Thank you. First I'll work out which one I have!

DSG7 in my 2015 (54 reg) Rapid is that wet or dry clutch?
Re the edited comment (vroom) the code matrix in "service book" doesn't tell me (following decoding) - will try the other things you said - thank you.

Thank you. Following that to its logical conclusion (?) - not oil change needed at 40k then?

DSG7 in my 2015 (54 reg) Rapid is that wet or dry clutch?
Can someone kindly give me the definitive answer (i have searched but get conflicting answers from different sources). Mine is a 1.4TSi CAXA engine. Apologies in advance if this qualifies as a dumb question.

Photography Thread
Taken at my first ever visit to a Goodwood Breakfast Meeting in April 2008. It was sunny when we left home. Then this happened. You can just about glimpse the paddock area in the background. This wasn't my car by the way.

Mobile Tyre Fitting - any recommendations?
So in the end I went with Tyresonthedrive (Halfords) - much wider range of tyres this time. Good tracker app and the fitter turned up on time. Highly competent and good care taken with my wheels etc. Would use again. Price was competitive and booking fee was minimal (£8 for all 4) as I was able to select an 8-8 slot (you get guidance about the expected time and your fitter's progress on the day). If you request a more specific time slot the charge is generally more. Balancing, valve etc is "free".

My Rapid not fully compatible with MySkoda App
I was thinking - as Skoda only have on line servicing records then surely I should be able to see the headline history of my recently acquired car on the App. Wrong - for some reason my 2015 Rapid is not compatible - the range of services is described as "limited" - an understatement. So I guess the only other option is to see if my local dealer can print it off for me?

Best or Favourite Cars You've Owned/Driven
My obsession started decades before when I read an article about a Lotus 7 with a twin cam lotus engine in it. For years I made regular trips to Caterham Cars when they were in their original building and tried to work out my budget. It turned out many years later that a close friend had a similar obsession - so a plan emerged that we would go halves on the purchase price and running costs - meeting early mornings at weekends for a quick blast and breakfast (or an event). Every 3 years or so we would swap for the next obsession - partying with maybe another £1500 each time having had 3 years of fun.

Best or Favourite Cars You've Owned/Driven
I bought both of mine second hand after 10 years of thinking I'd find the time to build one. Started with a 2nd hand Westfield before that.

Best or Favourite Cars You've Owned/Driven
Interesting thread and some good stuff in here. My answer would be: - most enjoyment in a short time span - Caterham Supersport - all rounder - 350Z - fun - 2CV - rose tinted (?) memories - Alfasud ti, Alfa 145 QV (the sold called flying bread van) - reliability - 29 year old Toyota Corolla which I still have

Fabia DSG oil change
Yes - thanks. I cooked some brake fluid once on a track day in a 309Gti (in theory it had been filled with high temperature fluid and DS2500 pads - so I had been told) - it was an interesting experience - fortunately it was on an old airfield with plenty of run off! I had been driving quite enthusiastically 😁

Fabia DSG oil change
Than you again toot. Spark Plugs were done 3 years ago. I've just done air filter, pollen filter, oil and oil filter as the recent service invoices were insufficiently detailed (local mechanic, hand written, summary level only). Brake fluid - no record of that so unless I can trace a record of one then I will have that done - although fluid very clear, pedal hard and consistent etc, no pulling to one side or the other - disks barely worn (eg. no lip) - but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Cosmetically and in every other way (on the face of it) the car is immaculate and I don't say that lightly.

Fabia DSG oil change
The Recall Information Service is "temporarily unavailable" so plan B - the phone next week! In fairness, my contacts with Skoda Parts Direct, Caffyns (re parts) and Marshalls in Croydon have been pretty good so far in terms of basic things like communication, returning calls as promised, delivery updates etc. I've only made one service related contact so far which was the call about DSG service......we will see.

Fabia DSG oil change
Thank you toot. As I only have limited and mainly recent history I'll look into that. I bought it from an independent dealer. Skoda would only tell me about any other previous history they had once I had the V5 which I now have. Fortunately I have driven it quite a bit now and there are no obvious issues with the gearbox or anything else.

Fabia DSG oil change
Sorry toot......I'm probably being thick but what are you recommending?

Fabia DSG oil change
I had exactly the same question about the DSG on my Rapid but that is 8 years (also 26k on the clock) and no evidence of a previous DSG oil change. The official schedule does appear to be 40k or every 4 years but when I rang my local Skoda dealer; to my surprise they said it was fine to leave until 40k miles. However, as the cost of a change was less than I thought I might have it done at the time of the next service.

Skoda Rapid bulb types
Just an update on this thread which has been very helpful. I tried to order the Fabia emergency bulb set for my Rapid as a good starting point (about 75% of the required bulbs are in it). Sadly I was told by Skoda Parts Direct that it is no longer available so I've got an Autolamps set from Ebay which pretty much does the same thing. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363048904528

Mobile Tyre Fitting - any recommendations?
Thank you. I have used Halfords once some time ago but at that time the range of tyres for mobile fitting was really small (like 2 types!). I'll try and track down some local reviews as you suggest - there might just be a "non-branded" local that is worth a try.

Mobile Tyre Fitting - any recommendations?
As I am having to care for my wife at the moment I will need to use a mobile service - two tyres are badly split on the outside corner edges (the normal Bridgestone issue). There are a number of mobile services from the big companies: Halfords Tyres on the Drive Kwik Fit National Has anyone used any of these services - any recommendations re quality of service, price, fitting, care with wheels etc? Thanks in advance for any feedback. I'm in Coulsdon - near bottom of M25.

Pretty much my first digital era car!
Yes - I meant the valve core and yes it's the instructions that go with the standard "no spare wheel" kit that was still in the car. Spare core comes with kit. Gunk is obviously fine for normal punctures - my last "event" I had major tyre damage when something fell off the back of a lorry on the M1 which I couldn't avoid....and of course it was in torrential rain.

Pretty much my first digital era car!
Same here, Gaz, re number of times it's actually happened to me - I just I didn't fancy being stuck on a motorway in the poring rain, removing valve stems, reading instructions and then discovering that the damage to the tyre meant I couldn't use the gunk anway!

Pretty much my first digital era car!
Having been accustomed to two 29 year old Toyotas (which I still have) and weekend toys which, in the past, included 2 Caterham 7s and an Elise S1 (all now sadly gone) - I have just acquired a 2015 Rapid 1.4TSi DSG with just 26k on the clock to comply with the new ULEZ zone extension which is coming in next year. I'm pretty impressed so far, albeit the Owners Manual has managed to fox me a few times! Before I joined I had already found very useful stuff from this site. Anyway - hello! Only thing of significance I have acquired so far is a proper spare wheel - which just proves what an old codger I am 🤣
