  1. In the fuel flap picture I've just noticed that the middle section is the same as the first but just has ECO. So if this for if you are driving your car in ECO mode? I'd say I'm more ECO than Sports mode these days for sure
  2. Thank you. Very helpful Thank you
  3. Hi experts. I drive a 7 seater Kodiaq that always has quite a lot of ‘stuff’ in it due to being a mother and also a part time childminder (think 3 / 4 baby carseats / boosters, plus the usual wellies, waterproofs, jump leads, electric tyre pump, first aid kid, water, buggy, hat/gloves/caps, golf umbrellas, etc, etc plus of course the toddlers / tweenagers themselves. Sometimes the buggy and car seats get removed but more often they stay in and are just removed for family holidays (in order to be replaced by luggage). www.tyre-pressures.com says 2.4 BAR / 35 PSI for my current tyres (235/50R19 99V). (The tyre itself says max 51 PSI) Behind the fuel flap it ranges from 2.4 to 3.1 BAR from my tyre size. 3.1 is about 45 PSI? I hadn't checked the tyres since collecting 2 weeks ago so just went to check they were all on 35 as recommended but they were in fact far higher - between 37 - 40 (although obviously my digital tyre pump may not be 100% accurate). So for now I’ve removed air from them all and just put them all at a 'safer' 36 PSI but I'm thinking that if it's ok to go higher I would rather do that for fuel efficiency, especially since my car is quite 'heavy' with stuff (the ride has been fine at that pressure). But is this ok? Looking at the fuel flap, I'm thinking now that I could go for a mid range 2.7 BAR / 40 PSI for all tyres? This is new to me as I've always just stuck with the recommended PSI as per the door sticker for cars in the past. Any thoughts? Thank you
  4. Yes thanks so much. I looked at the thread. This all makes perfect sense now. Thank you
  5. Many thanks again. I'll just get the 'A' ones then? The skoda dealer told me that the 'A' was for cars without plastic wheel arches. Since he said he could visibly see mine that means I get the one without. I think you guys know your stuff so I will go with that rather than what he said. I wonder if he meant the exact opposite of what he said. I would at least line up more with what you've said about the plastic trim being in the way! Mine's a 2018 1.4 TSI Petrol in case that makes any difference at all?
  6. Thanks very much. Very helpful. Those are exactly the same part numbers as the ones I've got in my ebay basket and they seem fine. Slightly worrying that the Skoda dealer told me that the 'A' was for cars without plastic wheel arches and the one without the A was for those with. He says I should have the one without an A as you can visibly see the wheel arch. Who knows
  7. Haha, thanks very much for confirming. I have to admit to accidentally breaking off the windscreen ticket holder the day I got the vehicle as I thought it was left over from the dealer's price sign. I probably won't bother getting fixed as although very useful, these days most parking tickets are online/via an app and I don't park that regularly in car parks anyway. Thank you
  8. I have a desire to know what absolutely everything is in my car! This is one I can't figure out (a pen holder?). In the lower passenger glove box. Thank you
  9. Thanks all for your replies. I've been quoted £150+ by Skoda for buying and fitting. Maybe I'll just get them to do it. But I can buy a genuine set from ebay for £50ish (although the part code appears slightly different - it may just be that skoda update them but in fact it's the same part?). I'd just need to sort the fitting of them then. I'm ok at basic things involving screws but probably not if it requires much more than an electric screwdriver. Is it more fiddly than that? If so, I should probably pay someone to do it. Also apparently there are 2 different front options depending on whether the front wheel arches are plastic or not? Mine seem to be plastic but what else would it be? Any ideas?
  10. Hi, I've done a little search and can't seem to find a definitive answer. I noticed from the marks after a quick drive to the shops in the rain that my Kodiaq doesn't have mudguards. Are they worth getting? I'm was thinking yes but then I came across a couple of posts saying they were pretty pointless and didn't stop damage from gravel, and in fact trapped dirt. I'm not worried at all about mud/dirt. I actually quite like driving a car that looks like it's been off road at times before getting it cleaned!! It's just more about long term damage from stones, etc. What are people's thoughts? Worth getting some mudguards fitted or not really bothering?
  11. Yes. The key on the form clearly says X = needs repair. Other things (that don't apply) have been left blank so this is why I was confused. It's a shame I'm having to get all my info from here rather than the cowboy dealers! Thanks so much all.
  12. Thank you so much for clarifying. Thank you very much for clarifying
  13. I noticed that on the Multi-Point Inspection Report for my Kodiaq, there is a line for ‘Engine Cover Security’ that has a X next to it (suggesting it ‘needs repair’). Does anyone know what 'Engine Cover Security' means? Perhaps the Kodiaq just doesn't have one and that's ok? I wanted to check in case it's (yet another) thing I need to take up with my dealer. I’m far from an expert but can’t see anything untoward under the bonnet? It also notes ‘Condition of Brake Drums’ and ‘Condition of Brake Linings’ (Pads and Discs are marked as fine) but I guess these are something that can be checked at the next service? Thank you
  14. Oh this is interesting. Do you have any more details at all please? Is there a reference number or something? I'd love to know so I can pass on. Wonder what the 'special grease' was ! I drove to my local dealer on Monday and have also emailed and they didn't mention anything?
