DSG service / gearbox type

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have a 2020 mk3 245 Octavia estate on 57000 miles, bought early 2024 on 42k, 7 speed DSG. I've searched occasionally since buying on here looking at various things, but not posted much, including DSG service and think I'm now just confusing myself 😀

Previously I had a Leon Cupra 290 with a six speed DSG box and I had that DSG box serviced at a local independent not long after I got it around 38k ish (4 years old) and then around 3 years later around 60k miles. Think it was due every 40k or 4 years - something like that.

I've seen various suggestions on here that my Octavia box may be scheduled for service at 80k, then some suggestions it needs doing earlier than that.

How do I tell what box I have to determine when it should be serviced?

Officially, the DQ381 box is meant to be serviced at 80,000 miles, but for the sake of reliability, getting it serviced at between 40,000 and 50,000 miles is good practice (and gives your gearbox a better chance of surviving).

Yeah I think I'd read something along those lines and I don't trust dealer guidelines that much anyway. Chances are I may not have it at 80k, but I think I'd prefer to get it done much before then for piece of mind.
