  1. Further research suggests this is a factory made hole for the fold out type towbar supplied by skoda and made by Westfalia. This hole will be bigger than the one needed for a detachable swan-neck, so I will likely just have the fitter make a new hole with the supplied cutting template.
  2. I'm walking this same path now, I'm leaning towards simply asking the fitter to make a 'bespoke hole' for the towbar in question.
  3. I wanted to revive this thread as Im looking at adding a tow bar to the wife's VRS for mounting bikes I was looking here for a Skoda OEM Westfalia item and was confused by the statement "Note: for models without trailer preparation please order original spoiler from dealership" https://www.pfjones.co.uk/skoda-octavia-hatchback-nx3-2020-onwards-westfalia-detachable-towbar.html Ideally I want it to be invisible and not butcher the rear diffuser!
  4. I feel like the Adaptive cruise was setup for 6 lane highways in the US rather than a jam packed UK motorway / dual carriageway.
  5. Just a general one, If it's a manual with no kick down, it's kinder to your connecting rods to drop a gear rather than asking for heaps of torque at low rpm. Modern ECUs will protect the engine from det, but it's still the worst kind of load as the most ignition advance is occuring at about 2k rpm partial throttle.
  6. That could be due to the calibration asking for 100% wastegate duty when full throttle is demanded at lower RPM. This is basically to get the turbo going and move air as demanded by the go pedal. From tuning my own cars with Cobb access port, I could produce a stutter like you describe at under 2,5k rpm resulting from an over boost situation, the ECU responds by flicking the throttle body to half shut a few times in that split second to slow the huge wall of air coming in. I don't know if your map has boost by gear but you usually feel this happening in 3rd or above as it happens too quickly in 1st and 2nd to detect as well as often being boost limited in FWD maps.
  7. @TheUltraRunnerThanks mate. I forgot my old account details hence the long absence and new user name
  8. Looks good in the sun does race blue:
  9. @Carlston torque at the wheels is all that matters in the end e.g. I will stay in a lower gear for a bit longer than peak power to get the multiplying factor from the gearbox. It's why diesels feel fast but aren't in a drag race, torque at the crank is high but longer gears to compensate for low rpm offer less multiplication at the wheels.
  10. I had those on an S4 and they were very good, lasted a long time also.
  11. My wife's vrs came with bridgestones which I think are okay in the warm and dry, less so in the wet. My current fave are: https://www.asdatyres.co.uk/continental/sportcontact-7/225-40-19-93-y-xl-sportcontact-7 I'm running them on a BMW at the moment and they are amazing in all weather down to about 5 degrees C.
  12. Awesome GTI would be a local speed shop with the answers I'm sure.
  13. Looks like APR are in on the act too now https://www.goapr.com/blog/post/apr_2022_vw_gti_mk8_ecu_upgrades_are_here_us_ca_/ unclear if it's just North America however?
