  1. Hi All Forum Users, I've just booked my 2018 Octavia 1.5tsi in for its 5th service and MOT at Heritage Skoda WSM. I was bracing myself for an additional cost of the timing belt replacement as previously I'd read it should be changed at 5 years. However, I've been told that I don't need to have it changed as there has been a new technical advisory which means it's now 15 years or 140k miles. Whilst I pleased that I don't have the additional cost, I have asked if someone can call me back and send me some written confirmation as it'll be cheaper to replace the belt than have an engine rebuild! Has anyone else been told the same? Many thanks
  2. @alessio92 That would all depend on on how well the vehicle has been maintained and also how it's been driven. I was always advised to go for higher mileage cars (as long as they're not taxis, ubers etc) as typically the mileage has been motorways and so less stress on engine, gearbox and clutch, plus likely to have been single occupant cars so less wear on interior too. Hope that helps...
  3. Hi Alessio92, the diesels all seem to have well over a 100k miles at that price point. I did come across this one https://www.cargurus.co.uk/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?zip=BS7 9AW&maxPrice=7000&distance=150&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d2502#listing=149138282/NONE but it's £7490 or this MK2 petrol with 80k miles one https://www.cargurus.co.uk/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?zip=BS7 9AW&maxPrice=7000&distance=150&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d2502#listing=149383050/NONE I have a 1.5tsi DSG and around town it averages about 35mpg and I get over 50mpg on the motorway at a steady 70mph even with 4 up and luggage. I drive around 8k to 9k miles a year. Good luck in your search..! Gru
  4. Hi All, I've owned a 2018 Octavia 1.5tsi DSG estate for nearly a year now. I've had no issues and it drives really well. It's due the 4th year service but should that include a gearbox oil change service too (26k miles covered so far)? I've ring around a few places and they all have a different perspective. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance
  5. Thanks all for the responses, it's much appreciated. It seems that prices have gone up and I will deffo have to shop around next year before I get it changed.
  6. That's interesting because Heritage Skoda in Bristol is who I called, and the service guy said the 1.5tsi was different and it was allocated 6½ hours of labour time for a cambelt and then parts.
  7. Thanks roottoot, the all-in plan covers 2 years of MOT, extended service (incl spark plugs), warranty and breakdown cover. I checked some prices with local independent specialists and they were quoting £220 plus additional £120 for.tge plugs and £45 for MOT. So the all-in plan seems good value in comparison
  8. Thanks Warrior193, that is really helpful and I will shop around when the time comes.
  9. Hi all I've owned a 2018 Octavia 1.5tsi DSG estate for nearly a year now and it's a great car. It is due it's 4th year service and I've decided to go with the Skoda £32 per month all-in 2-year service plan as it seems good value. As I was chatting to the service guy, I enquired about the cambelt. He said this is changed at year 5, but what was shocking is the price quoted was Just shy of £1000..! I was expecting about half that cost, so is this just inflated main dealer labour costs or is it genuinely that complicated? Any advice gratefully appreciated
  10. Hi All, I've owned a 2018 Octavia 1.5tsi DSG estate for nearly a year now. I've had no issues and it drives really well. The only thing I noticed is that the rear suspension is creaky but only intially and then it settles down. Is it a known issue and is there a fix? Thanks in advance
  11. I'm new to this forum, having purchased an Octavia 1.5tsi DSG estate, (2018 model) last year.
