Keep engine active during coasting
Hey guys, Is it possible to keep the engine (1.0 eTsi, DSG) activated at all times (but in neutral) once coasting? Currently my car is doing it sometimes, mostly at the start of trips. It will go into coasting mode once I let go of the accelerator pedal but it keeps the engine active at around 1000rpm. A couple of minutes in the drive it will actually shut the engine down in coasting mode once let go of the accelerator pedal. Resulting in a more wobbly and uncomfortable ride since it takes a short while for the engine to activate. Also the braking seems to be affected with the engine being off, requiring different force of the brake pedal for the same brake force. Is it possible to adapt through OBD that it keeps the engine active while coasting at all times? Turning off the start stop system does not do the trick, it will turn off the engine anyhow. Any tips would be appreciated!

Unable to start - christmas light dashboard
Sounds like mine has the first one in that case... strange that I happened all of a sudden. The first time it happened was the day after a long drive. Last time just after a short drive to the city centre. So best thing to do currently now is to swap the battery out and verify?

Unable to start - christmas light dashboard
Amazing. Thanks guys, the gear lever is indeed also clicking a lot (like it tried to catch a gear but slips), so it sounds like the same cause...

Hmm and you think, looking at the video, this is also related to the battery? Sucks to hear the hoops you had to go through.

Unable to start - christmas light dashboard

Thanks for your quick reply, the thing is, garage checked the battery already and mentioned that it is perfectly fine, and that it will start after 15 minute- isnt that strange?

Unable to start - christmas light dashboard
Hey everyone, I'm looking for advice on a serious, recurring issue with my Octavia. The car sometimes refuses to start. Started earlier this week on monday morning, and just happened again friday evening. When this happens, the dashboard is immediately flooded with a ridiculous number of unrelated error messages, like "Steering wheel heating failure" and "Gear selector mechanism fault." (See video attached). Crucially, after about 30 minutes of trying, the car often starts again perfectly, making it impossible to demonstrate the issue to the technician. I have already had the car checked. The garage confirmed the battery is healthy and fully functional, and they mostly just cleared the error codes. However, the problem has immediately returned. This suggests there is a deeper, structural electrical or sensor issue they are missing. Has anyone experienced this specific combination of starting failure and a cascade of random electrical faults, even though the battery was confirmed good? What was the solution in your case? Looking at the OBD errors is throwing a lot of communication errors and BUS errors. Any help is greatly appreciated! Video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JNNYMWdmguHnAZKLA

Heated Mirrors
Ahh Allright. Do you know if it is possible to maybe activate or change through OBDeleven for example?
-
Heated Mirrors
In my previous car (Ibiza 2016), the heated mirrors would automatically turn on whenever I activated the rear window defroster, even if the mirror control knob stayed in the central position. In the Octavia, however, this doesn’t seem to happen, the mirrors only heat up when I physically turn the knob. Aren’t they supposed to activate together with the rear window heating?

Ongoing P00900 - Fuel Pressure Regulator "A" Control Circuit/Open Intermittent fault
Hi @Fwb1408 - did you manage to resolve this issue? I'm having the same issues as described by you above, mainly on cold starts, on my 1.0 eTSI.

Always on welcoming lights
Hi all, I really enjoy the welcoming sequence of the car whenever its dusk outside, however i would also like to have it just overday. Does anyone know if this is possible with OBD11 coding? Thanks! 20250821_210859_1.mp4
