  1. It's not that surprising. I think Skoda makes great cars, but with the lower price tag than VW and other similar brands they have to skimp on some stuff. Sound proofing is one of them.
  2. My 2014 1.2 TSI Octavia gets quite noisy at high speeds. There's a bit of road noise, some vibration and some of wind noise from the drivers window. My old 2003 Golf was quieter.
  3. Hi y'all. I just got an aftermarket Android stereo for my 2014 Octavia and I've had some trouble finding a mounting solution for it. It just won't fit in the frame. The OEM stereo has these metal brackets that makes sure it stays in place, but the aftermarket one doesn't. I'm not sure if I can remove them and attach them to the new unit or if I need to but some stuff for it. I've been googling but I can't find a solution for my exact model, especially since 2din seems to be the more common one. First picture is the OEM stereo, second one is the aftermarket. This is how the frame looks inside. I've never seen one like this before. Usually they have screws and holes to mount the stereo.
  4. Why do I need a new surround? Wouldn't there be an adapter or something to solve that issue?
  5. I've been searching around like a madman for days but is none the wiser. I'm looking to replace my stock stereo in my Skoda Octavia Mk 3 -14 with a new head unit that supports bluetooth, has nav, apps, and all of that stuff. I've got an Android phone. I'm a bit confused as to the installation part, if I need coding or not and what (if any) extra tools, adapters or wires I need. I'm pretty sure I can install it myself since I have a history of building and repairing computers. Any advice would be appreciated. Here's what my stereo looks like right now:
  6. How did it work out for you? I have the same stereo and want to upgrade it to a proper one with Nav and everything. Cheers.
  7. Looking for some advice. I have a 2014 Octavia with the stock stereo, no phone or Bluetooth compatibility, and I'm looking for an upgrade. Any good third party ones that support Android out there?
  8. Thanks for the reply. I'm currently looking into those but it's a jungle out there. Any particular brand you would recommend?
  9. Hey y'all. I recently purchased a Skoda Octavia 5E 2014 and so far I'm very pleased with it. Sadly, it didn't come with an infotainment system, only a stereo and CD player. At first I didn't mind it but my car doesn't even have bluetooth or phone support and it's starting to annoy me. I've been googling like a madman trying to figure out if it's actually possible to retrofit my car with a proper infotainment system instead. I've only really come up with results on how to replace an existing one. It appears that having an Octavia 5E with just the stereo is quite uncommon. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
