Infotainment Screen Replacement
Hi all, After some advice, my infotainmnet touch screen has a mind of its own during colder/damper conditions. This is the second Autumn/Winter its done it. I don't really want to splash out on a an upgrade, just want to fix it as cheaply as possible. If I buy a second hand genuine screen (with some guarantee) is it as simple as just plug and play or is any coding required? Thanks in advance

Torque Settings Required Please
Could anybody provide me with the torque settings for the three bolts which hold the engine mounting bracket to the block please. This is obviously the mounting at the front end of the engine near the cam belt covers. Also, are these torque to yield bolts which need replacing? VIN is TMBMJ7NE7F01885189 thanks in advance Andy

Octavia Scout III Rhino Seat Covers
For info for Scout owners I had a set of Octavia III Rhino front seat covers for a few years but was never that impressed with the fit. Once the waterproof backing started to delaminate off the back of the drivers one I decided to contact Rhino to see if they could sirt out a better fit on some replacement covers. Callum asked me for some photos and measurements and has now created a revised cover for the Scout seats. I'm really happy with the fit. I went for the all in one covers that go over the headrest as they're quicker to remove when you want a clean plush seat to sit on. I had them in black and with the map pockets on the back. They're a really good quality, solid, protective waterproof seat cover suitable for people that are looking for function rather than a fancy looking seat cover. I told Callum I'd give him a plug on here. The Scout version is listed seperately in a drop down menu on their website.

2015 Scout Failed Haldex - Advice
I can't over emphasise the importance of the pump learn procedure. Even if it is just the pump that is faulty, replacing it and not relearning the pump values might mean the right voltage isn't sent to the pump andnit still doesn't work, which could lead to in incorrect assumption that other hardware is at fault. Mine was relearned successfully with some none VAG diagnostic software at an independant garage. A decent independant shouldn't charge you too much to plug in and carry it out, it takes a few minutes. OBDeleven has the pump learn function as I've seen it on mine, I can't vouch for whether it does tho job prolerly though as I've had no need for it since fixing mine. Best of luck!

2015 Scout Failed Haldex - Advice
I've probably done 35k since the fix with a new pump and 4WD had never failed since. I've done a couple of fluid changes in that time, far more than is officially required but wanted to keep a close eye on oil and pump gauze. The fluid has never been that dirty when I've changed it since the pump change and flush. The gauze has had a bit of sludge on it but nothing major. I'd say the sludge is just friction material rather than debris from a failed clutch pack. So in summary the VAG dealer were talking B*****ks and had tried to grossly over repair my car. Still going strong now just from pump and flush and fluid (and critically a pump reset learned values procesure on diag machine which is essential) Thanks again to all that helped

Octavia Scout Lazer Lamp Fit
Mine doesn't have adaptive cruise control, just standard CC, so not something I had to consider. Isn't the radar for ACC behind the upper grille or bumper?

Octavia Scout Lazer Lamp Fit
Thought I'd share a recent installation of a Lazer Lamp Triple R 1250 i-LBA lamp i fitted to my Scout in case it's of interest to anyone else. Lazer Lamp's technical guy said he's never fitted one to an Octavia or had enquiries from anyone doing so before me. The headlamps on my Scout are just bog standard lamps and they're rubbish. I really struggle driving at night and spend a lot of time driving in the Lakes and Highlands in Winter. The lamp was a serious investment which I spent a lot of time considering but I'm pleased to report that driving at night will never be the same again now, it's incredible. The intelligent Low Beam assist mode helps after switching from main to dipped beam and has a sensor which automatically reduces the output when other cars are detected or reflection from signs. Transmission Breathers
Hi all, I have a 2015 Scout which gets well used in The Lakes where I live and a lot of use in the Highlands. The roads flood a lot where I live and I regularly drive through a Ford to access a field where the Mrs keeps her horse. I started to wonder about the breathers on transmission/diffs/Haldex etc Does anybody have knowledge of which of these have breathers and where they are routed, how high etc? Do people think there is much chance of them taking in water from my use of the vehicle? I've seen diffs ruined on transits years ago from just this. Anybody know how easy it would be to extend and elevate these breathers? Many thanks

Help with bearing noise
Yep, now I've changed 2 bearings I should technically get it rechecked as I've had the ball joints off the arms.

