Cost of cambelt change
£600 is a great price. Skoda UK told me (on phone) the recommended intervals changed on July 1st. July has been mentioned a few times in other subs too. In January 2023 someone else (in this sub) was told by a dealer, the belt is "for life". That person was lucky with a knowledgeable dealer. Dealers I spoke to had different mileage intervals, and different quotes, but all said five years. About a year ago dealers were quoting £500 to £600 to replace the belt. But seems they were finding it took much longer to do because this year that price went up drastically. That's the original topic of this sub. My point is at £600 you're dealer might not have known it was a longer job, or the interval was going, if that makes sense. They might have been annoyed after have doing a few of these for £600.

Cambelt change necessary after 5 years?
@DSLI asked about the cambelt only. There was no mention of any other item's service interval. @Skyl1n3I called them specifically on the back of your findings, and just wanted confirmation. I expected to be told X years or X miles, was not expecting "there isn't a recommendation"! For the moment at least I'm not going with a five year or 50k change (at £1000 flipping bucks). So thank you guys on here for your input to this, saved me quite a bit of money for now at least. I contacted them via their main number... https://www.skoda.co.uk/discover/contact-us I'm hoping to hear other people have contacted Skoda and find out what they are told? Skoda's website still says 5years/50k, but I assume it will be changed soonish. Thank you all, and @tootin particular , for all the info on here, saved me a lot of money in these expensive days. Top stuff everyone

Cost of cambelt change
I called Skoda....the helpful customer service desk sent me email below (told me the recommended intervals were removed July 1st 2023), which says both time and mileage based intervals are no longer given. The website still says 5 years. Wow.... So it's not even 10, 15 years, or 200k miles.... What about the people who spent £1k on this....or all those who spent anything on this? If I had the money I would have done it. Relieved but not happy tbh, or am I missing something.

Cost of cambelt change
The dealers I spoke to said the cost is subsidised (from £1200), could be bull of course. UK isn't dust rich, most of Europe isn't dust rich. I think we need a which? campaign, or money saving expert guy on this! It stinks like the emissions hoohaa again. I also want to "protect" my warranty but this is so damn expensive....would be really nice to have proper clarity.

Cost of cambelt change
I had quotes in Feb of £725 and £910 to get cambelt changed on my 1.5tsi ACT, from two Skoda dealers in midlands. An indy garage quoted £700 to £750 (based on 7 to 7.5hrs)..... I delayed because it wasn't five years old till march, only 45,000 done + I couldn't afford it. The £725 dealership is now (July) quoting £1090, but the £910 dealer kept their price. I probably wouldn't have bought the car if I'd known this... Was baulking at £449 (what I thought it cost when buying). They did say the water pump doesn't need changing on petrols....they didn't say it was other end of car!!
