  1. Innocent till proven guilty? Don't want to tar the whole UK police force with the same brush, but undoubtedly there are individuals (as here in Sweden) who'll call even the smallest movement or hesitation "resistance" (and find colleagues who back their story). You may of course have other reasons for questioning your staff member's trustworthiness, so watchfulness might be prudent. But in the particular case it might be wise to wait for the court's decision. Not two cases are alike.
  2. Oh yes - Volvo PV444 1951: The first PVs (1947-50) had semaphore indicators, not very reliable in Swedish winter climate with snow and sub -zero temperatures. The 1951 "Fixlight" was in a way more reliable - problem was that it was hard to see whether the driver was turning left or right (the blue stable light in the middle was supposed to help). 1952 the Fixlight was replaced with indicators on the B pillar (next car in line on the pic above), and 1957 the PV got proper front and rear indicators.
  3. Ah, another knowledgeable Briskodian Maybe they cut a bit too much of the edge - the thingy was banned by the road authorities (on new vehicles) in '53...
  4. Hint: 440,000 cars built over 18 years, but this specific gadget was to be found on the '51 model only...
  5. OK, I'll let you brood over an oddity that maybe never ever reached the UK so few (if any) of you may have seen it:
  6. 'ear 'ear! We do have Win10Pro on our desktop at home, and even if it hasn't caused us any major difficulties (all sheduled updates have installed without creating havoc), we rarely use it. SWMBO uses her phone (please, don't get me started on new Android versions, google has become worse than MS) for almost all tasks while I've just completely renovated my laptop softwarewise so that I now run 64 bit/multilib Slackware 14.2 OS. And at work the IT folks are cautious - we're still on Win7, thankfully. Almost as good as NT4 :P
  7. shocking video: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/aug/08/car-tastrophe-mercedes-benz-reverses-onto-ferrari-458-speciale
  8. My guess is that you've hit the nail... or button:
  9. No idea. All I know is that three plugins were no longer listed on the Add-ons > Plugins page, namely Adobe Flash, Java and DjView (all in their latest versions). A fourth plugin (Citrix) was still listed. After copying them to a new library as per above, they are all listed and working (so not disabled, unless I've found some unintended workaround). And yes, I know that both Flash and Java are dubious pieces of software, but you still find the odd webpage that won't work without them.
  10. Looks like a Fiat 124 Sport Coupé with the chrome trimmings removed?
  11. Updated FF yesterday only to find that most of my plug-ins seemed to have disappeared although they all remained in their usual directory /usr/lib64/Mozilla/plugins/ Solution: create a new /plugins/ directory in /home/<user>/.mozilla/ and copy your plugins to the new directory. Caveat: It seems as most browser sooner or later will stop accepting NPAPI plugins. If there are some third-party plugins you really need it's probbly a good idea to keep an old version of your favourite browser installed somewhere and use that when necessary.
  12. It sure is a Cord 810, well done! A stunning car - saw one at a classic car show almost 50 years ago and have never forgotten it:
  13. Ouch. My sympathies. Hopefully the pain will ease before long.
  14. Real deal - and your spelling looks spotless to me. Hope you'll return to twohanded state soon.
  15. Hope you haven't got tired of hideaway headlights:
  16. I ought to have recognised it instantly... Saab Sonett III? Personally I've always preferred the Sonett II.
  17. Subtle, but nevertheless correct: Renault Avantime!
  18. It's red, so it should be Italian - Abarth Monomille?
  19. Spot on! Impressive considering that only 67 cars were built, you won't see them often.
  20. Well, I found a pic that seems to be the one Wile7 started with - the caption says Wartburg 313 but also that the 313 was based on the 311. So your suggestion is good enough for me. But of course Wile7 is the umpire, ley's wait for his comment.
  21. Wartburg 313 Sport Coupé? EDIT: Damn, beaten in photo finish