  15. Thanks very much. I guess my wheel must have been turned slightly to the right still/or indicator on after reversing. Thank you very much for confirming
  16. Hi all, Sorry if I'm asking some really stupid questions (I do try to refer to the handbook first). Since my car is going back to the dealers I bought it from so they can sort out the issues that shouldn't have been there when I bought it (fortunately relatively minor/cosmetic so far) I want to check if there is anything else they have missed. Please can someone explain the corner/fog lights to me? I noticed today that when I checked the lights were working after I'd reversed into my drive way, only the right of the lower lights was on so obviously thought that the left bulb had gone. However both Did come on when I put the fog lights on (usually I have the switch to Auto). The manual mentions the corner lights but I don't quite get why only one would come on on one side? especially if the car is stationary on the driveway and the wheel is pretty straight. When I put the car into reverse both Did the come on as it suggests? Does this mean the lights are working ok? I'm a bit confused. Oh also, do the fog lights ever come on automatically or is that always a manual thing? (by pulling the switch out) Is there any way to determine whether my wipers are automatic or not other than just leaving them on the Int function and waiting for rain? Thank you
  17. Thank you so much again for the helpful replies. I'll try to get the dealer to sort it for now.
  18. Thank you every so much. That's so helpful. Would something like this one of these 2 products from Amazon work on the window frame/trip do think? I'm not entirely sure what material the silver frame is? It seems to have some sort of laminate coating on it. Is it chrome? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Autosol-Metal-Polish-75-ml/dp/B003XJ1ODM/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 or https://www.amazon.co.uk/JENOLITE-Metal-Polish-Aerosol-Industrial/dp/B08MB4YT98/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=V575NGYH5HSV&keywords=METAL%2BCLEANER&qid=1648384732&sprefix=metal%2Bcleaner%2Caps%2C313&sr=8-2-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExODlLSFlUU1JPQTJGJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDA4MDM1MTAwMThNTU9FWFg2NSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDY4OTUzMURIRjU0QlJWRjNBWSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1 If so, it may work on the wheel nut caps too
  19. Still noticeable if you are looking but not really obvious at all and this is a vast improvement to my previous picture so I'm happy with this.
  20. Honestly, thank you So much. This has been the best response ever. I have just managed to 'fix' the towbar. Sprayed a little WD40, left for a while, tried again while gently pulling the ball down. It's now working fine. I'll get it checked over but looks like was just stuck as hadn't been used in a while. Should I give it a good spray of WD40 over the mechanism (not the ball part?). To be honest the towbar isn't something I'm actually planning to use right now (it came with the car) but will be handy at some point I'm sure and want to make sure it doesn't seize up again. I guess I should just check it once a week or so? If anyone could help me with my stuck upper glovebox I'd be so helpful but I've tried everything other than forcing it open which would do more damage than good so think this is for the dealer to sort out. (They are still claiming it's NOT a glovebox but is just a nice bit of trim!) but both my manual, Skoda and youtube clips of similar spec Kodiaq's hopefully confirm they are wrong. Thanks so much all! Still need to sort the residue on the wheels and drivers window trim. But it's not too bad. A local guy used some strong white stuff and a hand polisher and it's not very noticeable now at all. I'll post a pic
  21. Thank you Kenny for the reassurance. I'm actually going to try a squirt of WD40 on the towbar tomorrow (it's all I have to hand) as I saw it helped someone else. Id probably hasn't been used for a while and has perhaps just seized up. I hope that's all it is And yes I've tried that for the glovebox but don't want to damage it so was scared to use too much pressure. It's very tempting to try sticking things between the gap but I think I'd better leave it. But it sounds hopeful that both are easily fixeable. Thank you so much.
  22. In terms of getting the towbar repaired and the upper passenger-side compartment working again, does anyone happen to know if I should just (if I even have a choice) let the car dealer's technicians attempt to sort it which is what they want, or am I within my rights to insist on an authorised Skoda dealer sorting these and them reimbursing me? Does anyone know if it's an easy job (for someone qualified) sorting the compartment and/or tow bar?
  23. Wow super helpful responses. Thank you SO much. It's a shame to have this hassle but hopefully it's all easily resolvable. I love the car otherwise. Regarding the compartment (which wierdly is annoying me more than the towbar!) they totally dismissed me when I went to collect the car (it had all been done online). I was trying to open it (I couldn't remember how) and he laughed and said it was 'just the trim'. It was only when I got home and looked at the manual I remembered how to open it and therefore that I was correct and had been incorrectly dismissed. When I push the button there doesn't seem any resistance. I'm quite handy but to be honest as a single parent with a million things to do I don't really have the time and need them to sort it (but please do feel free to give me some tips and I could take a look if I can find the time. But I'm certainly pushing them. Especially since there is the towbar issue too). With the towbar, I've seen on youtube how it should drop down and you then lock it into place but it's not doing this. It just 'whirrs' but nothing is actually moving (or dropping down)... As you say, the wheel nuts, centre cap as are pretty cheap to replace so I'm not soo bothered. Thank you for the info about this being notorious. That's good to know. I did point out the white coating on the nuts but the dealer dismissed me saying I could scrape/clean it off... it would take me forever to do that. As you say I've discovered these are cheap to replace so not tooo bothered. Just annoyed at being dismissed. I clearly asked via email if there were any obvious makings/scratches/damage to the car and was told no. In terms of the white markings. No sign of bird poo but I suspect strong cleaning chemicals are to blame? It literally looks like spray paint but think it is some kind of strong treatment. Elbow grease, my nails and nail polish remover did nothing. A lovely lovely local repair guy did a good job when I drove to him almost in tears! with some strong white product and an electric polisher. It's still faintly there but doesn't bother me now. So I can live with that and would pay him to do it properly if need be. I think as you say some strong chemicals were to blame? I would definitely like access to the upper storage though. And obviously would like the electric towbar working since I paid a premium for it, whether I use it or not (I was thinking could be good for a bike rack) Thank you so much
