  1. The final piece in this puzzle is the tailgate switch doesn't work as it should. The fix is a new switch but I rather like the fact the car can be unlocked and the tailgate remains locked until I consciously unlock it. So for now its staying as it is. Unless someone tells me that its possible to configure unlock procedure so tailgate stays locked with a working button Thanks all
  2. Thanks for the replies Delay in responding because life kinda got in the way and then PlusNet appeared to think I didn't deserve to be connected to the Internet! That piece from the manual is exactly what I wanted. Worried about being somewhere remote with the Scout, battery in key dying, and not being able to get into the boot area.
  3. A happy & prosperous new year to you all. Is it possible to open the tailgate on my Estate without using the specific button on the key fob? I've read the manual but cant find any reference to a switch or pull inside the car. What happens if the fob goes wrong? Thanks in advance,
  4. Thanks. I did search but I didn't see anything I will try your suggestions. Probably rely on 'phone. Best would be to upgrade the whole thing to Apple Car Play and then we can use the latest software from Apple. But that won't happen.
  5. Hello Previously working now I don't see any alerts at all. I have gone through the manual & check all settings are OK, but nothing. Any suggestions, please. I downloaded and installed the latest maps 18months ago, but traffic worked in UK & in Europe after. Traffic stopped about 2months ago, so I dont thing its related Thanks in advance.
  6. 1st fave is Galicia.* Atlantic coast, beaches, mountains, food and again not too many N European tourists as long as you keep away from Santiago. Spain is much more than the Costas but I am happy that most people go there. We used to drive through France all the time as I loved going into the small way of route villages and camping by the rivers. But as my job took me to different lands, my wife would fly to her village & I would fly into Madrid and catch the train and then blag a car of the family. My experience of that 2 day voyage - about 10montsh ago was wonderful. Wife does the booking so not certain of teh money but she indicated not onerous. But I loved the French crew and food. This was well outside any busy time. * Wife comes from Asturias so if she gets to read this, I'm lying dear.
  7. Not long come back from a couple of months in Extremadura. Its the first time I've spent much time there and now consider it my 2nd favourite place in Spain. 100Kms due west of Madrid through to the Portuguese border. Its green, wide open spaces and interesting mountains makes for great driving country. Very few tourists, Spanish or N European, plenty of little hostals to stay in. Ive no specific routes for you but it is an area overlooked and worth making the trip. Some basic Spanish is useful for ordering food, but the tourist offices in just about every village can speak English.
  8. Most years a local musician arranges for a random set of oldish cars to gather in the church yard* in the middle of Kings Heath high street. Anything is allowed in, Chevy Bel Aires, BMW 6 series, Beetles, Dauphines, Healeys etc etc. I'll be taking my Porsche but if anyone wants to rock up with a Rapide or something, please do Food, music, from 10 to 15. No charges. Any profits go to local pre-school group. Come along to show or stare. Sainsbury's, coffee shops etc 50m away so SWMBO can have a good time also * The flat bit, no head stones.
  9. Late report on this Main thing was the DSG, oil, filters and reset to 'zero'. Then told to go and drive for 200 miles so it could learn my driving style. Well that make a huge difference. In regular drive all upchanges much snappier, held on to the intermediates for about 500rpm more. The reversing much closer to how I would drive with a manual box. Reverse still slightly hesitant but much better than was. They downloaded latest navigation system software which made the nav respond much quicker to direction changes at junctions. So all good
  10. Try Bridge, Newport, Abergavenny, Rhayader, Aberystwyth then follow the coast. These aren't twisty B roads, which you can easily incorporate, but they will get you across what might be a stack of holiday traffic Premier Inn at Aberystwyth is on the sea front & free parking
  11. Thanks for the pictures. Skoda & Tatra museum v high on my list to see on mainland. I managed a group of people in Bratislava for 5 years but never managed to carve out time to drive West.
  12. If its a sunny summer like last year, make certain you have places to stay or camp. Past 2 years Scotland has been full, to the extent the local councils were trying to turn people away. Also the 500 can be so popular you have queues on normally desolate roads I would go during term time if you can
  13. Excellent! I'm planning the Eastern side of the Adriatic as far south as a ferry to the toe of Italy, then back up through Italy. At 70 I see my mortality a lot clearer than at 20 or even 60. Gonna burn the kids inheritance & disappear in a flash. No fade away!
  14. Late back to this. Busy weekend in the Smoke Thanks for all the suggestions, I will put them all on the list I don't have a service package as such, just an agreement with the local dealer as I don't want to have to come back to UK to get it serviced and I might be somewhere warm. (90/180 day restrictions allowing)
  15. Hello I'm about to send the '17 Scout DSG to local dealer for service. its done 22k and so teh service is very early but I want to get it done before I start travelling this year and I belive in changing the oil etc more often than extended periods listed for modern cars. Any suggestions what I should ask for beyond the usual filters and fluids? On my list: 4x4, Haldex oils and filters Check cruise control for correct operation. Occasionally sticks in lower speed when I try to nudge it up using switch end rocker switch Re-set Sat Nav. According to dealer serv manager the sat nav needs a software upgrade and checking its handling the satellite signals accuratley. This should be a free service which I negotiated on buying the car, so give it your all please Thanks
