KAROQ RECOMMENDED IN LATEST WHICH BEST VALUE NEW UK CARS
Mrs L didn't get on with the driver position in the Elroq compared to the Karoq and certainly preferred the more traditional interior of the Karoq to the iPad focussed approach in the Elroq. £30000 is an interesting marketing ploy but to get one with equivalent range (something the Elroq is advertising itself as) and with the same bells & whistles as our new Karoq Sportline would have taken us well over the £40k 'luxury' car tax bracket. All in all, I'm really happy with the Karoq & hope I'm still saying that in a few years time 🤞

New car time!
You can close the electric boot using the switch on the drivers door by pulling and holding the switch until it’s closed. Note that if you release the switch, the movement of the tailgate will stop.

Instrument cluster brightness
When I first got my new Sportline I drove it a few times at night and didn’t seem to have any problems but last night the instrument cluster seemed to be exceptionally bright, verging on distracting. I’ve looked at the vehicle settings and scrolled the brightness setting all the way to the left but it made no difference at all. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I’m sure it’s something I’m doing wrong but I can’t work out what 🤷🏼♂️

After market Towbar challenges?
Fitted, working and very pleased. £1600 in total (I missed that they hadn't included the VAT on the labour charge 🤦♂️) I've attached the parts list in case it helps anyone else.

After market Towbar challenges?
OK. So good news. Skoda Customer Services responded to my enquiry and then spoke to my local dealer providing them with all the details they needed in terms of parts and coding. It's not cheap (I didn't expect it to be). £1500 incl parts, labour & VAT. It's being fitted on Thursday so I'll let you know how I get on 🤞

After market Towbar challenges?
Thank you. It was your post I was referring to. Richter were very helpful but are currently unable to source the kit. We didn't even get as far as the coding conversation (although I suspect they would consider coding as a core part of the folding unit). I've written to Skoda UK making the same points. I'll share any reply I get from them.

After market Towbar challenges?
Hi folks, Sorry for the 'new' version of this discussion but the existing Towbar thread seems a bit stale. I've just received my new Sportline 1.5 TSI DSG and I'm really happy with it. I was originally going to spec the car with the factory fit towbar but seeing that added about 4 months to the wait, I thought I'd take a car (with tow hitch prep) and get one fitted. My original plan was to go to the dealer and have them fit the Skoda electric folding towbar that I could have ordered from the factory but my friend in the service department checked and it's not available to them to fit. Following a link from elsewhere in this forum, I enquired with Richter Automotive in Milton Keynes that had previously fitted one to an earlier model year but they replied and said that Skoda had withdrawn the kit so they couldn't help either 😢 So I thought I would resort to an after market removeable towbar from Westfalia. I've got a local specialist and they said they could fit it. I asked them if they could code it (like they did with the one they fitted to my Yeti) and they originally said yes... I've just had a call from one of their techs who said they are unable to code anything newer than MY23 as Skoda haven't (won't?) release the codes. So I'm back with the dealer to ask them if they can code it. The Tow Bar specialist is someone they use regularly. If they can't / won't code an after market towbar I don't feel comfortable starting the install process. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience? It all sounds a bit anti competitive 🤔

Electric Swiveling Towbar retro fit
This is frustrating. It appears that Skoda have removed the Electric Swivelling Towbar as a retro fit option. My dealers parts department say it is not listed (I'm collecting a 1.5TSI DSG Sportline tomorrow and was hoping to have one fitted - the wait for a factory order was too long. I contacted Richter Automotive too as recommended in this thread and they said that they can no longer find it listed either ☹️ It looks like I might have to settle for the Westfalia after-market removable one instead (and save a few quid in the process). TBF I was happy with the one fitted to my Yeti but was hoping to get the electric swivelling one.

Elroq: Who else has ordered?
Thanks. She sits slightly forward and high. I wouldn't say very far forward but she likes the upright seating in the Yeti (and Karoq) and just felt that the manual seat in the Elroq didn't quite go up enough for her. Interestingly in both our Yeti and the Karoq, we have (had) the drivers seat in almost the same position (front to back) but she raises the seat from where I have it. I was asking what in particular gave her the impression that the Elroq didn't go quite high enough. She couldn't put her finger on it but I wonder if it might be the view of the bonnet. The side profile of the Karoq and Elroq bonnets are ever so slightly different. While the Karoq bonnet slopes down gently from the base of the windscreen, the Elroq one is slightly flatter as it leaves the windscreen before curving down. Perhaps that's giving her a different perspective. More testing is required!

Elroq: Who else has ordered?
Thank you for the swift response! The screen shot you provided above doesn't distinguish between manual and electric seats. Interesting though that they seem to show a wider range of adjustment than the Karoq - Min seat edge to ground - driver is 641mm and maximum is 684mm 🤷♂️ The Elroq isn't showing in the RIDC car database yet. I'll ask them and see if they can get one. Looking at current 'stock' levels it doesn't seem like a 'popular' option.

Elroq: Who else has ordered?
Has anyone been able to compare the seat height adjustment range of the standard (manual) vs electric seats in the Elroq? My wife and I test drove yesterday. We currently have a Yeti which we both love and both drove a Karoq and Elroq. I loved the Elroq but my wife said that she thought the manual seats didn’t quite go high enough for her but the Karoq was perfect. It’s almost like it needed one more ‘ratchet’ up. The dealer suggested the electric seats might go a bit higher but didn’t have any examples to test. It would be an expensive mistake to add as an option if it made no difference! I did wonder if the Suite seats might be different too but the dealer suggested not.
