  1. It's funny as alot of people say the skoda is the budget vag. I'm sure the polo has alot more sound deadening and effort put into nvh but so far the fabia is a fine little car.
  2. But it gets the wife's approval it's hopefully going to be cheap to run and plenty of parts to get it how I want. I definitely want to change the steering wheel to a leather one including the gear knob and handbrake lever as they feel really cheap. I had Leon fr diesel a few years ago and that was a torque monster I had it mapped and was a nightmare in the wet. But it started to develop lots of faults, the central locking started playing up and the wiring behind the dash failed which cost me £600 to fix as I thought it was an imobiliser fault. So after that it had to go so this is my first foray back into the vag world since.
  3. A nice install I just brought mine up in the corner it's hidden behind my phone holder. Also I installed my dashcam but I can't hide it behind the rear view mirror in this car as its so tiny lol.
  4. Oh very nice I thought they were all red I haven't see many vrs interiors for sale I must be confusing the monte carlo ones. Ahh OK I'll give those settings a try.
  5. I have already fitted the auto light switch can't say I'm massively impressed with it but it does work, Sensitivity seems to be quite low. Yes led interior light would be a big help the standard one it's quite dim. Yes the standard seats are quite flat but the car is just a work mule on mainly A roads so not much chance of having fun lol. Still not a fan of the red tho I'd have the mk1 vrs seats but I doubt they fit and apparently the white is a pain to keep clean.
  6. Ahh that's a shame as they do look similar. Not a fan of the red on the monte carlo or vrs seats. So looks like I'll be keeping the current ones.
  7. I still have a slight running issue a lumpy idle and rpm drops @ 3000 rpm. So if that doesn't cost too much I may be getting a new interior seen a nice one from a polo gt. A new steering wheel with multifunction, a new gear knob, and a new handbrake. The current ones just feel nasty.
  8. So I swapped the ecm pin to 69 and now it's all working. A massive thanks to all that helped it's been a journey. I can see why some say they wouldn't do another.
  9. Ahh right that might be why then I'll swap that over thank you so much
  10. The weird thing is when checking on vcds the cruise control stalk functions properly except that it thinks cancel is active until I move the switch to cancel then it's OK.
  11. Oh that would be great thanks the vin is TMBFH25J8D3136 18 5.
  12. Yes sorry I did notice that but there is only blue white and blue yellow going to the bcm.
  13. Do you mean the ecm? I out it in pin 24 which I believe is the correct one for a 1.2 htp.
  14. OK so I checked the pins on the bcm and sadly I did have them in the right places. Still getting an error I'm really not sure what's wrong. Maybe a faulty stalk?
  15. OK so I messaged tech1e and with his help I have found the issue. The instructions that came with the kit are very poorly written. The pins that go into the bcm are not in order. I'll get out tomorrow and swap the pins over and hopefully that will be it.
  16. Right I have checked all the pins and they are placed as per the instructions. And still no joy. Any ideas anyone? I purchased a new aerial adapter and now the radio reception is perfect. I managed to find a switched live on the fuse panel under the steering wheel. Top right hand I found that the first 3 are all switched live so just used a piggy back mini blade fuse holder and used that for a dashcam hardwire kit and phone charger. Still getting a p0171 code which it had when I got it. Has a lumpy idle and drops 200-500 rpm when holding it at 3000 rpm. Been told its likely an air leak from somewhere but I just can't find it so I have booked it in for a proper mechanic to have a look.
  17. Had some time to carry on with the cruise control retrofit. So added the pin missing from the loom I needed, Big shout out to Eddie for finding the right pin for me. This I added to the ecm on pin 24 which was in the manual yes I did rtfm. But sadly it's not working I'm getting a position inplausable code from the stalks I'm guessing i messed up the pins on the stalks so I'll have to check those. When checking the inputs from the stalks it shows when on that it's constantly being cancelled has anyone experienced that? On the stereo install, It's all in and wired up I grabbed the ignition live and illumination from the light switch I might change this later so the ignition live runs a relay so I can add some more bits in maybe an amp and the dashcam hardwire kit too. However the radio reception is awful, I might need a different aerial adapter as I only got a cheap kit with the cables adapter and facia. Has anyone had a similar issue with adapting the aerial?
  18. Oh very nice the right one looks like an elegance wheel.
  19. Oh I see that would be great I have seen a few of those wheels and I thought they were all for the mk3
  20. Yes I did notice that I wonder why they decided to only put buttons on the left I know the trip is on the stalk but still strange.
  21. I don't have the maxidot display so I don't think the right hand buttons would work on my car anyway. I think I will just get a non mfsw and just have a leather one there are a few on the bay for £40. The steering wheel adapter is about £60 for aftermarket stereos too.
  22. I would also be interested if the mk3 mfsw would work in a mk2. I did read somewhere that they don't work as they are totally different. I was surprised thay the fabia doesn't have steering wheel controls but I guess it's money saving.
  23. Yep have checked its the larger connector. I'm just waiting on a pin fro the ecm to arrive as the kit I got had been fitted before and they removed the pin I need.
  24. I think I have managed to program the cruise control on vcds using the included pic. I think the aftermarket would sound alot better than the oem stereo well they normally do. I'm not worried about the instrument cluster as I have the basic one and it doesn't show it anyway. The facia and adapter harness were £25 from the bay. Ahh OK ill get the bluetooth one thanks.
  25. Oh right that would make the programming pretty straight forward. I did read that you can use a login code 11463 I believe but I think that's for earlier cars. I have a pioneer single din I brought years ago. I only use the bluetooth for calls and listening to music from my phone occasionally. I'm really not bothered about inbuilt sat navs as I have found the get out dated way too fast to be relied upon. I just use my phone in a holder and Google maps. I had a look they do a switch without the bluetooth for about £5 less which they said can be programmed manually which I'm sure will be alot of fun. I do miss the auto lights the wife's car has all the toys but I can't justify the expense on the work car well she won't let me justify the expense lol.
