Thank you
here's a link to the site if anyone wants one in future.

hey guy's,
My octavia is due another oil change soon.
Im after a oil filter cap type wrench. like this....
But what size should I get? I dont need an entire set....
Anyone have one?
My octy is a 1.9 TDi 90 1999 model
-
Mine was falling off because a piece had snapped off,
so I checked above it, so I could drill it, ie. not through anything,
like this guy... http://www.zxforums.com/forums/zx-6r-forum/14462-fi-light-need-help.html posts 1 -15
and put some self tapping screws in with a large washer to hold mine up.
Works a treat
-
You have a 90bhp car. Live with it!
huh...
They have plenty of go after 70mph normally.
Try the MAF sensor like everyone has said
-
you could say you dont feel safe driving the car, if its not a write off.
Then they can give you the money for a new one.
And you can probably buy it back like everyone said, and make a killing
-
I've got the TDi 90
with 128,000 on the clock, not as high mileage as the others but still going strong.
Getting 50mpg on a hard 'foot down' drive
60mpg economically driving, with overtaking bursts from 60 - 90mph on dual carrageway
80mpg real economic driving, with a already warm engine
£55 a tank of diesel lasts 550 miles
155ft lbs of torque is fantasic for driving in 5th everywhere especially uphill
An octavia fault that is annoying is door/mirror/window gremlins, caused by corroded terminals in the door cards.

Save yourself looking for wheels and just buy mine.
http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/152415-speedline-corse-turni-2120-wheels-white/
I actually like those, when are you in ashford this month???????
im soooo close to ashford... so could you take a photo of them on your car m8.
hopefully if my student loan payment gets through next week, i'll have them off you

Thanks for the reply's guys.
The current tyre sizes for my model are;
195 / 65 R15 (91H)
I do like mkI VRS 17"s alloys, if anyone has a set??
I have no idea what the current offset is?
what is the VRS standard sizes of wheel, tyre, and offset?
-
They look more like Pro Race 1's not 1.2's.
Tyre size depends on what width of wheel your going for.Post your width up and also what size tyres you have on it now.
I would go for a 16" or maybe even 17" wheel,rather than a 15"
They could be 1's I only just googled it quickly for a photo.
Cool I'll have a look at the standard sizes later on, thanks.
wont bigger size alloys throw the speedo off?
-
hey guys
Sorry about making another alloy thread, the others dont quite have the info I want.
Ive currently got the standard 15" steel wheels on my octavia 1.9Tdi GLX 1999
IIRC someone said all the octavia mk1 alloys have the same fittings, 5 stud, and the same offset.
What are the standard figures again please?
I've been thinking about getting these; (not from there though).
http://www.madmotors.co.uk/catalog/team-dynamics-race-white-blue-tyres-pi-23275.html
Has anyone tried these, team dynamics pro race 1.2?
What tyre sizes should I be buying to go with the 15" aftermarket alloys?
standard huge profile tyres or lower profiles?
Thanks

Hey guy's.
My Octavia is making a weird noise when I pull away from a junction, I only notice it usualy from when the engine is cold.
After just braking then pulling away with about 1200 revvs, not being harsh with the clutch either...
Its a kind of moaning/screetching (but not ear splitting noise), it lasts for about a second and is gone again, and its intermittant.
Anyone know what it could be.
Also does anyone know how to take the lumbar support knob out of the front drivers seat, as mine is broken and doesn't adjust?
-
ah right thank you.
are they interchangeable?
I could pick a turbo and injectors up from a scrapyard... or is that a bad idea. (Injectors will be a bad idea as they wont be clean)
-
so if the only difference between the 90 and the 110 is the injectors, then you could get a massive torque/power increase on a 90 too?
-
Ok, when bikers stop running main beam all the time, shining their headlights in my eyes or mirrors...
Thats a rather subjective opinion, Bikes headlights are generally higher than a car.
Thats why you think your being blinded by a high beam when we are close, where in actual fact we dont all ride around on high beam, if we did then you'd really know about it.
Im running Osram silverstars on my bike, and im looking to upgrade the bulbs in the octy,
I'll probably go with the silverstars again for the car as well,
from previous experience they produce a good beam and a bright white light, and I havnt had one go yet.

