  1. Hey Everyone ! Total rookie here - just joined the Škoda club with my first ever car purchase. She's a 2013 Octavia Combi 1.4 TSI with the DSG box, pushing 122hp and sitting at around 7,200 miles. Service history seems decent (previous owner kept up with maintenance at 1,094, 2,397, 3,417, 4,361, 4,925, 5,420, and 6,292 miles), but I've been going down the rabbit hole reading about timing chain issues on these engines and now I'm getting a bit nervous. Been dealing with some stress lately, so maybe I wasn't thinking as clearly as I should've when I jumped on what seemed like a good deal. To all you Škoda veterans out there - did I make a decent choice? Would really appreciate any tips or heads-up about what to watch out for with this particular model. Cheers from a nervous new Škoda owner!
  2. Hello everyone, I am currently considering purchasing my first Skoda, specifically a 2010 Skoda Fabia Combi (5J generation) with the 1.6 petrol engine. The vehicle appears to have been well-maintained, with regular servicing at a Skoda dealership every 1,300 miles. While researching, I came across some reports regarding issues with the 1.2 TDI engine. However, I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has experience with the 1.6 petrol variant. Are there any known concerns or common issues associated with this engine? The car I’m looking at seems to be in good condition, but I would be grateful for any advice on potential issues with this model and what specific areas I should inspect before proceeding with the purchase. Additionally, could someone confirm whether this model is equipped with a timing belt or timing chain? Thank you in advance for your insights and assistance.
