Highway miles are really easy on the drivetrain. Assuming k.young was doing that. If not then he really doesn't sleep much or do anything else lol.

My superb 280 only has 29k miles since 2016 but during my ownership, I had a year of very very short journeys.  Not very good for the engine.  It's still fine and over the 3k/year I do, no oil consumption or not noticeable

I would say the ratio is 60:40 motorway to non motory driving.........BUT........when it's not on a motorway.....It gets pushed on.....hard!!

  2. I just chopprd my 2016 2.0tdi DSG L&K against my current car in January. Can't remember exactly but it had circa. 400k kms on it. I had it on long life servicing and sometimes I had to top up the oil before a service interval...........a couple of wheel bearings and a DCC shock was all that failed on it.

As above, the new map doesn't just increase the bhp to roughly the same as a 190. The driveability improves to probably better than the 190. The torque increase at all revs makes the car stronger in any gear. The power is also usually smoother across the range and less likely to tail off towards the top.

The 190 is more likely to trouble the traction control than the remapped 150

My 190 was a 2016 so had the 6 spd DSG, whereas my 2019 150 has the 7 spd.........it's a weird change from 1st to 2nd in the 7spd, I find............it kinda slips the clutch between 1st and 2nd (this is probably why it doesn't break traction as easily as my old 190.

  4. I have just remapped my 2019 150 tdi.

The figures from all the remap companys will tel you that the car will end up with 185 - 190 hp and 420-430 nm........so actually, slightly more powerful than the 190 version, but I find it is not as powerful as the std 190.

The standard 190 has a bigger turbo and higher spec injectors .

I ran a 190 for almost 4 years and this January chopped it in against a 150, within 24 hours I had the 150 remapped.........it is definitely worth doing....definitely. But you won't have a faster car than a 190.

I find with the remapped 150, I don't really have to rev it past 3k because the torque is so strong now.

At motorway speeds (120 kmh in Ireland) a little dab on the throttle will drop the car to 6th gear and the roll on grunt is very impressive.

    Did I mention it's worth doing !!

i have not heard of any Skoda dealers, anywhere, doing retrofits like this - so good luck.

but if u did manage to find one that will do it for u, it will basically involve:-

    - removing existing USB port in the front to access USB data wiring to the infotainment.

    - removing centre console attached to the armrest storage so u can route the wiring and put the additional USB port in the blank space.

    - spicing into a 5V power source, for the USB hub module.

    - coding in the infotainment to enable the additional usb port.

I have access to a Skoda Tech ......when he's not at his day job......by night, he's a Skoda SuperHero!!

Tis a bit of a hassle, but doable.

If u want to retrofit it, u basically need the following:-

    - 5G003595D - USB HUB to 3 ports

    - 3G0035643- holder of the HUB

    - 5G0035222E - Volkswagen MIB2 Carplay USB/AUX Port Audio Input Socket Harness

Plenty of kits can b found on AliExpress or eBay.

    That's brilliant JR....thanks 👌

Do you think it would come with a massive bill in a Skoda main dealer??? (supply and fit)

It's part of the CAN gateway dataset.

Not something that can be changed with VCDS or OBDeleven. You'll need to create a custom dataset and use ODIS or VCP to update it.

That's not gonna happen anutime soon .........I'll just have to get used to pressing the mode button 3 times after each start.

    I'll be exhausted!!!!🙄

Mine fits an iPhone 14 including cover so roughly 152mm x 77mm

My Samsung S20 fits in fine and charges........I'd say any of these "plus" or "ultra" model phones and it would be a no no.

My USB question has been answered..........the feckin car doesn't have one (an option box not ticked I'd say) but it has the blank where it should be........I wonder how much hassle it would be for someone who knew what they where doing???

If it's factory fitted, then it is usually an additional data port.

    Handy to have.

Mine doesn't have it under the armrest, but I plan to retrofit it one day.

It's requires a USB splitter/hub module, additional wiring and the USB port itself.

I have an AAWireless device, and it sits perfectly above the USB port in the front, next to the phone box.

I can even close the cover to keep it out of sight.

That's exactly where I plan to put the Carsifi Dongle......the dimensions are a little different but it will fit there.

On a different note.......the wireless charging pad looks a little small, are you limited on what phone will fit?

Just read your follow on question. Not to my knowledge it would be low level programming in the system. I used Co-pilot previously and extracted the coordinates and names out using a mapping program. I documented that on the SeatCupra site then used the Skoda trick, yes it's a Skoda trick I was told, you import them in as coordinates to a user POI. Tap the spot of the POI and saves as a destination. That works. The problem is now that VW / Skoda took down the import web based program that people were using. There is a solution, there are some macro excel sheet programs around or you use Poinspector. I use Poinspector and became the programmers unofficial technical author.

    https://poinspect0r.blogspot.com/?m=1

It does need some skills. It can be used to import speed cameras and your own POIs. I run with five categories. The four types of cameras off the paid speed camera database + my own favourites which is the destination file I talked about.

Being a GPS enthusiast I don't trust mapping system POIs they are often out so "I walk the street" using Streetview and Google Maps to get the exact x,y decimal coordinates. That's inline with what came off the Co-pilot export. So I've added to that, some 200+ saved destinations, then keep two cars up-to-date with these.

The car imports a type of dbase file with checksums for POIs. Poinspector and those excel macro sheets you come across import the x,y coordinates, generate the dbase type of file with the checksums in it. That's basically  what the VW and Skoda webpages did when they were active. You can use SQL to open these files up. There was a preoccupation of doing this at one stage in the development of the RNS / Mib units over getting the beep for the speed camera at the right time. Mib2 it's computed automatically, so that history. If you got traffic sign recognition you get plenty of beeps if speeding and don't need a speed camera database.

Thanks a million for getting back to me.

That all seems way above my paygrade.....but thanks for trying to help.

Look in ur infotainment screen for available media sources - if u both USB1 and USB2 options, then the one in ur armrest is the data port version.

Otherwise it will b just a charging port.

I won't have the car until Friday.

I got one of those Carsifi wireless Android Auto Dongles........I'm using it at the moment plugged into the ashtray aux/usb but I'd rather have it out of the way in the armrest storage.  My current 2016 L&K only has the one in the ashtray.
