  1. That's very kind of you Pete. I think the tensioner failed and it jumped a tooth because of the way it juddered to a halt. Tensioner failure is a known issue on these and its approaching 90,000mls. I've asked my garage for a quote then I'll make a decision. The check light prob came on because the ECU noticed a mismatch.
  2. My cheap ODB reader says no codes??? Based Wiltshire.
  3. CBZBE FROM V5 so it is cam chain engine
  4. Motecarlo, 1.2TSI 105hp 2014. I understand there are 2 engine types in this model year. How do I identify mine? Are they both belt engines? Car is not being driven.
  5. Hi, My tensioner failed at low revs and speed, the car juddered and stalled. It restarted and I drove home about a mile steadily. It seemed to drive normally if a little noisy. Next day it would start but not run. The check engine light was on. Pretty sure the Timing jumped a tooth. Q. do the valves always hit the pistons? do the valves always bend? Might I get away with an new tensioner and re-time? TIA
  6. I have the mk2 1.2 TSI currently at 70,000 miles on original belt. Not sure what to do. However my Fiat Motothome did not have the cam belt changed for 21 years/85,000 miles and when it was, this year, it was still in good condition. Play safe and spend unnecessarily or take a gamble????
  7. Yes, I too ended up going the hole with the bonnet catch, hell of a job getting the inner grommet out to get the new cable through - took hours just to get through the 2 bulkheads :(
