Transfer case/shaft leak
Hey bud... Haven't looked into Sweden or Norway just yet, wouldn't know where to start... Shipping will not bother me to much. Obtaining the part to get her on the road is more important. Shipping is a necessity and cannot be avoided so it does not play too much of a deciding factor, when the quality of the part itself is more important. Thanks G

front differential oil change
You're right the transfer box has its own oil supply and doesn't share any oil with the gearbox or front differential. It also has its own oil specification detailed in parts manuals as part number G052145S2. https://www.lllparts.co.uk/product/G052145S2/axle-oil-br-filling-quantity

Transfer case/shaft leak
This is good advice. There are no new transfer boxes available within the UK according to TPS and no known date when they shall be obtaining any. Also the current second hand market for one is not great for availability. The price varies from £300 to £1,200...Need to check why the x2 over £1,000 are that price. Average is about £600 now from my frantic search to obtain one. I do have a contact that can source completely refurbished ones for £1,200 that have been pulled apart bearings, seals and oil replaced. However I have a strong suspicion this is outside of UK. As specialists are all commenting that finding spare parts to refurbish my current transfer box is both incredibly hard with regards to the supply chain for parts and cost effectiveness of said repair. This is one repair to get on top of, if you suspect there is a problem.

Transfer case/shaft leak
I know the reply is late...But after having the differential oil changed at an independent garage in October 2024. Mine started making a slight drone noise between 10 and 14mph as soon as i left the workshop i put it down to tyre noise!! It sounded like it was coming from the rear, the tyres were unevenly worn too...I did initially chase it and had a lead in time to get it back in to be looked at after 2½ weeks time from leaving the workshop. Life got in the way and I never took it back with a view to investigating in April 2025 when she was on the ramps and having an underbody check and video, that they do for cash for me on the side, during my DIY service periods. She never made it to April...in February 2025 she made a lot of noise on a very short trip about 10 miles that sound like a bag of bolts suddenly at mileage 9.5...limped to place where I was going and went to reverse into a space and reverse gear failed, nothing would work and I blocked the road, wouldn't even move in neutral. Recovered home and then recovered to that independent garage later the following week. Initially they said the rear differential had failed...I argued about this as I'd had all oils changed (lifetime rear diff oil...no such thing in my head, haldex oil, DSG oil and lifetime front differential oil) at the same time, as I was having the main engine rear oil seal replaced as that was leaking! I then said I want a second opinion from the actual owner of the garage and all the oils analysed as even though the correct oil had been purchased and supplied i had visions of them putting Haldex oil in there or draining the wrong part and had left it dry. They did that and I paid for analysis, still waiting for them results to come back. I wasnt happy to just replace a £7k rear differential new before labour charges and also they were hard to obtain even if I wanted too. Noone wanted to repair the parts on them (diff specialists) as they couldn't source the parts from TPS or other VAG sources and they weren't cost effective for the parts they could. After listening to me requesting a second opinion the owner and the no.2 man there, went out together to try and replicate the fault and they did numerous times and then said it was coming from the front! From here it was determined the front transfer box had failed i instructed them to open it up, which they did and found that it had started destroying itself...See video link below. https://vv2u.co/jPKSwk It hadn't grenaded like they do on the A3 and S3 and blew a hole in the casing but it was still damaged and not working anymore. They've blamed the draining of the old oil had dislodge something and possibly caused a bearing or a tooth to hit on another bit of metal and destroy itself. Im now looking for a second hand part as we speak and for someone to consider repairing this one at a price for me. By the way I didn't have the leak...just the noise, oil was still in there. G

Does anyone know the Brake Disc Runout Tolerance on a Mk2 Superb?
Hey All, Whilst my wheels are in for refurbishment does anyone know if Skoda defines a brake disc runout tolerance. I've had them in workshop manuals of all my other 4x4 from other manufacturers but just cannot find the specifications for runout anywhere. I'm running a CFGB engine code and it's a Combi (Estate) Superb 125kW (170bhp) 2.0 TDI CR DSG L&K Mk2 FL (3T) MY 2014. Hoping someone may know. I'll measure them for now and see if they're the same at least. Thanks G

