I have asked for more details, but i believe they said on the phone that it was a small leak/sweat, and that it was on the spark plugs in the back? Not sure if they meant it was dripping down on the plugs or what.

They just changed the sparked plugs and oil/filter on the service now. That was when they noticed it they said.

I just had my 2016 1.8 TSI on service, and they told me there was a small leak from the valve cover gasket. They wanted 15 000NOK to fix it which is like 1160£ or 1330EUR. For reference they charge about 2000NOK per hour for the work on these kinds of places. I havent got any more details, but does this seem legit or is it extremely expensive? I am by no means a mechanic, but this amount for changing a gasket sounds a bit wild.

I have a 2016 octavia 1.8TSI 4x4 combi which is due for an oil change. How much do I need? Can I find that in the manual somewhere? Local shop sells 4 liter containers. Will that be enough?

I got an error code in my 2016 octavia about light assist. I had it serviced now and they said there was a fault on the controller (not sure if that is the right name in english) that is inside the mirror(the one inside the car). J844/mirror needs replacement. Trying to get a used one. What is the part number on this? How do I know the exact model definition of my car (5e3, 5e5, 5e6 NI3 etc..)

I have lost the ball cap cover for the towing hitch and need a new one. What is the diameter of the ball? A local store sells one that fits 50mm balls, is that the right size?

I am well aware of how a heat pump process works, the energy input is usually electrical energy to the compressor. And the byproduct being energy absorbed(cooling)/released(heating) through the processes of evaporation and condensation. I was just a bit unsure how the electrical power consumption of the compressor linked to fuel consumption. I assume the compressor gets power from the battery. Which is charged by the dynamo when driving. But will the engine have to "work harder"/consume more fuel when using elecrical components like fans, seat heating etc? Or is it a case of "you get what you get" and the battery charges at a set rate when driving, and if you happen to use more than the dynamo charges(typically when standing idle), the battery drains?

How does the AC consume fuel?

I dont quite understand these modes and exactly what they do. 1. When I press the auto button - is it correct that it then regulates the fan speed automatically to reach the temperature that I have chosen? 2. What does the AC button do? What is the difference between having the button activated or not? If it is warm outside and I have set the temperature to say 16 centigrades, and have only the auto button active and not the AC button, will it not cool? Have tried reading the manual, but this is very poorly explained there..

little update here, I replaced the blower motor and the sound is gone 👍

i believe the speed control is working correctly, the reason im replacing it is because of a whistling sound that according to my local Skoda dealer probably was a worn bearing in the blower motor.

I have searched on a couple different auto part sites for that number now, and found a matching one for about 150£. I also found one that is supposed to match my car (based on licence plate number) at only half the price, but not the same part number. The cheap one is labeled "with internal regulator", while the most expensive one with matching number says "without internal controller". On some sites this was called "turtallsregulator" which translates to speed controller or rpm regulator. What does that mean? Is that something I dont need since it is not there on the matching number blower?

Have checked it now. Mine is the one ending with A. So that means i need a blower with the number 5Q1819021J?

I have decided to replace the AC fan myself and buy a new one online. How do I know which one to get? I went on one the major car parts sites for the norwegian market and typed in AC fan and my plate number. The search yielded several hits on different fans for different prices that supposedly fit my car. How do i know which one is correct? Here is the link to one I think may be right. changed it now. It was slightly different from the mk2, the clamping plate and the bolt at the base of the battery were placed at the short side of the battery by the positive pole, as opposed to on the side like it was on the mk2. It was actually a bit easier to reach now, so thats an improvement. Had a few warning lamps pop up straight away which dissappeared when I took it for a little spin. I'll see if I can drop by the local autoshop and have them code it for me this week. Is that register you speak of international or UK only?

Also I was looking for a guide on how to physically replace it. Know of any tutorials or videos that shows it? I have done it previously on a mk2, but not sure if its identical on the mk3 with regards to how the battery is fastened. There was a hard to reach plate and a bolt locking on the mk2.

I dont have a VCDS. The old battery is an EFB (see attachment). The new one I bought is a 70Ah AGM. Can I just swap them, or do I have to code anything? I have no knowledge about that kinda stuff.

Hello! Does anyone have a guide on how to replace the battery in the mk3? I have found a couple video tutorials on the mk2, but not the mk3. Not sure if there is any difference.

Is this easy to fix myself? Could anyone help me with a link to a video showing this? Is it easier to just replace the entire fan?

yeah, apparently it is a bearing in my AC fan!

it does seem to be highest when the car is rolling and i dont press the accelerator. Pressing the brake or accelerator will in many cases make it reduce or go away. It also seems to change when i turn the steering wheel. But like i said, i can hear it when standing still, so it doest seem to be anything with the wheels.
