Estate rear end just slid out a little easily?
So I have a 2014 vrs Estate. I was driving along a country road doing 30 (busy) I looked down to adjust temp, looked up to see a corner, quickly turned right to avoid the corner! I was on a little bark/mud and the back end slid out, front end started sliding toward the other side of the road, something kicked in, assume traction / esr? Felt like the car braked steered left/right/left super quick and we were back in control! Should the rear end slide out like that? I know it depends on the situation but it felt like it happened very easily and wasn't at a super speed or super muddy etc, understand it was my driving at fault but just felt like it all happened a bit easy! Of course very grateful for whatever corrected me. Maybe I'm not quite used to driving a long car!!

Water in the doors and a cranky start!
Evening all. Funny how you find all the common problems of a car after you buy one! Does anyone know how I can find service bulletin numbers or whatever they call them? I've realised most of my doors hold water then have a big puddle on the sill when you open and they don't dry out too well. I read there was new seals with new drain holes? Is there any number for this as I'm making a list to take to a garage. Secondly being a 2014 tdi VRS Estate, extra long cranking is happening once or twice a week when I start , it starts but cranks for a good 6-10 seconds, and it worries me! I also saw there was a software update for this? Again does anyone know how I find the number so I can give the dealer no excuses if I take it in? Or are these issues you'd just live with? The water worries me as every window has a fair bit of condensation after rain! Thanks

What should be in this cubby hole / storage area?
For info, here it is I was after. It seems it's not standard and a few people have done a DIY job screwing brackets into the car and fixing in place as there's no brackets for it to fit In from what I can figure, probably not worth the effort for me!

What should be in this cubby hole / storage area?
No not that, I don't have the false floor unfortunately! I just wondered if I could somehow partition the area off to make a little storage bin like on the other side. Thanks though

What should be in this cubby hole / storage area?
Perfect. Thanks for that! Why are there hokes cut out at above it? Odd?! Is there a plastic panel I can get to put there so it's more storage?

What should be in this cubby hole / storage area?
Evening all, Another question for you knowledgeable lot, Octavia mk3 estate, what should be in this cubby hole area? It's the right side of a UK estate. The left side has a plastic insert making a nice little storage area, this area has nothing and some ventilation holes above?! Can I get a little insert too make it a storage bin? Thanks all!

When does the amount of regens become a worry
Interesting, I have read about this, but I thought this was mk2? I'm an early MK3. I've stuck my VIN number in the checker and says I'm not affected?! So assume thats not something I can do
-
When does the amount of regens become a worry
So I've a 2014 TDI VRS ESTATE. It seems to do (or keep trying ) regens quite frequently. I've done some reading and prefering to take the "just let the car do it's thing don't worry" advice. But, I wonder how many active regens will it try before issues start!? A Diesel probably wasn't the best choice, Mon - Thu is 3/4 short town trips a day 10 / 20 mins. Fri - sun longer hour long trips 60mph +. Most days it tries an active regen (higher idle / fans running on switch off) typically always just as the car gets back on the drive!

What's your quick interior clean methods?!
Thanks guys. I've just realised I think my previous owner was a dog owner, found some tiny white hairs in places! Either the garage selling, or him, have kept it incredibly clean though as its in places near on impossible to see/reach. That said, I'll be doing a deep clean anyway. I've settled on a soft brush, some auto finesse Total to give dash/plastics/doors/carpets a good clean and some dodo juice for the seats as I've noticed a few grease marks and drivers side is incredibly shiny! Then a regular gentle hoover / clean once where I'd like it!
-
What's your quick interior clean methods?!
Thanks all some excellent ideas coming out. I think a decent soft brush of the surfaces, dash, nooks and crannies to get dust and particles off, decent hoover all round with attachments to pick it all up, then just got to pick a spray / wipe to get any grease / marks / dirt of the plastics etc. Oh and the seats! Wonder if theres a spray I could get to cover both the dash / plastics and the leather seats! Threadbear.... I can already imagine how clean and spotless your interior is! I have young kids and we're in the car, alot! So it's a make the best of it situation! Lovely yesterday when the eldest stepped in a muddy puddle straight onto the seat bolster then seat back and said... "There's a puddle of mud there what are we going to do? I want to put my feet there" haha!
-
What's your quick interior clean methods?!
Thanks guys. Good answers here! I'm finding top of the dash has small bits of dust / particles etc on so I was thinking of brushing off first so it doesn't scratch if I use a cloth and water. Didn't think about scratching the glass n touchscreen etc. Thanks. So are these leather wipes really worth it?! I've seen some on Amazon then also saw some Armorall leather wipes for about a 5th of the price would they do the same? I mean they seats aren't actually leather. I used to use baby wipes but I guess they'll give a shine and not be great for the seats?! I can't believe how immaculate the last owner of my car left it, or it had one heck of a deep clean by the sales! But within a week or so it's lost that new look haha! I do have a couple vacum attachments so I'll do that first I think. The little cracks in the leather seats look fun to get bits out of!

