the truth about electric cars
Driving outside the UK is fun sometimes😉 Part of the reason why an EV isn't an option for me yet.

the truth about electric cars
So whilst the phase out date for ICE cars is now 2035, there has been no change to the zero emissions mandate for the percentage of cars that manufacturers must sell that are zero emissions. If that's the case then it seems to me that nothing has really changed much? Whilst it will still be theoretically possible to buy a new ICE car in 2035 I guess the likelihood is that almost everyone will be forced into an EV long before then due to manufacturers not wanting to sell anything else. Are we likely to see ICE cars artificially inflated in price from next year? Quite likely I think - especially with a fine of £15k per car on the line for selling more than your allowance!

Engine oil
OK thanks.

Engine oil
Oil light has just come on on my car - done about 13,500 miles. Slightly confused as the oil label in the engine bay says it needs VW 507 00 but 0W 30. I thought that VW 507 00 was 5W 30? Probably being stupid but if someone could set me right I would be glad. My car is a 2.0 TDI 200 DSG 4x4.

Cambelt Replacement
Is there anything available online about the change in cambelt interval changes - particularly if it only applies to certain models/engines? My Superb shouldn't need this for quite a while as its only a year old but my wife has a 2019 Polo GTI which will be 5 years old next spring so would in theory be due under the old recommendation but will be quite happy if its not needed - particularly as its very low mileage.

What fuel consumption are you getting please.
Mine is a 2.0TDI 200 4x4 Estate Since I have started measuring in January the mpgs for each tank are as follows: 47.2 52.7 54 49.8 51.2 56.2 52.2 42.8 55 60.3 56.2 These are measured using fuel used against distance not trip computer readout (which is a little more optimistic). Mostly motorway miles where I take it slow - 60-65 mph normally but does include two trips to Germany when I generally cruise at 105-110mph. FWIW I managed 78mpg (trip computer readout) on my way home from work once (just over 30 miles mostly on motorway) which I was pretty impressed by and 70-75mpg on the same run is quite common too.

Superb Mk4
I have seen somewhere that both the Passat and the Superb will have a 690 litre boot so it hints at least that they will be very similar.

Superb Estate 1.6Tdi MPG
Must have a bigger tank than mine. One time when I refuelled, I was running on zero miles for the last few miles on the way to the fuel station and still only got 64 litres in. The tank is supposed to be 66.

Superb Estate 1.6Tdi MPG
I drove mine for around 5 miles with it showing zero miles a few weeks ago. Got about 64 litres in it.

2.0 TDI 4x4 MPG
Bit of an update - have done a few more journeys to work in the car and cruising at 60-65 on the motorway and generally being pretty economy focused I got 56 mpg on the way yesterday and 61 on the way back which I'm overall quite happy with. Will be interesting to get a proper brim to brim figure when I need to refuel. Company car goes back at the end of this week so I'll be using it full time from then and will start to get more data.

All Season Tyres....
I live in the south east UK and thinking to go for all seasons during the winter as we don't normally get too much cold weather but a bit unsure which would be best to go for. The Hankook looks a pretty good bet but just slightly concerned about the high rolling resistance on it as mpg is reasonably important to me. Is this likely to make much difference versus those with a slightly better rating in this area?

2.0 TDI 4x4 MPG
Thanks all - I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes! Would you say it is overall a good tow car? I got the towbar fitted when I bought it (which I have to say is a very neat arrangement) but I don't actually do much towing at present.

2.0 TDI 4x4 MPG
Just bought a 2.0 TDI 4x4 200 Estate SEL to replace my company car. Haven't used it much as I still have my company car for another couple of months but took it to work via my normal commute today which is about 30 miles, about 80% of it motorway, the rest being country lanes. Got about 47.5mpg (trip computer readout), motorway kept moving, speed varying between 55-75mph. Main question is can I expect this to improve much as the car racks up miles? It had only done about 30 before today. I do a fairly high annual mileage (circa 25k). Also if anyone has experience of mpg's of these at high speeds that would be of interest too as I do frequent trips to Germany and like to put my foot down when I'm there. Many thanks!
