Octavia MK3 Smartlink Activation
I used vision coding.co.uk - also got the wireless adapter for the USB port. In total about £90. Works flawlessly. Mk3 Octavia 2016.

Rear wiper motor - sourcing replacement in UK
I got mine ( for a mk2 Octavia) from car spares direct on eBay. They sent the wrong one initially but the replacement has been fine.

Clutch
I paid about £900 earlier this year. Slave cylinder needed replacing so had clutch replaced at the same time.

Hot start problems
Camshaft position sensor? Mine has this problem and it's shown as a fault with a vcds scan. Not an expensive part but I'm leaving mine to my mechanic as it involves timings check.

ABS Module Removal
Finally found the cause of the problem was the yaw sensor under the driver's seat. My original abs unit was probably ok. I sent it to ecutesting and it came back no fault found. Somehow in putting it back I screwed the clutch slave cylinder and got a further abs fault. My local mechanic replaced the slave cylinder and clutch at the same time. To cure the abs fault I then purchased off eBay s used abs unit. This was probably faulty and I ended up with the same faults. Eventually sent my original abs unit for repair and they found 2 faults, 1the normal brake pressure issue and another in the ECU. Returned unit was fitted which cleared all faults except the original! Replaced the yaw sensor and all faults cleared. The yaw sensor was about £13 off eBay and took about 45 minutes to replace. - should have tried that first...

ABS Module Removal
I did run a full vcds scan and no abs wheel speed sensor faults. My garage have just advised that the abs/ECU unit is faulty. Replacement (used) on order so hopefully back in the garage next week. I'll keep you posted.

ABS Module Removal
I had (and still have) the same fault. I removed the unit and had it checked by ECUtesting. Unfortunately it came back as no fault found. Yes you can split the unit from the electronics, have a search on YouTube, there's plenty of info there. I somehow buggered my clutch slave cylinder when bleeding the system with a gunsons easi bleed. £950 for new clutch and slave cylinder - take it easy!! Mines booked in to a VW specialist in January for repair.

REAR WIPER MOTOR
I used a plastic tyre lever and plenty of brute force. The best part to start at is one of the corners that would be nearest the tail lights. It feels like it's going to break but seem pretty resilient. I used a wiper arm puller as the arm seemed welded onto the spline. Mine was pretty rusted inside the gear assembly due to blocked washer jet allowing fluid to run into the gears. A bit of cleaning and it's back working. Also the trim went back without too much trouble.