What's your quick interior clean methods?!
I'm notorious for not keeping my cars tidy enough, it then gets harder and harder to get clean again! What can people suggest that doesn't take hours and use 12 different products but keeps on top of everything, If I do weekly! Along the lines of hoover everywhere, some form of wipe maybe for the carbon fibre inserts / dash buttons. Microfiber cloth for the glass instruments and something for the infotainment and windscreen? Oh and something for the leather seats! I want to get a small kit that can do all this so will buy some bits and products , but not planning to get hundreds of bottles and do in depth cleaning every couple days like I know some do (wish I had time / dedication) Thanks in advance and sorry if it's a stupid question!

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Thanks Yeti. I am starting to think it's just got a different power delivery than I'm used too. Having driven it, it's alot quicker than I'm used too between 0 and 70mph! Just not quite got the same pull I'm used too once in 6th. You're right, it's not economical,i just don't think I've changed down a year in years just not used to it haha. I'm working my way through this advice here and will keep an eye on things, so far really enjoying the car. (Except my MPG, but I believe that maybe right foot related!) If all goes well, time to save up and decide if the retrofits are worth it!!!!

You guys may be on to something! Hardly new is it, assuming this wouldn't be helping matters! How do I get the snow grate off? I've snapped one bit trying 😔. There's a large leaf stuck under there!!

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Hi guys. Thanks. Certainly not limp mode. Goes passed 3k in other gears just fine. It just felt like it had hit it's limits. I have found my tools today and off to check the air filter, then getting hold of friends odb11 soon to check that. Another short journey today resulted in an interrupted regen! I'll read up on the dpf. I'm out in a couple days long journey and near a shell garage so will treat the car some v power! Appreciate you all helping and reading, I'll update again!

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
So, lots more driving today. Before I head to the garage for a check, just tell me it's not my driving style? Or I'm expecting too much of the car? Couple occasions, driving happily in 6th at 70, 2k revs, Hill coming up, foot flat, climbs 71,72......73... Hill continues (steep but not crazy) 72,...71...72....71...... Sticks there and almost like it has nothing left in the tank! I felt like I was in an old 1l car going up hill where I wanted to keep changing down! Am I expecting too much? Is 2k revs at 70 a matter of drop a gear? My old diesel would do 60 in 6th and continued to climb the whole way up hills without hesitation. I'm used to cruising at dual carriageway speeds then if needed just putting foot down and getting power, maybe I expect too much though?! Interestingly the last journey was an hour, 15 min of stop start then 45 min of 60mph plus roads. Stopped on the drive, turned off and assume a regen was going on as sounded like loud fans running after engine off? I forgot a journey so headed straight back out anyway, after that (10 minutes) I couldn't hear it when I stopped. (should you do anything different if a regen is happening? Thanks

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
I don't think it "slowed down" but it "felt the hill" and I almost thought about changing down a gear! That said, it's such a new car to me, I just need to adjust and do a lot more driving! As you've mentioned differences, each car is different I guess and getting used to where that power and pull comes from will come I'm sure! Your driving style sounds similar, we do quite long journeys also. Interesting you say a good long journey makes it feel more responsive after. Do you generally shorter trips? Maybe a good hard run does it some good then! Yes I'll be putting the v power in, although I'm actually not that close to a shell garage! Thanks for the comment!

