Software failure not so Superb
Got back home after a three hour trip where all the assist functions had errors after 1 hour. Sooo annoying. I’ve had Skoda Assist out and they’ve logged the errors and I’ll take it in tomorrow and get a hire car. As long as the hire car is acceptable I’ll let them keep mine for up to a month or so but then will have to look at rejecting it. I still don’t know what I’ll get as a replacement vehicle though as nothing matches the price I paid or the features.

Had the update a month or so ago. Had the odd warning that cleared. Done my second longer journey and had the sequence of warnings again. Managed to clear them after turning the ignition off and back on several times. Getting a bit fed up now. Seems I have two options- get Skoda Assist to confirm the errors and let the car go to my local garage pending another update and take a courtesy car meanwhile or reject the car as it’s around 3 months old with an issue I’ve allowed them to try and fix and which hasn’t. My problem is I’ve no idea what alternative I would get and I got an excellent price through Drive The Deal.

My update was done just under two weeks ago and have driven 400 miles over the last couple of days with no errors. Fingers crossed.

Mine after the update also shows 4043 as the software version so maybe this is the newer one that rectifies the problems.

I don’t know. It went in at 9am and they started straight away. Called me at 3 to say it would be completed the same day then at 9am today to say it had finished.

Oh bugger. Mines been done today. Doesn’t bode well. Any chance you could look at the system information and report on the display unit software version as above?

Had mine done today. My system info shows the same as your apart from the display unit/control panel software which in mine shows 4043.

Had mine in the garage for the software update. Took longer than a day and was kept overnight and ready the next morning. Seems ok so far. I have a weird question. I noticed this carpet/trim to the right of the drivers footwell. Could any of you see if yours looks like this (I can get my finger down it) or if the trim hasn’t been refitted correctly?

How long did they take to do the software install?

I called my dealer today to arrange the software update. Could only offer end of Jan. I moaned saying we would be driving distances at Christmas and didn’t want the systems to fail plus having had a Seat before (same garage) told them their appointment availability is terrible so I will contact Skoda and reject the vehicle. Amazingly they found an appointment for next week. Someone mentioned it takes 6 hours. Is this other people’s experience as if it is they say they want it two days.

Dealer only. Someone said it took 6 hours to be loaded.

While it's easier to reject within the first 30days you can reject up to 6 months from purchase if it's due to a fault. The level of "fault" that could lead to a rejection isn't defined but as these are numerous safety features that are advertised as part of the car you would have a strong case. I'm also two months into ownership but have an eye on the six months dateline. Also recent posts suggest the software fix is on its way to dealers.

Thanks for that. It sounds positive.

So after Skoda assist visited and acknowledged the issues and sis they are very common my car went into the dealer. Before they could arrange a courtesy car they called me and said about it being a known software fault that they are awaiting a fix for and that Skoda had advised a temporary fix (remove and reinsert a fuse)l. Picked the car up and the errors have stopped, albeit two of them flashed up separately for a few seconds but cleared. I will see how I get on. If they reappear I will go through the same process and get a nice Enterprise courtesy rent a car (my local depot know me) and leave the car at the dealership and if the software issue isn’t fixed before the 6 month mark I will reject it.

Thanks for that. My 6 months to reject the car will be up in Feb so as long as the fault doesn’t repeatedly reappear before then I think I will hang on.

Given that they don’t have a software release to fix the issue then it’s likely you might experience the same issue and be in the same predicament.

So my Sep 24 Superb started exhibiting this issue over the last few days. Called dealer who couldn’t fit it in for 5 weeks. They said to call Skoda breakdown. They came today and knew straight away. Needs a software update that isn’t out yet but to get into the system and be notified of the update car would need to go into the dealer. He did what he needed to jump the queue and we can drop the car off in the next few days. Dealer must provide courtesy car or Skoda will provide rental Vehicle. Dealer has 48 hours to inspect. Clearly they are going to say we have to wait for the new software update. Suppose I will have to decide whether to wait or reject the car. Partly depends on the courtesy car they give me.
