  1. This is how the foam insert looks like a week after installing the struts. I'll probably do some cutting to reduce the tension on the strut and the deformation on the sides of the insert.
  2. Hey Lico, All my interior lights are LED by default (facelift thing maybe?). So was the one in the boot, I just replaced it with a more powerful one.
  3. That turned out to be the case. No removal or cutting needed. Thanks for the replies, everyone!
  4. So I guess it won't be the brightest idea to remove them then.
  5. Hey, Does anyone know what do these foam inserts do? I'm planning on installing bonnet dampers but to do that, I'll either have to cut channels for the damper to sit in or completely remove them. There is one on each side of the engine compartment.
  6. I replaced the boot LED of my Karoq and decided to share the pictures here in case someone is considering this change and is wondering if it’s worth it. In my opinion – it is. The pictures were taken in a semi-lit garage but you can still see the difference; I assume that it will be much more drastic in pitch-black surroundings. Not sure if I’m allowed to share where I bought it from, but it was not AliExpress. The 'installation' takes literally seconds; I just had to remove the old LED with a prying tool, unplug the cable, plug it into the new module, and put it back in. PS. The thing in bubble wrap are bonnet dampers, which is the next thing I plan on installing on the car. Not sure if I'm using the proper term, pardon my broken English Here are the pictures (pardon the mess in the boot): Before: After:
  7. Hey neighbor! Spot on, that's probably the simplest route. In my old ride, a Passat B8, I took the software-deactivation route (not entirely sure if it tweaked the starter data or something else, the shop handled it). Couple of downsides with this route – you're stuck with a dashboard icon always shouting that Start/Stop isn't playing nice, and there's a chance (still a bit unsure about that one) it might mess with your warranty. That's why this time around, I went for the hardware fix.
  8. Solid advice. In my case, the car stays in a fairly warm garage, so the cold isn't much of a bother. Still, good to keep in mind.
  9. What does this setting change? My lights switch is always on Auto, so they kick in automatically when it's dark, and during daylight, it's just the DRL. I've got matrix lights, but I don't reckon that should make a difference.
  10. Hey, thanks for circling back! I gave it another shot yesterday, but still no luck. I did try pushing the cable from behind, but no dice. I suppose I'll have to summon some courage and be a tad less gentle next time
  11. Thanks for getting back! Gave the Carista a go yesterday to see what's available for my car. Nothing super exciting, so no changes for now. Still got a few interesting options to dig into. Planning to check with the local dealer about the warranty implications for these tweaks. I do have that throttle option available, but I'm a bit in the dark about what it actually does. It's on my list of options to read up on a bit more.
  12. Hi there, I was wondering if tweaking settings with an OBD2 adapter could potentially affect the car's warranty. I also own a Carista adapter, but I'm still hesitant about using it because of this concern.
  13. Hey, @MrSecretPotato, Thanks for the guide! I am having trouble removing the buttons module in Step 2. The frame seems to be bending, but the clips at the bottom are not popping out, and the module is not budging at all. Pulling the module out does not seem to be doing anything either; the module still does not move. The only thing I was able to achieve was popping one of the unused buttons out a bit. Fortunately, it went back in when pressed. I am worried about bending the frame too much. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Should I continue to bend the frame with the pry tool until I hear a click and see the clips unlock? Any advice would be appreciated!
