Front wing removal
I have tried to take the front left wing off, to deal with a small dent. I was able to remove both sections of the wheel arch liners, and all the 10mm bolts, along with the foam pad next to the door mounting points. My problem is with way it attaches to the bracket under the headlamp. I just wanted to check if I'm correct in assuming that it is necessary to detach the bumper, to the allow the studs in then wing to lift up and out of the mounting bracket Thanks.

Failing door latch?
I have the same problem. (Also in Scotland). I can unlock the doors with the remote, but when I try to open the driver's door, it feels like the door is still locked. It's caused by water inside the lock mechanism freezing, and not properly releasing. I had it on my previous Octavia. The only real cure is to take the door panel off, to get access to the mechanism, dry it out, and then spray it generously with lithium grease. The trick is to prevent water from settling in the mechanism again, so it won't freeze. (WD40 doesn't last) That'll be a job for the summer. Freezing door seals can be cured by smearing them with silicone grease.

Spilt Milk
Has this happen to me once. Even if you can get the carpets dry the bacteria from the milk will still smell. I just kept soaking the carpet disinfectant, let it dry and then soak it again. Keep repeating the process until the smell goes away. Remember that you need to get the disinfectant THROUGH the carpet to where the milk got to, and it can take a couple of weeks, depending on drying times.

12V socket constant live
I looked into this, because I wanted a switched supply for my sat-nav and phone charger, and I hate wires hanging everywhere. There is no simple solution to convert the existing sockets that I could find. I ended up installing a separate socket, wiring it using a piggy back fuse directly into the fuse box behind the glove box. I mounted it inside the dash top cubby, so completely hidden. It's a fair amount of work - you have to remove the glove box and the dash top cubby to run the cabling. I thought it was worth it since I plan on keeping the car long term.
