Škoda Octavia Combi 1.4 TSI DSG Sequential, 122hp, 2013

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone !

Total rookie here - just joined the Škoda club with my first ever car purchase. She's a 2013 Octavia Combi 1.4 TSI with the DSG box, pushing 122hp and sitting at around 7,200 miles. Service history seems decent (previous owner kept up with maintenance at 1,094, 2,397, 3,417, 4,361, 4,925, 5,420, and 6,292 miles), but I've been going down the rabbit hole reading about timing chain issues on these engines and now I'm getting a bit nervous. Been dealing with some stress lately, so maybe I wasn't thinking as clearly as I should've when I jumped on what seemed like a good deal.

To all you Škoda veterans out there - did I make a decent choice? Would really appreciate any tips or heads-up about what to watch out for with this particular model.

Cheers from a nervous new Škoda owner!

Welcome.

I would not worry about the timing chain if the the car runs fine.

Is there invoices or a record of what was done at maintenance other than oil and filter changes.

Any record of the Pollen filter changed, the Air Filter, the Spark Plugs or the Brake Fluid replaced?

The filters are easy to look at and check and change if needed, the spark plugs might well need changed even at the low mileage,

There might have been a software update done since 2017 if the car was going to a Main Dealers.

This was a Service Campaign on DQ200 DSG,s from 2013-2015.

You could check with a Dealership if that was needed and done.  '34H5;, maybe there is a sticker in the spare tyre well showing done and when.
