  1. Just a little post to say hello and good to be back!

After over 5 years of owning BMW's I have come back to a trusty Skoda. Given the pennies becoming tighter due to covid I sold the x3m and after ALOT of car browsing decided on an October vrs. Glad to say I did 🙂🙂

  2. It's been a while since I posted as I wrote my much loved Octy vRS off Jan 09 and wasn't able to drive for some time after. Had a 52 plate A4 TDI Quattro since which has now been replaced with a 61 plated A4 Black Edition :D

Anyways, to the reason I have posted..

The EML of my good ladies Fabia came on yesterday and was wondering if anyone on the forum might know the reason and/or if they have experienced the same problem. Strange this is that there is no visable problems as I drove it for a good hour yesterday and took it up and down the rev range, even held it at 5500rpm in 2nd to listen for any 'blips' which may indicate a fuel or ignition problems..but didnt miss a beat? Thinking it maybe an emissions problem.

Car seems ok but worried abut her getting stuck as we have just found out she is pregnent and dont want her getting stressed etc. I live in south Derbyshire, is there anyone local with Vagcom? There will be a drink in it for anyone that wouldn't mind plugging it in

  3. Give Turbo Dynamics in Northampton a ring, they can rebuild and balance your turbo with a 48hr turn around. Or, if you have extra pennies to spend (alot more!) you could have it hybrid-nised (sorry, I know it isn't spelt that way...) which will give you much more power - you will have to uprate your clutch, IC, suspension and brakes mind :)

  4. Just wanted to thank you all for your kind words and support last week, especially James at Allams Skoda who gave me some good advice when I needed it.

    now, good and bad news!

Bad news is that the vrs has been declared a CAT B and will be written off (as suspected - going to garage to take the OEM BT kit out tomorrow so will take some pics)

Good news is that the engineer who assessed my car has valued it and I can now pay the PCP off in full

Directline have a bidding process set up for CAT B's with a number of 'approved' breakers. I have agreed with the engineer that once the car has been bid on and won he will be able to let me know where it has gone.

As soon as I know I will be posting the details on here as I'd rather you guys benifit from all this rather than some random looking to Kev up his corsa with 18" Zeniths.

  5. Thanks so much for everyone's kind words, it really does mean alot :) I'm still here in one piece, thats the main thing.

On the insurance front, after speaking to someone in the trade today it became apparrent that my insurance company will prob offer be around 9k which would neither be enough to replace my car or pay the 10.4k required by Skoda finance to settle the PCP :( - Hope this isnt the case as it will leave me without a car and with a £1400 whole in my pocket.

Awaiting a call from Directline tomorrow to arrange for a hire car and assessor to come out to give a valuation, its just a qaiting game now I guess.

To answer Karlos69, I guess you could have the springs and FSD's...but thats if I can buy the car back from directline? Never been through a car insurance cliam like this before so I wouldn't know..does anybody have any ideas how this would work? Incidentally would there be a demand for a written off Octy

  6. Wednesday night I nipped out to get a few bits for tea and on the way I hit a patch of black ice and dispite my best efforts my car spun off the road at 50mph and turned on it roof finally coming to a stop 50 yard down the road. I had to kick out the passenger side window to get out the car but a kind passer by pulled me to safety where I waited until the paramedics arrived.

I have now been released from hospital as they suspected a broken neck or fractured spine, but after 3 x-rays, 2 CT's and 18hrs in a neck harness the consultant finally gave me the all clear :o

Fair to say I am absolutly gutted about my car and seeing as I don't have GAP insurance it pretty much looks like I will be bady out of pocket as well :(:(

Waiting for the insurance company to get back in touch with me, so all I can do is wait now.

  7. Check fleabay as I managed to 5 x 1 litre bottles of the stuff (minus the handy funnel) for £24 inc postage

I know you've bought a fresh supply already but ...

Shell Helix Ultra VX 1 litre from your friendly neighbourhood Skoda Dealer complete with a carry bag containing a funnel, wipes and gloves for £14.08 is a pretty good buy IMHO

  8. I had a pigeon fly into my windscreen on the way back from Bracknell the other week. Frit both me and my boss who was sat in the passenger seat half to death!!

Feckin rat on wings scratched my screen right in the line of sight as well! So I may have to go for my 3rd screen since taking delivery of my vRS last August :(

Dont you just love paying out £60 each time and then to find it DOES effect your insurance premium (even tho they say it doesn't) .:thumbdwn:

  9. Yet another thread where your posting controversial statements and generally getting on peoples nerves..

For those wondering what I am on about search 'vrs vs sport'...

i was talking to a mechanic and came up with ch@vs and moding cars and he said that the exhausts they put on actually loses the car power along with performance air filters and dump valves being a waste of money unless you like making silly whoosing noises. As he put it, if doing that actually boost your power so easily then why do the manufactors waste so much money on R&D and not actually just fit these so called performance things to the car straight away anyway?
  10. Sounds like its proper f*cked mate....take it to the scrapers ;)

    Hi

My Octavia II vRS TFSi is sounding really rough at tickover, if i didn't know better id say it was running on 3 cylinders but its fine above tick over. it then rev's its self to 1000rpm, it then hunts between 1k to 1.5k rev it and it holds the revs at 2000rpm by it self for a few seconds. the engine also jolts when you let off the throttle at around 2000rpm.

I normally run it on 97 or above octane fuel but i've been on holiday in newquay for a week and had to run it on 95 octane. while i've been there its been nothing but short trips and running alsorts off the battery. its been running perfectly till this morning and then i started it up again later on and it started with the above problem. i've just half topped the tank back up to full with Shell V-Power and drove 300+ miles home hoping it would sort it self out. apart from the above problem the car drove fine but the problem still exists.

has any one got any idea's before i book it into the dealers?

    Cheers,

    Dan