Help with bearing noise
Don't think you've seen my latest post - I've fixed the issue as of yesterday. My tracking is spot on, had it done when I replaced all four tyres. The noise was unmistakably a noisy bearing, it was just very hard to know which bearing. I thought NSF but yesterday has proven it was OSF. Dropped lucky with getting hold of 2 genuine VAG bearing kits complete with bolts for £70 a piece. So it's only cost me £140 to replace both fronts so I'm pretty chuffed, especially now my concerns of a gearbox bearing failure are put to bed! Thanks for the reply though, and to everybody else who offered suggestions

Help with bearing noise
*UPDATE* Thought I'd post this in case it helps someone else. Due to the noise getting louder when turning right but sounding like the front and me having already replaced NSF, I've spent a long time agonising over whether to try NSR or OSF first. Long story short, after feeling vibration through the pedals, I decided to try OSF first and it has fixed the issue. Learning point is that the convential thinking of the bearing that is loaded when cornering becoming noisier isn't necessarily correct

Undershield bolt Part Number
Got them sorted but thanks anyway!

Undershield bolt Part Number
Hello all, Does anybody know the part number for the above. It's the 13mm head bolts I'm after, not the Torx screws. Thanks

Help with bearing noise
The bearing noise has got louder now and is a lot more obvious. I'm positive it is front not rear. Gets worse when turning right but have already replaced NSF with no change. Suddenly had a thought today, could it be a bearing on an intermediate driveshaft... does anybody know which side has the intermediate shaft? Cheers

Help with bearing noise
A useful approach if you're sure whether it's front or rear. In my case it sounds like it is definitely front but the evidence points to it being nearside which due to the nearside front already having been replaced would only leave Nearside rear. That's why I've been struggling with my next move. As JR has pointed out going with the evidence makes the most sense. If I end up changing all four before I fix it then hey ho. I'm doing them myself so it's relatively inexpensive and as the car has done 107k and I plan to keep for the next 5 years any replaced will serve as preventative maintenance

Help with bearing noise
The rear seats being removed will certainly be giving you extra road noise as you know. I presume the scraping noise is seperate to the one you're describing as a diff noise? The scraping noise will eventually become apparent when it worsens I'm sure. Sounds like your possible diff noise isn't bad, so perhaps just tyre noise like you say

Help with bearing noise
Thanks for that. Seems strange that I don't hear it at all when sitting NSR but do in the drivers seat but I'm willing to be led by the advice of someone more certain than me. Thanks
-
Help with bearing noise
No but I can't really hear it in the rear but hear it very pronounced from the drivers seat. Torn between NSR or OSF to try next

Help with bearing noise
Thanks for the advice, all very valid. You can't really spin the wheels up fast enough due to resistance from the drivetrain, especially with it being 4wd. If I had a means of getting the entire car off the ground myself I'd put it in gear and go around with a stethoscope but with the wheels unloaded that may or may not help, it's definitely an early faliure as isn't that loud. The main thing I'm curious to hear is whether people think the noise must be on the Nearside due to it getting worse steering to the right, or could an offside bearing get louder when turning right because of how the bearing is failing (ie which side of the bearing)?

Help with bearing noise
Recently changed the NSF weel bearing on my 2015 scout (107 000 miles) with some info kindly provided by other forum members. Unfortunately the nosie I was trying to fix is still there. I have a bearing drone, fairly mild but defintely present. Hear it most clearly at about 50 - 80 mph. Most audible on smoother surfaces when the tyre noise is less. Tyres are 4 conti cross contact lx2 all in top condition with no feathering to edges. Only fitted about a year ago and not even used during Winter as switched to Winter wheels/tyres. I know my tyre choice isn't the quietest but this noise is definitely a bearing amd not tyre noise. The noise is still present and doesn't really alter if you dip the clutch and coast, which led me to believe a wheel bearing rather than anything more sinister. I'm sure it's the front as can't really hear it in the rear. It gets louder is you jolt the steering rightwards, which made me think Nearside bearing. Having not cured it by changing the NS bearing I'm now suspecting OS, but that doesn't seem to tie in with the turning right making it worse. My question is, could it be the OS bearing and still it get louder when turning to the right? Or is that highly unlikely? Many thanks
