with 25k miles on the clock. The failure is on the inside edge of the front tyres and looks like a deep jagged cut around the entire circumference, right on the edge of the main tread (along the line of cracks in the picture above, but on the inside edge). The crack is so deep you can see the broken ends of the reinforcing wire. No problem with the rear tyres though, they are absolutely fine.

I was there when he made the call. I'd already told him I didn't want P7's and asked him to recommend a better tyre. That's why he told the distributor the Make & Model and the fact it was an MOT failure and that I'd asked for a recommendation. As I said, the distributor immediately knew the failure mode without being told. As for the other fault modes, all discounted. The car has only done 25k, the MOT confirmed all the mechanical joints are fine, there are no speed bumps near where I live, the tyre pressures are religiously maintained (I have my own compressor in the garage) and the tracking has been checked and verified as spot on. It appears that Skoda Superb's and P&'s simply do not get on, at least on the front wheels. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the tyres on the rear wheels

Tyre life
My Superb just failed the MOT because both front tyres (Pirelli P7) had split around the entire circumference on the inside edge after 25k miles, despite having plenty of tread left. When the mechanic called his tyre supplier and told him he needed two tyres for a Superb MOT failure the guy immediately said, "P7's split around the inside edge, right". So, the tyre dealers appear to know it's a problem.

How bad are Pirelli P7's ?
My 2018 Skoda Superb L&K (25,000 miles) just failed its MOT because of the front (Pirelli P7) tyres. Both of them had split around the entire circumference of the inside edge, exposing the wire. When the mechanic called his tyre supplier and told him he had a double front tyre MOT failure on a Superb, the guy immediately responded with, "Pirelli P7's split around inner edge, right". So, it appears it's a known issue.
