  1. Hi guys. Apologies for all the questions, have just got a new Octavia and I'm a bit lost with the trip computer. I've always time driving data per trip.... Ie I turned my car on and saw how long I'd been driving since I started the ignition. All I see on the Octavia is "since start" which I'm guessing is start of the day? I make multiple trips and would like to see the info "per trip" don't tell me I have to reset the "since start" everytime I start the car? Or am I missing something? Thanks!
  2. Perfect thanks for that I will check them out. I've seen prices of some down here and they are v expensive. Get to Birmingham and above and the prices seem to drop. So I'm tempted to drive up! Still be with the fuel! But I'll check those out Thank you
  3. Hi all, Looking for an independent Skoda/VAG specialist, or someone that will be confident and able to do some retrofits, such as head unit upgrades, reverse cameras etc. Does anyone know anyone in southwest UK? Somerset / Dorset or surrounding areas? Thanks! Sorry if in the wrong forum.
  4. Hi all! I've finally bit the bullet and now own a 2014 vrs Estate. There's a fair few things I'd like to change / upgrade! First up, it's got an aging bolero (I think) unit. No nav, no Bluetooth etc. What's the best option for a simple swap? I've seen xtrons been quoted? Basically I'd like ability to add a camera reversing in future, car play android so can use Waze etc, stream etc. I'd prefer genuine but it seems that's not that easy. Looking for a plug and play really, I'm NOT DIY confident so either needs to literally be plug n play or reasonable for someone to install. I have many other things. So apologies for the posts in the coming weeks, but seems really helpful forum so far so thanks all!
  5. Hi guys, Had some great advice here after asking a few things so Thanks. I'm looking to buy a VRS Octavia, however from everything I've read the big selling point was that you get a decent quality car close / similar to the big names but with a nice saving making it very attractive to own a Skoda. I'm looking around and 14/15 Octavias (range wildly obviously dependent on spec miles etc) but let's say between 12-14k. Now... There's a few face-lift 17 plate A4 estates that are between a similar price bracket, so obviously down to a personal choice etc but I feel I'm looking at Skodas 3 years older than face-lift A4s for similar money, surely id be picking the slightly higher quality Audi? Or has the value of used Skoda slowly risen, while premium brands are dropping? Hope this makes sense, just wondering! Thanks
  6. Perfect thanks all. This is exactly what I was after and some really good heads up and things to look for. Just to take my time and check it all! Thanks again.
  7. Thanks guys. Sorry should have said, looking at a few really around 14/15 plate mileage varies from 60-90k on them. Manual diesels. Drove one yesterday and realised when back barely checked anything, hard to concentrate when a salesman sat yapping your ear! Although error messages came up so that's already got me worried!!
  8. Hi guys, Going to hopefully buy a VRS Estate very soon. Is there a "checklist" of essential things I could be on the lookout for? Ie waterpump changed? Cruise control working? Etc etc? Thanks!
  9. Yea I think this is the way I'd go. Although saying that I did a search on the forum and around, seems keyless theft does happen, and in all honesty (and don't let the insurance companies here my views) but I wonder.... If someone's going to steal my car via relay / keyless theft, I might as well let them have it that way, if they try and can't get a signal but really want that car, the next option is to come looking for the keys in my house! I think I'd rather they took it nice and quietly rather than risk lives for a lump of metal! Lol
  10. Funnily enough greenmachine, my wife's just said a very similar thing! But it's one of those things I guess. Take a risk or keep looking. I've just looked at another and it was full of faults scratches and other no nos haha
  11. Hopefully! Although I've actually just spoke to Skoda who within seconds without thinking gave an outright No. It cannot be disabled! The hunt goes on!
  12. I do understand the feature is probably pretty convenient! It's just not something I've really wanted since the rise in theft via that method! It's not that easy just finding one without it in the condition I'd like within budget etc etc! Maybe I'm fussy! Thanks for the reply though, I had a feeling it was going to be something you could disable!
  13. Hi all, Firstly I've posted this in another section sorry I didn't realise there's specific car forums, could someone move? Looking to buy a octavia 14/15 plate in the next couple weeks. A couple I've seen have keyless and I have some questions please! I'm sure keyless is awesome, but for me it scares me with the thefts, always has! So a couple things pretty please ... 1. Can you permanently disable keyless drive / entry etc? How does it work with starting car? 2. If possible and disabled, is the car still at a greater risk of theft due to it having keyless systems installed or are you at no more risk than a non keyless octavia? Thanks all, I Plan a fair few retrofits as I just can't find what I want so I'm hoping to be a bit more involved when I purchase!
