New battery time, recommendations?
I have used Tayna several times and always great service. This time however I used Halfords as the wife gets money off via blue light card. It was the same price as Tayna with delivery and 5 years warranty on their own brand. fitted and used Carista to recode to the car. Car starts much better now. I did when I noticed a few sluggish starts on the cooler mornings

MIB2 asking wireless AA A via aawireless dongle
I had a Passat with wireless AA as a courtesy car and it was great for around town. I used the cable for long journeys did to battery drain. I got my Superb3 with MIB2 Columbus and it obviously doesn't have wireless AA. I've checked out a few dongles and there is 3 main ones AAwireless Carsifi Motorola MA1 The MA1 is MIA in Europe still so that left the other two. The AAwireless one seems to come out on top most of the time and their developers helped Motorola with bugs in their device. I've had it for the last week and used it a lot when on holiday in Wales. It's been flawless so far. It's easy to setup and small enough to sit under the front hatch easily. I've added power to my center console box and charge it in there whilst using it. Highly recommended from me!

Maintaining battery charge
That is a very good point that I should have pointed out. I'm used to more traditional alternators but modern LIN ones are a whole different kettle of fish! I've only just got a car with a smarter alternator and so still learning. I do remember being sat in a friends recent S60 with my USB charger (which shows voltage) and watching it switch between battery voltage and charging voltage. You also need to be wary that some recent systems also charge at higher voltages for AGM batteries. The Ford Transit uses a 15V system for instance.

Maintaining battery charge
An alternator is self managing. It uses feedback voltage from the battery to work out how much current it needs to generate. Just drive it normally for over 30 minutes regularly. Consider a battery maintainer that you plug in to keep it in best condition

Removing seat release panels from the estate trim

Removing seat release panels from the estate trim
Hey folks, Been thinking about possibly fitting some extra lighting in the boot as it's woeful on the estate. I don't have seat release on the side trim on my estate and was thinking of cutting them and fitting some of the light units from the boot. I was going to take power from the remove able torch. I've had a go and I can't figure out what I'm missing to remove. I can pull the end closest to the seats out slightly and then move it towards the seats, I just can't seem to release it. What am I missing? Thanks

Dashcam - Which Fuse
This is typically what I use on most my cars. Also if it fails for whatever reason it's not really an issue

Cutting wheel arch longer to allow access to change bulbs
This is sorta what I was thinking or a push in panel grommet. Hole saw it out and then use the lip to hold it in position.

Cutting wheel arch longer to allow access to change bulbs
I must admit I'm amazed at how bad the S3 access is for xenon bulbs. The S2 was a doodle to charge and so is the wife's yeti. We also have a z4 and that has access panels in the wheel arch liners so you can reach in without having to take the wheel off. I was wondering if anyone had modified a wheel arch to take a rubber grommet or access panel to make easier? I think a 100mm hole would be all that's needed.

Still pleased with purchase but concerned over EMS alerts
I believe the existing one is buried deep in the shifter mechanism. That's why there's a replacement add-on that bypasses it

Still pleased with purchase but concerned over EMS alerts
This, I believe, is the microswitch in the shifter. It can be replaced individually I've been getting this on my new purchase and will be doing the repair as described in the above

Tyres for '17 L&K 220 hatch
Michelin Primacy 4 would be a good choice and comes out well. I found the Michelins I ran on my previous Superbs were more expensive but always lasted longer meaning it cost the same! Continental PremiumContact 6 has also come out well in recent tests

Interior LED light upgrade - how to remove the bulbs?
Hi Folks, I pick up my new to me car tomorrow and it currently has the halogen interior lights. It was pretty obvious in the mk2 for how to pop the cover off. I'm not to sure on the mk3. Any tips please and I presume they are w5w t10s? Thanks

Radio upgrade
I used an Erisin in my previous Superb (and now in the wife's yeti). I'd probably go Xtrons if doing it again for the extra support. I recommend getting one with as much RAM as you can afford

Columbus head unit
1) you need to go into the advanced menu and swap it. I think the pin 3368 2) Did you disconnect the fascia and turn on the ignition? If so then the airbag light is part of the airbag circuit. You'll need Carista or VCDS to clear

Had an accident; InsCo want to write it off. Valuation issues
Unfortunately they already have the car. I wasn't aware of these issues and should have done more research. I will be ringing the insurance company tomorrow to get an update from them. It was a non fault accident which is even more galling as i know have a load of bloody hassle from something that wasn't my fault

Had an accident; InsCo want to write it off. Valuation issues
Evening all, My big brown bus was in an accident this month and is currently with COPART for working out if it is to be repaired or written off. They rang today to say it was due to be written off as the repair cost was too high. They valued it at £4800 initially but came up to £5700 about 10 minutes later. The difficulty I have is it's an Elegance with L&K pack so has all the goodies. They're giving me a price for an Elegance which doesn't include all the bits mine has. There is 1 Elegance with L&K pack on autotrader but it's a V6 petrol and £13,000! How's best to value something that I can't directly compare to something? COPART have put some conditions around the search spec (same plate year, same model and +/-5000 miles to my car). TIA for any help.

Amundsen MIB STD2 infotainment system with Android in Superb II
Is it worth gong for a later revision than 5L0035200A? I've got a Superb with the sound system upgrade and the wife has a 13 plate Yeti with standard audio. There is one available locally for £310 and wondering if this is a good price for a 5L0035200A?
