Helix Subwoofer Install
Ah, I had this problem getting one too. I nearly had a friend from Germany proxy ship one to me. Too late since you've already bought one, but for anybody viewing the thread; They have them on Inchcape's website ships from UK. They were skeptical shipping one for a skoda but we know that they work! https://store.inchcape.co.uk/collections/multimedia-technology/products/vw-plug-and-play-sound-system-for-spare-wheel-bay-000051419b Really not bad of a job once the rain lets up!

Helix Subwoofer Install
Most sellers are nice to communicate with, just ask if their programming dongle has the profile for the Octavia 3 as I think it came with a new firmware update. Dealers do also have them but in Manchester none of them seemed to have them. Maybe you might have better luck.

I got mine from Ebay, just a rental.

Helix Subwoofer Install
The programming is super easy, just plug in the device to the bottom. The device has a display, set it to 42(?) and press the selection button. Wait until programming is complete (few seconds) and done.

Helix Subwoofer Install
Hello all, Another day, another needlessly expensive project. I was interested in getting more mileage out of the sound system, even after the sizable bump from MIB 1 to MIB 2.5. I ended up reading over on the VW side of things they offer a kit by Helix for those without Dynaudio or in my case CANTON.. Install was very simple, add new radio harness adapter, remove the power pins from the original harness into the new one. Wire down the C-Pillar. Remove the plastic behind the rear passenger side seat belt to run the cable into the boot. The unit needs to be programmed using a speical tool to get the most mileage, Ebay sellers rent these for around £30. As these are designed for mainly the golf, the sound quality before programming isn't convincing to say the least. However after programming, the bass and sound quality boost from the subwoofer and DSP/Amplifier included with the unit is really something to be reckoned with.

Head and Taillight Retrofit
They're on aliexpress, there are multiple versions; some do not have the dynamic indicator. here's mine: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005068113713.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.order_detail_item.2.7b69f19cac7oHm

BCM and Gateway Upgrade
Hello once again everyone, As the title suggests, I’m going for a BCM and Gateway upgrade for my Octavia. Looking to get communication between VC and MIB 2.5 and ambient lighting retrofit. My current part numbers are; 5Q0907530F 5Q0937084AJ The new parts I have; 3Q0907530AC 5Q093784CQ I’ve read on another post, these part numbers should do for what I’m trying to achieve. My new BCM is a “5Q0” still, does this unit still use long coding? I have a VAS5054, Is there a service or guide that can help? Or with enough time and ODIS online, will I be able to parameterise and adapt the new units myself? Thanks everyone, Tooble

Head and Taillight Retrofit
Hello all, just to close off this post; I’ve gone ahead and opted to fit 3rd Party LED headlights whilst fixing another issue. Here’s how they look;

Head and Taillight Retrofit
They look great still. If it comes up on MOT in a couple weeks, I’ll try solder in a new row of LEDS with green light to create yellow. And yes, they do a light dance. Always when headlights are switched on. very nice when unlocking the car at night, always gets a few wows

2015 Octavia Creaking when driving/steering
Hello, for those searching due to a similar issue. After multiple garage trips and £600, What fixed mine; New passenger drop link £20 for a cheap one… it wasn’t in bad condition but the bottom bearing had lots of dirt ingress. Did the job myself, happy Octavia once again.

Honestly, I was dreading that - not cheap. luckily the fix was much simpler!

2015 Octavia Creaking when driving/steering
Hello all, I’ve had a developing issue with my 2015 Octavia, that’s been progressively getting worse. I’ve just spent around £400 having my full service, aircon and a part of the top suspension replaced. The car makes the noise in the video intermittently when driving or whenever the front end is shook up and down by hand. But doesn’t sound entirely related to suspension If anyone has had a similar issue or knows what it can be and can help, it would be greatly appreciated! https://youtube.com/shorts/zgfqx0qEveI?feature=share

MIB 2.5 and VC install
It’s been awhile, life gets like that sometimes… However in my experience, I didn’t need to modify it. How have you you gotten on with the install..?

Head and Taillight Retrofit
Another update, error codes are easily removed by changing some adaptions to reflect a factory LED installation. I can include the diagram here but it’s in the ‘Tried and Tested’ adaptions thread. I’ve set my parking lights as DRLs which looks nice for now!

