Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
When I got the battery tested it was down to 71% of it's performance when new. I believe 70% is when a battery is classed as "dead" / in need of a replacement. The dealership initially said that batteries are not covered under warranty, but after some pushing they agreed to replace it. This was a couple of months ago now and since the new battery was installed stop start has worked flawlessly and I have not seen a return of that particular message.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Quick end of the week update.... The dealership initially said "the battery is not covered under the warranty, but I will speak to the head of business to see what we can do". I have subsequently had an email from them to say the head of business has authorised the replacement of the battery at no charge to myself. I am going to ignore that it is worded like it's them doing me a favour and take this as a win as it could have been so much more painful with them. Once again, thanks to all the people offering advice here, it helped me get to where I am now! Finally, after reading all these posts about people not taking care of their batteries as an ongoing concern, can you recommend anything I should be doing once the new one is fitted to ensure it's kept as good as it can be? Thanks again everyone (and happy weekend too!)

I could not find the option to edit the above post, but Pete has confirmed that the battery appears to be the original battery.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Thanks for the reply, I will try and add a bit more info based on what you have said (although I am far from a car expert and a bit confused by some of the points you mentioned here). Car Details as follows: - Year - 2019 Model - Kamiq Trim - SE L Engine size - 999cc Fuel - Petrol The guy at the garage seemed to think that it was probably the original battery from what he could tell, but I guess you can never 100% be sure from a visual look. If I am understanding your question correctly, when they did the scan, they looked at the values on the battery label and entered those as the parameters before the test started, rather than looking at what had been coded for the battery. I will send Pete a message to see if he would be able to assist and will post back if he is kind enough to assist. I am wondering if at this stage, with all the faffing round it it's just worth cutting my losses now with the dealership and replace the battery myself as the percentages here seem to imply its closer to being a "bad" battery than a good battery now.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Morning All, It's been a while since I posted, so I thought I would update on the latest state of play with the stop/start issues. After a few weeks of waiting, the car finally went back in last week to have a few things sorted (which to be fair, were sorted out no problems), however, once again, they said they could not find any fault with the battery or stop/start as no errors were being logged. They apparently put it on charge whilst it was in as well (not sure how long they had it on charge, as due to a shortage of staff, they had the car for going on 1 week), upon collection, the stop/start seemed to work perfectly for a few days, until last Friday. On the way home from work, I ended up in stop/start traffic for about 20 mins and after 7/8 interventions of stop/start the normal "power consumption high" message returned and stop/start did not kick in again for the rest of the journey home. Saturday, I headed down Altrincham way (100mile round trip, 95% motorway) and the same "power consumption high" message persisted all through the journey and stop/start never kicked in. Sunday/Monday this week stop/start was intermittently working along side regular "power consumption high" messages, so I stopped off at the local garage, who have always done service/mot on my previous cars for them to do a proper battery test. Attached are the results of the check and as far as I can tell from reading them, what he said and what Dr. Google says (although I take what he says with a pinch of salt generally), although the battery states "good", it is borderline and 1 or 2% lower and the reading would be a flat out Low. This test was performed with a "professional" external battery tester with the battery disconnected from the car after a period of 20-30 minutes parked up. I also managed to get a pic of the full battery label when the battery was disconnected as well should that be more helpful that the last image I posted. All indications are that the battery is the original one. Hopefully with this evidence I may be able to go back to the dealership and force them into changing the battery under the 12 month warranty the car came with (fingers crossed!)

