  1. Ok so fitting the pistons is really simple take off the covers simply pull them off. Feed the two electrical cables and Disconnect. Unclip the pistons top and bottom. Fit new pistons a half hour job. The pistons are larger but fit perfectly.
  2. 2014 2ltr octavia 3 EGR Sorry but it's a big job with quite a few components needing to be removed from the engin to gain access. Also you need to tackle it from underneath. It's not really a DIY job you need to be a competent mechanic. Time a day first time. My local gararge of 40years would prefer not to do the job......
  3. So my new electric boot struts for my Octavia 2013 arrived today so I will fit them tomorrow. WARNING WHEN I removed the old ram I disconnected the battery and unclipped the power connection to the left hand piston / ram I then unclipped the top of the piston. As I undid the top clip it exploded firing the top of the piston and the spring 40 feet down the drive onto the road. Fortunately it did not take my eye out which it very easily could have. When I terreved the ram I found the threaded joint between top and bottom of the ram had the screw tread stripped bare.

  5. Has anybody replaced a boot strut using this mechanism? 2PCS Electric Tailgate Gas Strut 5E9827852F 5E9827851F Fit Skoda Octavia III from Car Light Bulb. How easy were they to fit? thank you.
  6. Ok so I had a look at the on line and found one Utube video and the chap who made it is correct and it really helped me. But it may be me but it was not clear what to cut off and where the tang is. Either side of the Radiator are two locating tangs. They are towards the top of the radiator about 6ins down in old money. 1. The Tangs are just on the top of the fitting none at the bottom. So one tang either side at the top need cutting off. 2. Use an old dinner knife. 3 Heat the knife with a blow torch and slide down the fitting three cuts for me, the tang is about an inch wide. I did sharpen the tip of the knife and to be honest it didn't really help. 4 The Tangs you cut off are apart of the radiator so are part of your new radiator. So no dammage is done. 5 Having cut both sides the radiator flips forward and pulls out. Ps you Need to unscrew the air filter box and lift it up then pull the washer bottle top up and to one side. Then remove the fan.