Head and Taillight Retrofit
You’re exactly right. I didn’t realise this, thank you! It might just sneak by due to the standard indicator working as normal. If it causes issue for myself, I’ll need to get a soldering iron out…

Head and Taillight Retrofit
Hi again Langers, (To my rescue when I start a needless expensive project!) I believe the equivalent scan with OBD11 is a full backup. I’ve included the file here but unsure if it provides enough information. Please let me know! OBDeleven_Log.txt

Head and Taillight Retrofit
Hi all, Just a small update I’d like to share. The LED rear lights have arrived and have been installed. Very easy process, just removing T20 screws and installing the new lights into the original halogen connector. Here’s the finished result. The indicators are indeed dynamic, its the upper part of the DRL’s ‘C’ shape. If anybody can advise on the coding of the taillights? I have a ‘Check taillight’ left and right error Thanks All!

MIB 2.5 and VC install
Yes, your usb should be fine! I went from the very primitive MIB1. So it’s needed absolutely everything so far!

MIB 2.5 and VC install
Hi again, You can use a Stanley knife to just the tab off your connector, it should slot right in. If you’re installing a new usb plug for carplay, you can do the same with that connector too. alternatively, you can replace the cables but is way more costly

Head and Taillight Retrofit
Hello All, Following my successful retrofit of the VC and MIB 2.5 into my Octavia. I’m starting another retrofit. I’m mainly looking for guidance, retrofitting the BI Xenon with DRL onto my car. As for the rear, I’ve opted for a cheaper ‘plug and play’ Chinese rear LED lights in the style of the FL rear lights. These even have dynamic indicators. (To match my mirror lights!) I’ll be posting images and my thoughts once they arrive. With my car being an elegance spec, it already comes with the ‘HIGH’ bcm so it already has a chance of supporting the lights + it already has the headlight washers (bonus!) I already have the passenger side headlight and will need to source the driver side. I will also need to find out the following; -Is there a way to find out if my car’s BCM will support xenons via OBD11? -Will it be possible to retrofit the front + rear levelling sensors required? -Is anything else required? (I.e halogen to xenon plug adapter) I don’t believe anyone has done this before and documented it well. If anyone is able to help It’ll be truly appreciated!

MIB 2.5 and VC install
So the Columbus 9.2 set cost me about £800 with £200 installation. The 9.2 screen is the killer as it’s relatively rare. The glovebox MIB 2.5 unit are very easy to get. This was a set found on EBay. It maybe cheaper to find them separately. The advantage to buying a pre-unlocked set, it’s kind of “jailbroken” as component protection is removed and you can freely code the unit via OBD11. The VC, was from AliExpress and is actually for a superb, just with the octy facia to fit, this was about £650 too £200 for coding too, with the superb unit, part numbers won’t match. So it will take longer to code to the vehicle.

MIB 2.5 and VC install
Thanks! I got my unit second hand from a breaker on EBay. Seller was Lukas/DiscoveryPro on EBay. I got lucky with my unit but I’ve been told by multiple sources to generally avoid. Just make sure you get an invoice/receipt with the original vehicle’s vin etc as most people won’t code a stolen unit

MIB 2.5 and VC install
Hi, all Here’s the finished result! The MIB 2.5 fully fitted no sound issues with basic speakers, I taken it to someone who knows much more than me to do the adaptions, coding and dataset swaps. As I suspected, the unit being configured for Canton was no issue as the configuration is done in software and can be changed via adaptations, you can even enable Skoda surround and virtual subwoofer if you wish via OBD Eleven. No issues so far. Such a massive look and sound quality boost from the basic MIB 1 Adding onto this; I managed to source a VC on AliExpress. after waiting and receiving, the quality of the plastic surround could be better and the part is actually for a superb but works just fine in the Octavia. (albeit the wrong car is displayed, not fussed) I hired Derby Diagnostic Services do this but due to the part number being wrong, automatic adaption doesn’t work and will need to be manually coded/adapted to the car. With the genuineness of the unit being questionable, the unit works fine. No lag or delays. Even sending 3D maps works Oddly enough, I had bought the steering wheel buttons including the ‘view’ button however upon installation of the VC. My standard buttons work fine and can change the view. Unsure if this is due to it being a later 2015 model or due the car being a higher spec with the ‘High’ BCM but I’ll be seeking to the buttons later, it’s just no longer a priority. These are my findings and thoughts. Lastly, I’ll include some photos of the finished result!

MIB2 retrofit on an MY2015 L&K
Hi all, Sorry for kicking open a dead thread again! Thought I’d post an update regarding the unit. It’s in now! Removing Canton took some specialised coding from a local shop, but it’s in and has given my 2015 a major sound and visual boost!
