  1. Finally done this today. Got the plugs supposedly discounted from GSF used NGK platinum(then the day I picked them up I could have saved another £3.50 had I ordered they day).
  2. Looking at GSF and Euro's their listing are allover the place. Ended up just going to Halfords and getting the Pagid ones, they were around 31.50 and I used a £5 off over £20 spend I had. Went relatively smoothly. I also bought a Hilka caliper rewind tool from Screwfix.
  3. Hi. I think I've researched this a while ago but the search function is allover for me at the moment. I need some rear pads in my 2020 petrol vRS estate. How do I determine which ones I need without taking the old ones out as there appears to be a choice on GSF / Eurocarparts?
  4. At 60k and 5 and a half years old I don't think mines has had plugs yet (had it two years). Does anyone have recommendations on plugs (part numbers etc) and what the standard plugs fitted by Skoda are? I fitted some on my last car which was a Leon Cupra 290 with the EA888 and they were NGK Platinum I believe. From memory they were the same part number as the original Seat/VW ones but I can't fully remember. Can I do the same here in terms of getting the right NGK ones from say Eurocarparts and not the OEM branded ones, but effectively the same plugs?
  5. Thanks, that's ideal.
  6. Does anyone know if these rewinds kits like the ebay one or the Halfords one will be OK on a 2020 vRS 245 estate?
  7. Booked it into Skoda Hayselden Doncaster after these posts and it went in around 3rd December. Had to agree to an inspection which would cost £130 ish if it wasn't something covered under warranty. They had a look and confirmed it was what I said. It all got approved via Skoda/VW approved used warranty and I was waiting for a phone call on Friday 5th to say it was done and instead I had an earlier phone call telling me they were unable to carry out any work as they had gone into administration 🫤 Had a bit of to and fro-ing with Skoda warranty as Hayselden had told me everything had been approved and that I just had to take it to another Skoda dealer, but it turned out Hayselden had closed down the repair as they couldn't carry it out having stopped trading and it would have to be restarted at a different garage anyway. Got advised to speak to Skoda Uk Customer Care, whom I spoke to and after the weekend told me what I was already aware of and that I'd have to find another dealer. Nearest dealer was now Rainworth at Sheffield, so I had to book it in for a similar (but potentially more expensive) inspection last Friday (12th). All went through again and was meant to be getting done Monday, then Tuesday but a gasket went AWOL to another dealer apparently and its been done today and I've just picked it up.
  8. I've ordered one anyway for that price.
  9. Where would it dump coolant though? I'm going to get underneath the car this weekend but there's white stains from coolant on all the pipes beneath and around the waterpump itself.
  10. It's very generic stuff with a load of bluster really. Wording is something like "almost all mechanical and electical components, subject to the conditions detailed later". Then there's nothing specific or even loosely that would lead me to think it's not covered.
  11. Hi all. I bought myvRS estate on a 20 plate February 24 with 42k on from a main dealer and as such got 2 years (according to paperwork) approved used warranty. For a while now I've been topping it up with coolant- every two months, then every six weeks, then every month and then it appears to have lost 500ml within a few days now. It barely does any miles, but does sit in town traffic a bit. Just had a look at it at the wife's work and there's coolant marks on the top of the lower hose beneath the water pump / thermostat and also rustly/coolant looking marks around the housing itself. Unfortunately I am aware of these failing having had a Leon Cupra 290 before this where I paid around £580 to have one replaced at a local garage I've used in the past around 2021. So how does the warranty work and an I likely to have a fight in my hands to get then to do it, will they even dispute its covered under warranty?
  12. Yeah I think I'd read something along those lines and I don't trust dealer guidelines that much anyway. Chances are I may not have it at 80k, but I think I'd prefer to get it done much before then for piece of mind.
  13. Hi all. I have a 2020 mk3 245 Octavia estate on 57000 miles, bought early 2024 on 42k, 7 speed DSG. I've searched occasionally since buying on here looking at various things, but not posted much, including DSG service and think I'm now just confusing myself 😀 Previously I had a Leon Cupra 290 with a six speed DSG box and I had that DSG box serviced at a local independent not long after I got it around 38k ish (4 years old) and then around 3 years later around 60k miles. Think it was due every 40k or 4 years - something like that. I've seen various suggestions on here that my Octavia box may be scheduled for service at 80k, then some suggestions it needs doing earlier than that. How do I tell what box I have to determine when it should be serviced?
  14. Thanks. At least that makes a bit more sense 😀