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
So... For those who may be interested.... I just did the exact same route in my old civic for comparison! I do believe it's certainly a different delivery of power. The civic is flat u till about 2.2k revs then wanes off around 4k, VRS felt like it had power from zero but to about 3k. Coming off the roundabout going up the steep hill in civic was similar and it hit the same point where the vrs struggled, but it did keep going and felt faster going up the hill. Just felt like it had more puff! The return small incline starts at traffic lights onto a perfect straight of dual carriageway that's on a small incline, the civic felt like a bus doing this in comparison. So slow! The VRS felt (and was) much quicker/more powerful. I'm sure I looked at the same point and the vrs was a good 20/25 mph ahead where the civic was. So my very technical analysis so far (can you tell I'm not very experienced in the technical world of cars!) is that the power delivery is different with the civic feeling like it can keep going a bit more when going uphill, but the majority of other areas the VRS was more fun and fast! I'll update when I check air filter and the other bits etc

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
In fact I've just done some more research on the forums. While I'll be doing all the things mentioned above, I'm starting to wonder if it's how the power is delivered in comparison to my old car. I've read a few people complaining uphill feels slow and people stating the torque is delivered differently, more linear, so in fact "feels" a tad slower uphill whereas older engines have delivered the torque in one big lump? Could be that I'm feeling also!

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Appreciate your reply and all the other guys too. Given me lots to go on. I'm hoping it's nothing more serious than being sat around and needing a good hard drive! (I can certainly manage that!) the car was immaculate inside and very good out so it's been looked after but obviously that's not to say it was used as a school run car daily! I like the 50 to 70 idea, how would I go about that? Literally sit in 3rd at 50 then accelerate to 70 and time it?
-
Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Good questions. I can't answer the gradient except relatively steep! Speed wise, it's the start of a dual carriageway off a roundabout, time I hit the hill was probably third at 70ish? I think!

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Thanks toot. The 60k was only oil filter change I believe. So diesel filter change woukd likely help as you say. I'll check air filter and see what's there. I will certainly give the v power diesel a shot, nothing to lose, except a couple quid! I just wasn't sure if it wasn't as torquey as I was used too, or was lower down the revs or something. I'll give it all a bit more time, still getting used to it really, along with the bumpy ride I'm not used too! Reminds me, must check tyre pressures too! Sorry its a manual by the way. Thanks

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Thanks guys. Tank was 3/4 full. So assuming not that, interesting that happens though! I've not plugged anything in no I don't have access to anything to scan the vehicle although a friend has an odb11 would that do the same? It's just been serviced, however after I brought it, I get the feeling the cars been sat around a while! Driving home I had a nice puff of white (hoping condensation not smoke) come out when I hard accelerated for thr first time also Found A cobweb and a moth inside too lol! It's done 60k so get a feeling hasn't been a long journey car, please dont mention DPF to me!! We've literally had it less than a week and only done a couple long journeys so hopefully I can "break it in" a bit more if that's an issue. Does shell V power actually make a difference? Might try that!

Vrs TDI uphill struggle!
Evening all. Very new owner of a 14 plate vrs Estate. Tonight was the first time I was on a dual carriageway going uphill (driving it very hard!) and I felt it struggled a bit, well that's probably the wrong word, it continued accelerating the whole time but when the hill was steep it did find it harder. Unsure if it's just the car and how it is. Or my driving, or something going on! I did the same on return where there is a hill but a lot less steep, and it flew up it and kept on going. I used to drive an old 2.2 civic diesel which seemed to just get more power the steeper the hill! However it struggled alot off the line, in comparison the VRS flies on take off and in general feels faster all round but this one Hill make me wonder! Any advice? Thanks

No "single trip" data, on trip computer?
Thanks, I'll keep an eye on that but I'm sure it's been over 2 hours and still keeps totting up for the day. Is there anyway to change this 2 hour reset? Thanks
