  1. Update, just heard back from the garage and they are charging for the full price of the alignment even though they couldn't do the front? Is that normal?
  2. Hey - as title states, took my car in for a 4 wheel alignment, and they are saying they can't do it because the track rod ends are seized. They are trying to charge £80 for parts and 4 hours of labour to fix. I am going to do the work myself but had some queries: 1) Can I just replace the track rod end or is it worth doing the whole track rod? 2) They are saying they have already aligned the rear, so if I was to fix the track rods ends myself would I need to get the rears checked again? Not sure if they need to match up or something? (probably stupid question but I'd rather check) 3) Been watching some videos on how to replace the whole rod, does anyone know the socket size to undo the inner rod? been looking at this sort of thing https://www.diy.com/departments/track-rod-end-remover-installer-socket-35-45mm-neilsen-ct3182-/5055282031827_BQ.prd Thanks!!
  3. It started happening randomly for a few weeks, then the main right hand headlight bulb went, which I replaced, but the light didn't go away The warning is constant even when the lights aren't on
  4. Hey. I recently had a warning light for a light bulb being blown appear on my Octavia, but no bulbs are out? Anyone got any ideas? I recently replaced a front light bulb but it is working fine.. could it not be happy with it? Cheers!
  5. I'm sure you're probably correct - but no need to be so insufferable On the plus side everything is torqued down and job finished now, will check the torque in a few days 👍
  6. Literally every member of this forum has cross threaded a bolt at some point, no need to be condescending. If it works it works. It's tight as hell and fully done up. Even if the car is still somehow alive long enough to need another new set of shocks, I'll still be in the same situation next time I need to undo it.
  7. Thank you all for the ideas, in the end copious amounts of copper grease allowed me to get it done up tight.. it's a high miler so hopefully it will be it's last set of shocks so I don't have to undo it again lol
  8. Would I use that as well as the tap/die? Bit confused to the benefits of it?
  9. Hi all, Was fitting new shocks and springs to the rear of my Octavia, and I crossthreaded the bolt which goes through the bottom of the shock - I measured the bolt with a caliper and it said 13mm, but wondered if anyone knew exactly what type of bolt this was? Then I can order a tap/die for exactly that size. Or any 'hacks' I can try to fix? It's a pain because that hole is closed/doesn't go through the otherside, so I guess is harder to rethread? Annoying as we're supposed to be driving to the peak District at the weekend!
  10. Ah good idea.. slow moment thought xenon lights were one sealed unit! cheers
  11. Hi All, was driving in the dark yesterday and noticed my drivers side xenon light wasn't working on my 2012 MK2.. and got a warning light on the dashboard I've swapped the lights over and the passenger side works with that sides connector, so it must be an issue with the actual bulb unit. Am I looking at a replacement or is there a common fault/fix I can try? Cheers!
  12. Just as an update to this, it was the exhaust clamp as hoped. I'm surprised it wasn't louder haha. Spot the issue... Easy fix This is the part if anyone else has the same issue: https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/klarius-exhaust-clamp-712440201
  13. Panic over, I'm 90% sure its the slip joint/clamp for the front section of the exhaust. Thank the lord for the internet lol.
  14. Hi, On the way home from work today pulling off a sliproad I started to hear a rattle underneath what sounded like underneath the center console.. it is worse at lower RPM. Anyone had anything similar? Cheers 20230130_184620.mp4
  15. Wonder if you can remove and inspect/clean the EGR unit to try and prevent failure Should have done my research and got a PD! 😅
