Solved: clunking from the front suspension turned out to be the bottom nut on the anti-roll bar/drop link. It wasn’t obvious when everything was bolted together because the joint was still being held under load, so the play was effectively hidden. Once I undid the top nut, the anti-roll bar/drop link could move freely and the fault became clear. If you have a metallic clunk or boing over bumps, it’s worth checking the anti-roll bar nuts are tight. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions.

Hi Breezy_Pete, Thanks for you thoughts - appreciated. One of my first thoughts were; that this might be the case. Whilst up on the ramps I checked the heatshields, nothing found. It's a much more of a metal to metal bouncing sound.

I got a big lad to bounce the car whilst I looked @ the top mounts, little movement & equal both sides. there's no play felt through the steering wheel, which makes me rule-out track rod end??. But something is causing the R tyre to scrub both sides. Left is normal. ... Now looking at all my typos, I really must write these posts a bit slower:

Have a listen to the audio & share your thoughts. I've replaced both wishbones & anti role bars a couple of months ago. This rattle started about a week ago & is progressively getting worse. The right hand tyres is wearing on the edges, both inside & outside. Turning the teering wheel on a flat road doesn't create the sound. Only when driving over drains or potholes. I've had on ramps and had the wheel off. I can't see anything obvious Skoda front suspension rattle.mp3

If your unsure whether its a faulty bush, try this test. If your wheel moves this much the bushes are knackered. VID20260311155157b.mp4

I have today discovered the cause. The front bush on the left Wishbone / Suspension Arm is knackered. I've ordered a replacement. I post this just in case anyone else lands here after searching Google for rattle under car or similar. On the 1.6 TDI 105bhp it's a steel sheet part. NOT a cast iron part. I order the entire wishbone, complete with bushes to avoid me having to fight with pressing out the old bush. Life's too short. And I order new bolt too £6. Stay Safe!🙂

I have exactly the same noise on my 2012 Octavia Estate. Did you every ID the cause?

Apologies if I'm starting a new thread when another recent/currently already exists. I'm new here. 😀 I’ve recently purchased (private sale from a friend) 2012 Octavia Excellence Estate, very happy apart from it collects clear rain water in the wheel well which he wasn’t aware of. The video shows how it’s entering the boot area which is shortly after moving off or when cornering (car leans). It’s like it’s leaking stored clean rain water into the wheel well from somewhere somehow. I drove through many muddy puddles; the dirty water didn’t enter the wheel well which leads me to believe rain water is being stored somewhere when it rains & then leaks into the wheel well when the vehicle is driven After the rain stops, if I drive the car for 12 mins or 120 mins the amount of water in the wheel well doesn’t increase. Not yet driven it for a long period whilst raining. It’s definitely not; water entering through the two side vents or rear light clusters. I've had the bumper off to check. The rubber boot surround has the correct drain holes & shows no sign of water leaking past the rubber seals. How is the rain water entering the rear body? See video: All ideas & thoughts welcome.