Skoda Kamiq stop/start fault and associated screen fault
I think that is just showing that the break pedal is being pressed. If I remember correctly, it also shows the indicators flashing when on that screen - possibly other things too. I guess that screen is a "live view" of the car.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
I found that when comparing the plug-in with multimeter direct to the battery, the values were not a million miles off. With what you have said above now though, I'm not sure what the next point of call should be, the dealership said battery was fine as did Halfords and I suspect all the dealership will again say is battery is ok, we can't fault it.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Thought i'd give a quick update as it's been a few days since I posted. With the second external battery charger I used (which I know was working as it was used the previous day to charge a different battery - not fitted to a car mind - and reported "green-fully charged on that battery), I left it on overnight and it charged the battery to 12.7v*, but never recorded the battery as being full, as the indicator light remained on amber. Arrival at work (after 30-ish mins travel) battery remained at 12.7v*. After an 8 hour day, checked battery before turning engine on and battery reporting as 12v* Arrived home and battery reading 11.9v* However, each day this week, the temperature has been a lot higher and as a result, every day this week, the stop/start functionality has worked perfectly as expected. So, maybe there was never really an issue with the battery and it was, as implied by the dealership down to temperatures. One to keep an eye on I guess but for the time being, I am not going to think too much more about it and see how it goes. Thanks once again for everyone's advice though, very much appreciated. *(voltages checked with plug-in tester into cigarette lighter socket.)

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Stranger and stranger with this now... Checked the reading before I set off from work at 16:30 and the reading was 11.9 (exactly the same as it was this morning). All the way home , stop/start functionality was available and working ! So I'm even more confused now. I've also found that the battery charger I posted earlier is faulty and not charging correctly (as confirmed by checking it in a fully charged battery) so I've got another one to try this evening that I know is working. It may not even be a battery issue after all this considering it was working again this afternoon and maybe it is just so so with the temperature at the moment....who knows at this stage (well I certainly don't!) Couple of photos as well of how the terminals look on the battery.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
The figures quoted were taken using the plug-in 12 checker (again - i know not totally accurate, but better than nothing at the moment) The battery was attempted to be charged with an external battery charger (mains powered) (image of that attached). I've not checked the figures whilst driving with the plugin digital thing, just before turning the engine on and after it was turned on. I don't want to go against what you have said, but I am not entirely sure what good it would do putting it back on charge again this evening, as I was in and out during the period of charge from Sat night to yesterday tea time and the voltage did not seem to change for hours once it got to 12.2v. I did not look in detail at the connections, but it's one more thing I can check this evening. The Kamiq does not appear to be listed on that link currently, would it be safe to assume its the same as one of the other makes on there?

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
The reading this morning was taken after I locked (and left the car alone) at 17:30 ISH last night, so plenty of time for the vehicle to have shut down.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Me Again! Quick update from over the weekend.... I popped the battery charger on over night from about 10pm on Saturday night, checked it periodically through Sunday and the voltage got up to 12.2 after the best part of 18 hours charging (and never reported that it was full). So, after that period I ended up taking it off charge and immediately, the volts went down to 12v. Checked again this morning (around 7:20) before staring it up and voltage down to 11.9v Drove to work and checked it again as I got out of the car (7:55) and the voltage was 12.7 All through this journey the infotainment system reported "power consumption too high" and stop/start failed to engage once. I am guessing that the alternator is working ok as the battery is charging on the journey to work, but 11.9 seems to be quite (very?) low.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Thanks again for all the new info, people here are great, especially to new people who probably ask age old question! I did check it again this.morning and it's still showing 11.9 with the 'plugin' volt reader and slightly higher with a volt meter directly on the battery. I've loaned a battery charger off my dad and I'll pop that on overnight tonight to see how theyit as it did indicate it needed a charge. I didn't see much identifying info on the battery to be honest, but took a couple of photos anyway of what I saw, maybe they are what you needed, apologies (Also, stop start did seem to work again today more regularly after the day got warmer, so who knows what's going on!)

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
Well, Halfords have said there is no problem with the battery and it's currently is as it should be according to their voltage meter. I'm going to check it again in the morning though after an evening of not being used and see how it goes. Interestingly though, I did a factory reset today and since then, the stop start has worked each and every time I've stopped, which it has never done before. Maybe when it was in the dealers they did some sort of software reset / code update and now after a factory reset on the infotainment screen it's picked up something that has allowed the car to correct read everything. I did forget to photograph the battery though today, so I'll ensure I do that tomorrow and post the image here.

Stop/Start issue / Battery Question
I'll take a photo later when the battery check takes place, but the other info... It's a manual, petrol version and it's the SE-L trim model.
