Front Brake Disc Upgrade Advice — 2003 1.8T AUM (Combi 1U5)
Hi Everyone, I’m planning to upgrade the front brake setup on my 2003 1.8T AUM to bigger discs — possibly the 312mm setup. Currently, the car probably has 280 or 288, will check it. Can I keep my existing calipers, or do I need to replace them (or just the carriers) to fit the 312mm discs? Also, any recommendations for good quality discs and pads to go with the upgrade would be great. Thanks in advance!

Skoda Octavia 2003 AUM 1.8T – Strong vacuum at oil cap after hose & hockey puck work
Hi everyone, I have a 2003 Skoda Octavia 1.8T (AUM, 150 hp). I recently replaced all the lower crankcase breather hoses (including the Y-pieces with restrictors) and cleaned the “hockey puck” breather valve. After doing this, I noticed a strong vacuum when removing the oil filler cap at idle. Thinking the hockey puck might be faulty, I replaced it with a new Vaico unit — but the strong suction is still there. Some details: PCV valve (06A 129 101 A) is still the original, but I cleaned it. Both my original and new hockey puck allow air to pass both ways when tested off the car. Idle is smooth, no fault codes, no oil leaks. Questions: Is noticeable suction at the oil cap normal for the AUM once the crankcase ventilation system is fully sealed and clean? Does anyone have the correct hose/PCV routing diagram for this engine so I can confirm everything is connected correctly? Thanks in advance for any help.

Turbo Rebuild
Hi guys, I’ve got a 2003 Skoda Octavia MK1 with the 1.8T AUM engine (150hp), currently sitting at around 260,000 km. I’m wondering when it’s a good time to rebuild the turbo. I haven’t noticed any whining noises or weird sounds, and I haven’t checked for shaft play yet. Just curious if it’s better to do a rebuild preventively or wait until there are clear signs of failure. Also: Is the stock turbo a K03 or K03s on this engine? Any good guides or DIY walkthroughs you’d recommend for rebuilding? Would appreciate any advice or input from those who’ve done it before. Thanks in advance! Cheers,

Oil leak - Octavia 1.8T AUM
Hi guys, It's me again, couple months ago I've replaced the rocket cover gaskets on top as was having oil in the spark plugs. However I've noticed still I have to put some oil in the car for example 100-150ml per 500-600km. I've inspected the spark plugs and top of the engine no oil leak. But on the bottom side will have to remove the plasic cover under the engine, but on the right side it seems to me like the leak. Any suggestions on this? I drive with 5w40 oil, but push it from time to time when accelerating Also no smoke while driving or on starting, what I have noticed is that when the car is warm, sometimes it struggles to start from the first or second try (it has an lpg system) but when hold cranking it longer it start Thanks in advance!

Dcc springs
I'd remove front and rear wheels and use tape measure of current size of the discs. For my case on 1.8t is 288mm front and 230 rear

Octavia MK1 2003 1.8T AUM - Fuse blown
So today I layed under the car and checked the cables for the lambda sensor, covered the good ones with insulation tape and the rest two as well separately. The best solution might be to cut off the cable and re-solder it, but anyway it fixed my problem. Despite the fact that it was a little struggle, connecting disconnecting I also cleaned some cable plugs with contact cleaner in the meantime. So I wanna thank you guys for your help appreciate it @Breezy_Pete @Crasher 🙏 🙂

Ok, will check it thanks, Do you have some schema to find where they're connect to unplug them for example could be the one on top of the engine not under the car

Octavia MK1 2003 1.8T AUM - Fuse blown

Octavia MK1 2003 1.8T AUM - Fuse blown
Ok, tried dissconnecting the charcoal filter purge valve and same story Need to check MAF sensor or most likely this secondary air inlet valve (by lambda sensor heaters I don't know never got a sign for it)

Octavia MK1 2003 1.8T AUM - Fuse blown
Today with a friend we opened the seconday air relay and tested it looked okay in terms of measurement. But we also saw some dark spots on the relay box like dust left and he suspected this relay. So we removed it and I drove the car for about 30 minutes and the fuse had not blown, guess it could be that one or else I need to test with the relay inserted to be sure? On the VCDS only relay j299 was shown as not working and on the dashboard this sign for ASR was shown. I'm planning on purchasing a new relay and see if the problem will be resolved. Other than that car is running normally even I pushed it a little bit more and no check engine

Octavia MK1 2003 1.8T AUM - Fuse blown
Oh, in that case I'll have to measure those things. When I first start the car while fuse not blown yet, I hear the auxiliary heater for a minute and then stops. But when the fuse blown its like entire car shut off for a second and come back. I wonder how can I found where exactly is the problem but guess can buy some shortcut tester and try with it. Thanks 🙏

Octavia MK1 2003 1.8T AUM - Fuse blown
Hi guys I have a weird problem. When I drive the car for about 20-25mins it blows number 43 - which points to engine management. It's strange that it doesn't blown straight, but after some time driving and it drives me crazy. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Xenon to Led conversion
Hi Guys, I'd like to ask if somebody successfully replaced xenon bulb with led bulb. I've bought these for direct swap, but when I try to start the headlight it turns off automatically. Also I haven't cut any cables or so, just replaced the bulbs by using the original ballast. I guess I might be supposed to some other changes or buy another workings bulbs. Any help appreciated!
