  1. Is that the piece on the car frame. Just to be sure before going rooting. Thanks
  2. Apologies for the typos in previous piece. Took off the bot liner to get better look. Nothing coming from the upper parts. But I notice that the seal is much tighter on the passenger side over the curve by the lights than the driver side and def could do with closing Tighter overall. Lie the lid is twisted out if shape slightly. I'm thinking increase the boot stop grommit on the passenger side a little more than that of the driver side might sort the slight twist and even up the pressure on the seal on both sides but still need to pull the bottom by bumper down. Is ther adjustment on the receiver
  3. Hi there. I have only noticed recently the I am getting water on the runner seal where the boot lid closes and it's night to jump the seal as when I am parked the back driver side is the lowest corner as park on a hill. Got in today and tested the seal with boot closed and can slip a piece of string paper between lid and seal. I am thinking it needs a bit more tightening of the boot lid to te seal so from reading the above is there adjusment on the latch mechanism that would allow me to move it up a tad so when it closes it closes tighter. Its a 2017 octavia hatch. Otherwise I'm thinking it's getting in someplace up the lid like the bellows ducts or that sort but think if I star by tightening the latch mechanism as it could do with a tweak. Thanks fir any input.
  4. Called to the garage other evening and they confirmed yes there is a filter on side of the gear box and was changed. The guy is Romanian and nearly dismantled the car to show me eventhough I only called to confirm what I thought had been done.
  5. If they are open I'll ask them this evening and update ok
  6. If I was to tell the truth I don't exactly know but can find out. I'll ask the lad in the garage. Pretty sure there was a filter involved but honestly don't remember.
  7. Forgot till now to update this. Got the filter and oil changed on the gearbox by a local garage just befire Xmas and it seems to have sorted the issue.
  8. Well a week has passed. I made the amazing discovery of a sports mode earlier in week. Bit of a difference in the car ie a bit more responsive. Had no noise all week even when I was in the sports mode for the singular journey. (didn't need to be revving up as the area us full of 50 60 and 80 km zones) . However I was taking off on a hill after a short break from a previous 30 min drive and was stopped talking to someone while still in drive briefly and when taking off the notorious squeak appeared ever so briefly. Suspicions aroused I listened whilst I parked at my own place on a street with a hill. And while straightening up the car going forward to parallel park a little squeak again. Def sounds like a sloping fan belt but need to get checked. Anyway with that in mind I took of up the hill out of my soace and also switched to s mode and too' fit a little spin down the roads. No squeak was heard at the 2 junctions I took off from. Rrurned to my normal spot and as usual finished parallel parking by taking off or mznouvering up hill to straighten the car up and not a sound. Coukd this be a break calipers or disc and pads rubing I wonder as being the dsg I would have em pressed each time at take off and they'd be realising. I have noticed in past a bit of knarling in the breaks at the first stopping in the morning especially if it was wet the evening before parking up. Puzzled for now
  9. Thanks for that. I would never have known I even had that choice until now. I was reading the book and when I hadn't the button I said I must not have the choice. Thanks a mil
  10. I must try that later. I never went pase D ie flicking it down. I briefly tried the manual mode once just to check it out. Thanks for explaining to me. So basically flick it on down past D for sports mode and does it automatically go back to norm once I stop ie shift back up past D to say park P or reverse or R reverse.
  11. That's it there. I assume the s beside the D is for the shifting the gears manually in the +/- ie manual gear selection.
  12. No afraid not. The fact it wasn't in it this am is puzzling tho
  13. You have me lost. On my car I only have a dsg box with the usual P R N D and the plus and minus to side. Around thar I hava a button for lock doors abd the start stop immobiliser. Iv read a few places re the driving modes and liked at the book but couldn't find where one can select these modes from. Be glad to know and also try your suggestion.
  14. No or to be honest I don't know. I only use the the dsg and as far as I'm aware only have one mode. No sign of the noise this morning but I was being a little more conservative with the take offs as on listening more so wasn't gun ho with getting moving per say.
  15. Hi there I just noticed a short squeaking sound from my 17 octavia 1.6dsg taking off. So checked a few times and from a dead start ie 1st gear there is this short squeak that disappears once the revs increase and def gone by second gear. Historically would have said fan belt slippage but little Knowledge of dsg and just wondered could it be something more serious announcing itself ie dsg or clutches. Running fine otherwise. Thanks for any exp or input.
