  1. So I'm sure elements of this have been posted in each of their own posts on the forum, as I've found a few of them! I have an Octy vRS Mk1 Estate for context. The first thing i noticed was the central locking started playing up. Then it rained really hard and flooded my rear left door (I replaced the window regulator last year and removed the destroyed membrane as it was basically useless). This door deadlocked and caused weird problems which look like microswitch problems, power turning on and off from the door and a small squeaking noise which would come on intermittently. I think this lead to draining the battery. I had to remove the cabin lights as these would flick on and off when the car was locked (it thought the deadlocked door was open). Roll on to last weekend central locking totally gubbed. All doors deadlocked apart from the drivers side which i opened using the key in the lock. The duff door the window had wound half way down while the car was locked. It would not go back up i assume due to previous flooding. I went out and bought a new battery thinking it was linked, put that in and my central locking resolved itself + i was able to put the window up, albeit jittery. I was also able to start the car. I cycle to work so didnt use it this week. Fast forward to today, i was going to drive to the tip to dispose of the old battery. Turned the key over, no clicking and didn't start. All electrics worked mind! Didnt even turn over, just absolutely nothing. Also now locked out of radio (doh). I spent the morning trouble shooting the battery, even put the old one back in but neither worked. Then the afternoon i stripped the deadlocked door from the inside and found the regulator plug was full of water, have unplugged it and sprayed it with contact cleaner for it to dry. I didnt notice any bent pins. I tried pulling the opener wire for the lock with pliers but no luck - pretty futile to try but why not lol. As i went to lock the car i realised only the front two doors are locking and not the boot. (both rear doors no longer lock - i manually push the plunger on the non deadlocked one). I spammed the lock button and eventually the boot locked. For the starting issue, it's been mentioned to tap the starter motor with a wooden mallet as it may be stuck, I havent tried this but am willing to give it a go. For the electrics my plan is is to borrow a mates multimeter and trace the wires fore and aft to see if there are any breaks. I've spent a fair bit of money lately on various servicing so I'm keen to crack on and fix it. I hope i've listed the faults i've been having but may have missed some out. I was hoping someone may have experienced anything like this before could give me some pointers as they'd be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
  2. Thanks for this how-to. it works for the back doors too as I tested today. I havent got so far as un deadlocking it, but I have visual pointers on problems in the door, rather than hunches, so I can now work towards fixing them! Cheers!
  3. Hello, sorry to bump, did you manage to sort this? Mine has done the same after the heavy rain we had up here on Saturday. I changed my window regulator back in december and removed the plastic seal. Ever since I've noticed a small amount of water on the inside of that door. I noticed today there is a small vibrating noise by the window button and the light flickers on and off when the ignition is on. Is there anything I could check before I force the door card off from the inside? Cheers
  4. Excellent I’ve ordered that 😊
  5. I’ve been a long time lurker and I finally picked up a mk1 vRS estate back in July. There’s a few small things wrong with it that I’d like to do soonish, two of which I’ve found parts for using this forum. The third thing is the window regulator has gone on the rear left door. This has meant I’m using tape to stop the window dropping into the door. I’ve looked through the forums and I can’t find the product code for the window regulator. I had a VW Golf mk4 before so I know they go all the time so I’m sure there’s a post on them somewhere! If anyone could help me out with the regulator code as I’ve seen two types online and short of me taking the door apart I’m not sure which one I need! Thanks! p.s if this is in the wrong part of the forum don’t hesitate to move it!