SKODA SUPERB MK2 HEAD UNIT
@pab567 Hey bruv thanks for replying she's still at respray shop and not due back for another 3/4 days as waiting on wheels being fully refurbished. I'm then back at work and then away for my 4 off and then I'm back at work and then she goes away to have the front end dropped out for an engine seal to be replaced that has failed... When she's back in middle of October can I send a few photos then, as I'll have time to pull her apart and answer any other queries that may help you help me. Thank you again for replying so quickly and I will be back in contact Pab! Thanks G

Change oil in rear differential
Waiting for 2 companies to come back about bolt kits being supplied with the LUK Flywheel or whether I have to procure them separately. I'm also looking for bits to do with trims etc as the car has just been resprayed and some 10 year fixtures did not survive removal during preparation works and there's some I want to replace for aesthetic reasons... SKODA SUPERB MK2 HEAD UNIT
Good Afternoon @pab567 Can I ask a quick question regarding the factory Head Unit like Tom? I'm currently in the circle of death with mine and I believe it was faulty from day of purchase. However, I never chased it up with the sales guys as they struggled sourcing a £6/part for 8 weeks, I thought this would be way above their capabilities. All im getting is black screen, skoda symbol, black screen for a period and then repeated. I've tried every YouTube and forum comment on how to reset it to no avail, nothing works. I took it to an independent Skoda specialist for other works and asked them to check the OBD for faults and they couldn't resolve it either! They wanted me to go to another ICE Specialist but they're 90 minutes away from where I live and I need to find time to go and visit them around other more important tasks. So I haven't visited them yet! Currently a DMR110 Makita Site Radio is riding along on the centre rear seat (seat belt secured) providing the tunes 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ As I cannot reset it, do I presume it's a hardware component issue and write it off for good. Just for reference the Superb is a Combi 125kW (170bhp) 2.0 TDI CR DSG L&K Mk2 FL (3T) MY 2014. Thanks Dan

Hey @rbhelle How you doing! Just wondering about this link below is it worth the £13.20 One Day access for checking all my parts schedule is correct, as you said it does the check by VIN, which I have! Before I confirm the basket and commit to the order 🤔🤔🤔😟😟😟 Thanks G

Adjust as required* autocomplete on phone put an "and" and i dont proof read...my fault! You can be cynical and that is completely your choice and I won't knock you for that at all, I can be the same in the civils game. However on this one I'll play the logical card on this one and use my head and not my feelings/attitude. Better to be professional than sorry on this one for me personally. And they've at least had the professionalism that they want it checked straight after their finished and said they didn't have the gear to quality control. To my mind they had the honesty and integrity to say that openly as well! Rather than being an all the gear/no idea big mouth spouting company/person that says they can do it with their eyes closed...Those that boast like that always entertain me, as they could make a fortune selling their services and putting these automated control mechanisms and their manufacturers out of business overnight, even imparting their wisdom 🤣🤣🤣 These guys are good and work on a lot of our local/regional racing/rally teams and don't mess about and I never have been by them when I've had some issues with 4x4 previously. Neither have they on my friends track day cars and they even work with 2 of my friend's racing BMWs when they need alignment checks after nudge/falling off the track etc...🤣🤣🤣 They genuinely know their stuff and don't charge a rip off price to do it and have 2 bays permanently set up for 4 wheel hunter alignment with the demand they get run through in our area...That says a lot that a lot of people value their opinion and the great reputation that they have and strive to maintain. I'd say the indy garage is doing belt and braces for their own reputation/quality control and I'd never knock anyone for it and they're prepared to pay for that check at my choice of location...why should I knock them for that??? That seems very short sighted to not do your due diligence professionally? You may be highly skilled to not need a Hunter rig...being a civil engineering surveyor I could literally use a water level to control a TBM at a heading but why would I chose to use tools that risk inaccuracy and introduce errors when I could use a gyroscopic/laser line control system instead to make the job more easier/accurate/efficient and control quality, much like the Hunter system will do in this case 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ I could run it another hour down the road to my friend's workshop to cross check the indy's work but by then 2 hours travelling time (round trip) taking over his bay for that time in case there was problems that needed doing there and then and his help, which I'd feel obliged to recompense him for, me actual doing the check itself, just wouldn't be productive in terms of my time and my own hourly rates...That would be extremely stupid to let my arrogance get out of control and do that! When I can ride 20 minutes down the road get the check done and then most probably drive out with zero issues or maybe a very slight tweak. As I doubt the car is perfectly aligned with the pot holes round here and I haven't had the 4 wheel alignment checked for at least 14 months, since a very large pothole caused a blowout on the way back from work at 0200.