Welcome.
there's plenty of young skoda drivers out there, quite a few on here too.
My first car was a felicia when i was 17.
Now im 20 and i have the same car as you with roughly the same mileage.
happy times

yes see i read about nos a few months ago, and i thought it was a brilliant idea since it cant harm a diesel engine
But my nearest refilling station i can find is 60 miles away
I read somewhere on here that fitting the 110 bhp models injectors would help.
Anyone know how much they are or the part number for them?
-
hey guy's
I really want to clear that annoying low revv turbo lag it has beneeth 1500rpm.
I've been doing a bit more reading about turbo's, (dangerous i know lol).
Can I fit a boost controller to my car? 90bhp diesel octy.
and will that solve the problem? Or is there a better mod I can do?
-
hey guy's.
Ok so yesterday I stumbled upon this video.
VW golf diesel 1900 auto. with nitrous
And then I found this from Nitrous experts NX.
Im seriously contemplating fitting this to my octavia now.
FAQ.
Nitrous Express Diesel Frequently Asked Questions
Main diesel page.
Nitrous Express Diesel Nitrous Systems
Q. Can you use nitrous on a diesel engine?
A. Of course, diesels love nitrous and are the only application that nitrous can actually make the engine safer to operate.
Q. What is the worst case damage scenario dealing with nitrous and a diesel engine?
A. When using nitrous on a compression combustion engine the absolute worst case scenario is that the intake charge is cooled so much that the engine loses fire and has to be restarted, that’s it! You don’t even have to wait to restart it, just hit the key and go.
Q. How much nitrous can you use on a stock diesel engine?
A. Of course the amount varies with the application, the larger the engine the more nitrous you can use. However on most pick-ups and small truck applications up to 150 HP can be gained safely.
Q. What about torque?
A. The amount of torque produced when nitrous is applied is huge, it is possible to produce up to 1600 pound feet of torque on a street driven truck!
Q. Why does nitrous work on a diesel?
A. Nitrous provides additional oxygen to burn more fuel, much like a larger turbo. However it has one move valuable feature, it is extremely cold, thus providing a tremendous amount of intercooling. Nitrous is 127 degrees below zero when it is injected into the intake.
thoughts?

hey guy's
I've got a octy glx 1.9tdi 90.
When driving I had the A/C and the recycled air on, when I parked up I left the buttons to ON, and just turned the ignition off.
I noticed the light was still on, on the recycled air button and a strange werring noise was coming from the left side of the car behind the dash.
So I turned it off, and it stopped.
just to check I pressed the switch again and it did the same thing.
Why is this working with the igniton key out?
The werring noise didn't sound right, anyone heard of anything strange going on with the rc/air?
-
Thank you.
Thats actually the information we've been needing, and will back up our findings. (with the NO votes)
Could someone record the gauges not working? in a video please?
-
has the VRS got a different dash?
It has actually now i think about it...
Humm could someone who has access to a parts phish tell us if its a different part no. for the regulator. For the vRS model and the others.
-
bump
I intend to present this information asap to another local skoda dealer.
Please could everybody who has had the problem vote yes.
(if you have voted no, why is this? mark 2 octavia? - It would be interesting to know what cars are NOT affected)
-
so what exactly does the can bus do or not do to the vag com?
Tdi 90 REMAP anyone had it done?
in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Posted · Edited by Felicia racer
hey guys
anyone had their octy 1.9Tdi 90bhp remapped?
If you have...
There's a garage around here that does REVO remaps, thought I might give it a try
Also been looking at;
not sure as this is the 100bhp.
