  1. No, it was before I owned it. I bought from a broker who had it done.
  2. Oh what a pain. It's only been done not long ago! Thanks for the advice.
  3. Yes it's a petrol 1.2 I can't get under it to see, I'll try to get a look tomorrow. Approx how tight should it be? How many lbs torque? I assume if I need to change it, oil will pour out while I'm trying to get the new plug in. Hopefully it just needs tightening!
  4. My Mk3 had an oil change not long before I bought it. 2000 miles and 2 months later the oil is on the bottom third of the mark. Does the pic I took show a leaking oil drain plug? I'm not keen on doing it myself I don't have any axle stands. How much would a garage charge to rectify? Is it likely to just need a new plug/o-ring or whatever is on it? Thanks for the advice. For new oil should I just go with the owners manual (it says VW 504 00 not sure what that means) or something different?
  5. Thanks for the info. I will probably get the 16 in steel wheels. I was wondering how the foam piece and the spare wheel all fit into the space under the floor of my boot. I guess I need to remove the current foam.
  6. Hello Folks, I have a 2013 Octavia Mk 3 1.2 Tsi S. It came with a repair kit and no spare wheel. I'm looking to get a spare wheel and I have seen there is a foam piece that is needed. Does anyone have a picture of that foam piece in their car with the spare wheel? I'm trying to figure out how it all goes together. And in an effort to save money I wonder if that foam piece is actually needed or not. Attached is what my boot currently looks like underneath the carpet.
  7. Gaz, Thanks for all your help, it has helped a lot. I've decided to keep searching for wheels. 5mm greater offset doesn't sound like much but I'm wary and don't need to rush into anything. I don't want them rubbing on the inside against things that should not be rubbed!
  8. That's very helpful! Knowing what I'm looking at I can now see: 6.5J x 16H2ET46 I've found some Audi wheels on Facebook which match except the offset is ET50. I'm not sure if that's a problem. Attached pic is the wheels on offer.
  9. Do these numbers look relevant? I've never seen these before so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be reading there. Can anyone make sense and tell me what I need? Pics from the back of my rear wheel.
  10. So I need to remove my current wheels to see the inside and compare any wheels I am getting. Thanks
  11. https://www.scbvehicledismantlers.co.uk/single-breaker/?ref=10075851 I sent SCB a message about this car. I'm trying to find a single wheel for a spare and/or a full set for a set of winter wheels. My current car has 205/55 R16. What do I need to know to make sure anything I get will fit my car? Besides looking for Mk3 Octavias and 16 inch wheels, what else can i look for to help widen my search? My car came with a bottle of sealant and a pump. I don't like that setup. And being in Scotland I've a preference not to use summer tyres all year round. Thanks for your help.
  12. Well I contacted my local Skoda dealer - Westlands in Edinburgh. I gave them my cars reg and asked about the timing belt replacement schedule and I got this reply : We do not have any service records for your vehicle as we have never seen this car previously. Petrol vehicles do not require a replacement timing belt. Cool.
  13. Oh! Well thanks for that info. I certainly didn't know that. 😅😅
  14. Probably not important then! There were no suitcases left in car when I got it.
  15. Do I need an update for this please? And how do it do it? Device 5E0035820A Hardware 040 Software 0421 Media Codec N/A Thank you.
  16. Hello folks, I recently bought a 2013 Octavia Mk3, 1.2 Tsi S on a 63 plate with 111,000 miles. It doesn't have the full service history and is missing the past few years of info in the service manual. I have no idea if the timing belt has ever been replaced. I've attached a picture of it. Does that help in deciding if it's been replaced recently or not? Is it right that I can contact my local Skoda dealer and they will tell me what records they have for my car? I've heard now that the timing belt doesn't have a fixed schedule for replacement. Does anyone have anything official from Skoda about that? I have bought a warranty for a year and one of the conditions of it are that I must do the timing belt changes and other services according to the manufacturers schedule. Also the little key was in the glove box. Any idea what it is for? Thanks for the help!
  17. Are these still available? I'm getting ready for winter. I assume they will fit my Octavia Mk3 2013 1.2 Tsi hatchback. Currently I have 205/55R16 on my car. What's a wheel tree? Thanks.
  18. That's exactly how it was yesterday. £1 for 5 minutes. I thought I had won the lottery when the machine was still running from the previous customer but it ran out after I did the first wheel. Then yes, tap the debit card. I checked the tyres this morning and they are holding air so I guess it was just a long time since they have been checked and the pressure had slowly dropped. So I have time to save up for pump now. 😊
  19. Looking more into them, I like the ones you can preset a required pressure. Especially as these seem to take a few minutes to inflate from low pressure I'd like to be able to not have to keep watching it. Of course a double check of the pressure when it's done. I've highlighted a few on my Amazon and will place an order today.
  20. Thanks folks for the input. I'll have a look for the mentioned corded compressors. I would prefer one that can run off the car battery though. I have the pen type of gauge. The kind that pops out and pressure reads on the amount the 'stick' is pushed out. I did try to reset the TPMS but I'm not sure that my model has that feature as I could only find the tyre page that sets a speed limit for winter tyres. I'll have a look again for the function next time I'm playing around in the car. I remember a long time you could get a little token for air from the petrol station cashier. I guess those days are long gone! Back in Hong Kong use of the compressor is free (when the machine is working)
  21. I checked the tyre pressure on my newly acquired 2013 Octavia Mk3 TSi S this morning and they were all at about 25psi. So I drove to the nearby petrol station and had to pay £1 to top them up. I'll recheck the pressures later to make sure they are not leaking air. How do folks here go about maintaining correct tyre pressure here in the UK? I have the emergency compressor in place of a spare wheel. Can I use that to regularly top up the pressure? Or how about the little 12v plug-in Halfords compressor? Will that product do the job? I'm not at all happy to pay a quid for air every couple of weeks! I think a spare wheel (full size or space saver) will quickly makes its way onto my shopping list. Anyone have one for sale? Thanks for the advice.
  22. This car has been sourced by a broker for me. I've paid the deposit and they will check it, inspect it and service it if required and then deliver it too me next week. I have the reg number as well. How can I tell if it's a mk2 or mk3? Is it ok to post the reg number here publicly? How can I find out more info about the car and it's history? It's done 109,000 miles. I'm new to car ownership here in the UK. Thanks folks!
