  1. Thanks @chimaera I took the panel off today to get a look at the part number (3T0 827 566 C for those that may need it in the future). After I got the ones around the bottom (and side under the window) the 4 central ones came away in one go Turns out it snapped a pin in the connector and so wasn't making connection. I've checked the car side of the harness with a paperclip and that worked as expected. New switch ordered from eBay for £12. I've left the panel off though to make life easier for when it arrives!
  2. Hello Folks, The switch / handle / release button on the rear tail gate has gone from intermittently not working to just not working. The boot opens fine on the fob, so I know the lock is fine. I need to order a new switch (can anyone confirm the number for me?) and I need to remove the interior trim panels. When I tried this previously; I couldn't get the lower section to release the clips by the window (managed to get it off by the lock). Is there any tips for removing this without breaking it? Thanks
  3. I've just had to isolate for 2 weeks as one of my young children has contracted covid from school. Yesterday I was allowed out and on the way to work found my car in a fun place Leak up at the top of the a pillar and down at the foot wells Left front xenon sensor failed Led failed on Speedo needle I've ordered a new level sensor and will fit that myself. Went to tackle the roof leak this morning and I just can't find where its coming in from. I've got the roof lining pulled down and pouring pints of water over the roof in one go. Can I get it to leak, can I find an obvious point of entry due to water damage, can I find any dried pools that could be a contributing factor? Nope! On top of this the motor sounded like it was trying to kill itself when I closed the roof. Nothing blocking it. Had to manually close it and can feel the gears skipping internally and it gets stiff at certain points. I was having problems with it not pulling the back closed when it was popped. Does anyone know if you can replace the motor on its own? I'm mightly peeved right about now!
  4. That had the bee sting aerial, my current one doesn't have the bee sting. It's pure shark fin. Is there another one?
  5. I know DAB has nothing to do with the satellites in view, I need to replace the aerial due to the satellite receiver failing. If I'm going to replace the aerial I want to get the option with DAB (so that I can add a DAB receiver to the Android head unit I put in recently - as per my first post.....) As I have an L&K I also have the freeview tv receiver in the boot; i'm not sure if this is a separate aerial or whether it uses the DAB aerial, It's not clear.
  6. Hi Folks, I am missing satellites and using a spare one in the window. I want to replace the aerial on the roof as I don't like the stick on aerial. I have GPS, GSM and I also have a TV in my car; does that mean I have a DAB aerial? I'd like to fit a DAB aerial for adding one to my android head unit. My google-fu is failing me on this one? Thanks
  7. Hi, 62 plate (pre-FL) but I think the sound system is the same whether it is pre or post fl. I can get the amp part number tomorrow for you to compare to. I've ordered a radio amplifier to try and fix the poor radio reception. This is what I have fitted: AL169 https://audiotechdirect.com/direct-fit-al169-vw-audi-amplified-fakra-aerial-adaptor/ VW8128V https://audiotechdirect.com/pba-vw8128v-9-android-10-0-after-market-radio-for-vw-seat-skoda/ SMA to Fakra https://audiotechdirect.com/sma-to-male-fakra-gps-aerial-adaptor-cable/ Quadlock extension https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142511420442
  8. This was something that concerned me as well as I like the commands without having to look down to far. But with the bigger screen it is less of an issue than I first thought it would be. I've moved the usb cable to a different slot and still get android auto but it is charging correctly. So far so good. Screen is more reflective than the old Columbus screen. We'll have to see how that goes
  9. It is wired AA connection rather than wireless. I believe XTrons do one with a wireless dongle but that would have been around £400, which is more than I wanted to spend.
  10. Installation has been done and I will document here and then answer questions in another post. First things first for those with the Sound System upgrade is to remove the +ve wire from the battery (for at minimum 30 mins) to switch the amp from CAN-BUS switch on to power on off with the key. Next remove the surround from around the radio and the climate Remove the screws and remove the connections from the headunit I also removed the side trim down by the console to be able to run some cables from the head unit for USB expansion. Next I removed the climate panel so I could pass a USB cable through and pop out above the ash tray I then drilled a small hole through the bottom Here's my USB cables for AA and data I fitted the WiFi aerial I also bought the SMA to FAKRA connector for the GPS aerial already in the car The quad lock was very tight and I had to pull a bit of slack through, I would recommend an extension if you can. Moment of truth! Put the battery back on and wait for it to boot! I then tested the radio and got good sound from it. The radio signal isn't as good as the Columbus. My Columbus was showing only a few satellites in view, this was showing 14 and 14 locked on! I took a bit of time to set things up. I added a 128GB uSD card for music and videos. Tweaked the door settings etc. You have to use Zlink app to launch android auto (I was expecting it to auto launch. I found a setting to increase the resolution of Android Auto. I've not used it too much yet; few observations: No nav commands in maxidot SWC work well still You need to disconnect the bluetooth module from your car WiFi is so-so with my home network (Ubiquti Unifi gear) USB port for AA is only charging my P3XL and wife's P3aXL slowly and actually draining the phone - email sent to Audio Tech Direct Needed to swap the doors over
  11. I have finally decided to upgrade my trusty Columbus head unit in my Estate to a HU that supports Android Auto and a larger screen. I've ordered up a AudoTechDirect W8128 running Android 10, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, WiFi etc. I do have the upgraded sound system and will be doing the half hour battery removal to set the amp to switch on and off with the key. I shall be getting pictures tomorrow when I install it all
