  1. 100%! Car came with 18in allows, and the previous owner bough 16in black steel wheels for mounting winter tyres. During summer, the wheels looks better with the 18in wheel but the ride is harsher, noisier and even the acceleration is worse. The improvement with the smaller wheels is quite stark. As I am not aggressively cornering or driving, I prefer how the 16in wheels feel, both while driving and riding, given the comfort is that much better. I can see how bigger wheels are fashionable and help sell the cars, but engineering-wise they seem like a horrible choice for the everyday driver. Most definitely for the average superb driver. Also, I have tried quieter tyres over the years, and it may help a bit. But the wheel size has much more impact on comfort than the tyre brand/quality. For me, it is quite practical to have two sets of rims for winter-summer, thus I won't throw away the 18in. However, if I were to buy another car, or for whatever reasons I had to buy new rims, I would definitely go for the smallest wheel available.
  2. Interesting idea, thank you. On the one hand, the car has been winter driving on heavily salted roads for 10 years. So maybe some damage is already there. But this would probably prevent from it getting worse. I will look into it. I wonder how much it is to get this treatment done, and where.
  3. I just joined the forum, posted a picture of my 2013 Superb II 2.0 TDI L&K being all practical, and now I am asking my first question. Please point me in the right direction if this has already been discussed. What pre-emptive maintenance ideas you have, in order to drive reliaby e and reach 20 years and half million kms? The plan is to own and run the car for another decade, and go from 245k km to 500k km. And form that long term angle, I am happy doing any work that will help the car get there. I already do the regular maintenance. Just recently did all the filters, fluids, and in the last couple of years did timing belt and DSG. And I change my battery every 4/5 years ahead of the winter. So basically, I am following the basic book of maintenance. But based on members' experience, what is worth doing to prevent issues or prolong useful life? Or to anticipate any breakdown? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi! New to the forum. Since 2018, I am the happy owner of a Superb II 2013 2.0 TDI L&K, DSG. It currently has 250k km, and my goal is to keep it going for as long as possible. The interior and mechanically, it feels as solid as the first day. Aesthetically, it has a number of battle scars, and I don't plan to do anything about it. The reason I love the car is that it is incredibly practical, economical, and that I choose to not worry much about it. If if gets another scratch, I just shrug and move on. So that's why I post the picture below: In its most practical form, the Superb after carrying four people and their paddleboard gear and picnic stuff:
  5. Hello! I just joined. I am livinig in EU, I am the happy owner, since 5 years ago, of a 2013 Superb II 2.0 TDI L&K. Mainly interested in how to make it last forever, the car is now at 250k km, how to reduce the noise inside, and to learn a bit about DIY. Below is the car, being what it does best: practical, carrying four in comfort to our paddleboard destination.
