  1. Hi, My tensioner failed at low revs and speed, the car juddered and stalled. It restarted and I drove home about a mile steadily. It seemed to drive normally if a little noisy. Next day it would start but not run. The check engine light was on. Pretty sure the Timing jumped a tooth. Q. do the valves always hit the pistons? do the valves always bend? Might I get away with an new tensioner and re-time? TIA
  2. I have the mk2 1.2 TSI currently at 70,000 miles on original belt. Not sure what to do. However my Fiat Motothome did not have the cam belt changed for 21 years/85,000 miles and when it was, this year, it was still in good condition. Play safe and spend unnecessarily or take a gamble????
  3. Yes, I too ended up going the hole with the bonnet catch, hell of a job getting the inner grommet out to get the new cable through - took hours just to get through the 2 bulkheads :(
