Perfect tyre pressure for dry & wet conditions
But the guide is for fully laden (5 people, full boot) or fully laden full economy! What about having some fun on your own, wanting the best grip?

Perfect tyre pressure for dry & wet conditions
Hi peeps I’ve recently swapped from Bridgestone 225/40/19 S005 to Michelin Sport Pilot 4S to see if I prefer it. I tried the 4S on my previous Superb 4x4 TSI 280, but preferred the stability of the Potenzer S001s although loved them on my wife’s Mini CooperS! I’m guessing the brand of the tyre doesn’t matter much with regards to the pressures as the pressure guide, in the fuel filter cap, is generic! The issue with the ‘guide’ is it really only covers a fully laden car & economy. My question is, what is the best tyre pressure for the front and the rear in dry conditions for grip and the best tyre pressures for wet conditions for a VRS estate that has one or maybe two occupants? I’m thinking it’s around 42 psi on the front and 44 psi on the rear approximately, but is it recommended to dramatically change them for wet conditions?

Remap / chiptuning available for the 2.0tsi VRS!
Yeah, it’s mainly in 4th, 5th & 6th, most noticeable in 6th. It’s mainly me being lazy on the motorway and not bothering to down shift. I only let it do it a couple of times thinking it might have been road surface or something but then realised so I don’t let it happen anymore. Thanks for your insight. 👍🏼

Remap / chiptuning available for the 2.0tsi VRS!
So, I remapped a couple of months ago with Phantom Tuning. How have you found the remap? I’m well impressed with the performance gain. Economy is a little better. 3rd & 4th are insane! I really wanted the gains for 3,4,5 & sixth gears. Bearing in mind it wheel spun in first & seconds anyway, I’m not interested in launching. (Mines manual) If I get the timing right, she’ll still wheel spin in 3rd!! The one thing I would like to know, is do you have a quiver at 2,000rpm ish? Especially in the higher gears if you floor it?

More vRS tyre musings!
Oh that’s really interesting! My previous Superb L&K 4x4 280 came with Potenza S001s and I tried Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and they really did not suit the car at all. The Potenza S001s felt so much more sure footed. I’ve now owned an Octavia VRS estate for three months now and really love the Potenza S005s but I’m wondering, after your post, if it’s worth trying the Michelins again! What’s the thoughts on this people?

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Morning all, Just joined today as I’m getting very frustrated with my 72 plate VRS manual estate. Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely loving driving the car but there are things that are worrying me. Having gone from three previous L&K Superb Estates which were absolutely brilliant, and everything worked perfectly apart from the last one, which was a DSG 4x4, loved the car but I hated the DSG! I’ve managed to go back to manual thank God, although even that is a slight problem where first, second and third are a little clunky/sticky with issues getting it into first sometimes and certainly worse than my wife’s 17 year old, 120,000 mile Mini Cooper S!! The dealership has checked it twice and don’t see a problem with it! 🤷🏻♂️ Then we come to the infotainment system, which it seems you’re all aware of, but it has shocked me that this has been going on since 2021 if not before! I cannot believe this is not sorted yet! I’ve had the usual random rebooting issue and the initial problem, where the keys aren’t recognised and can take up to a minute and a half to 2 minutes once you then manually select the profile! At which point you can’t do anything with the car as I can’t physically drive the car in my wife’s position and you can’t even put anything into satnav as it won’t allow you to input anything whilst driving!! So have to sit on the driveway for two or three minutes annoying the neighbours with your car running. I’ve also had an issue where only the middle third of the screen is showing and nothing can be done, even turning the car off and on doesn’t sort it out! I’ve also had an issue with the MODE button (yes, the actual physical button!) doesn’t work for the whole journey! An another issue, which I believe is well known, including Skoda, is the wireless charging! The two issues I have, is that on an hour and a half journey, it only charged the phone 10%! And in doing so, also makes the phone so hot that the phone shuts down due to temperature! The other issue is the fact that it constantly comes up with the black banners across the whole screen saying that it is charging the phone and then minutes or five minutes or half an hour later (it’s quite random) it comes up with another black banner that is even bigger asking me to empty the storage tray! This is seemingly a right hand cornering issue! One question I have - does anyone know which iPhones works okay in the wireless charging tray? I was told by the dealership that the iPhone 11, 12 and 13 weren’t really compatible! Having paid for the option I’m a little bit miffed that there wasn’t a disclaimer about the option. They didn’t mention the iPhone 14, so I was wondering if this works fine in the wireless charging tray without overheating? I’m interested in potentially getting the iPhone 14 Pro Max as this might stop it from sliding to the left and causing the black banner asking me to empty the tray!! Does anyone else have issues with the manual gearbox? I can’t wait for some replies!!
