Hi all, im posting here because you're all really helpful and the Ford forum i tried was as much use as a chocolate fire guard. I have a 2016 S-Max with the 2.0 TDCI 180 PS engine. It needs an oil top up, but I only have the oil for the old Octavia (2013 CR 140). Handbook and oil photos attached, is the 5W-30 that dissimilar to the 0W-30 recommended? Could I use it for a top up before the service that's due soon? Thanks, Sam

As the title suggests, we're about to swap our beloved Octy for a Ford S-Max. With a growing family we need something bigger, and the Kodiaq just doesn't fit the bill. I'll still pop in to Brisky occasionally as it is a nice place to be, but we're sad to be saying goodbye to our 3rd Skoda. See you soon, Sam

BA66ERY on a Tesla. Probably supposed to spell 'battery', but I keep seeing it as 'buggery' HU11ROB is another regular on my commute.

Looks like we've got this issue too on the Amundsen+. It is an intermittent fault, and often shows the vehicle travelling sideways when it is having its funny few minutes. The car needs to be booked in for other issues anyway, so I'll add this to the list.

Sorry for the delayed update. It turned out to be the airbag slip ring, fixed at a cost of ~£320 (mostly part cost, £85 labour).

I'm after any comments on the following problem(s) please - car is a late model Octy 2, built early 2013. CR140, had the emissions update in approx May this year. Yesterday, the display started to show "Airbag Warning", and the orange airbag light came on. The buttons on the MFSW also stopped working, so I wondered if its a loose/worn connector somewhere in the steering column? Or something more serious? This failure reminded me of a problem a few weeks ago, that may or may not be linked - so here's what happened. Parked car in the morning, no problems. Came back in the afternoon, started car, couldn't get it in gear. Multiple attempts, tried all gears, turned off and on several times - no difference. Turned engine off, selected gear, kept clutch down, attempted to start it - car kangaroo'd forwards, so obviously clutch wasn't dis-engaging. A few more attempts, gave up and rang for breakdown. 40 mins and 2 cups of tea later, RAC man arrives, problem completely gone. Several tests, still no problems. RAC man changes failed DRL bulb, and disappears. No further issues until the above airbag thingy yesterday. Any ideas? Are the 2 linked, or just co-incidence? We weren't planning on changing the car just yet (although a Superb/Kodiaq does appeal), but is this the beginning of a series of expensive failures? TIA, Sam

Thanks Nick. No washing or dressing as was only minor, but still some soreness and loss of mobility in neck & shoulders. Lost earnings for me are carefully logged as I had to take leave for the initial hospital trip and car deliveries/collections (yes, plural!). I was just curious about her 'lost' hours - in her own time, as she was on maternity leave for most of the treatment so far. I guess it'll be covered under 'pain and discomfort' in whatever compensation they offer - we haven't discussed details yet, they wanted to know more about the ongoing diagnosis and treatment first... She's now back at work, so any lost earnings will be easy to claim. Thanks again, Sam

Following an accident in January, my wife has been receiving regular physio, paid for by the other party's insurance company. They've also indicated that they'll pay out of pocket expenses, such as my lost earnings for taking them to hospital, hospital parking, her mileage to physio sessions etc..., but what, if any costs are they likely to pay for her time to attend these sessions? Is it calculated on an hourly basis (approx 80-90 mins per session x No. of sessions), or is it likely to just be bundled into whatever compensation payout they offer? If its calculated at an hourly rate, what rate is reasonable to ask for or expect? As its her own time rather than work time there isn't an obvious hourly rate, so is there a standard rate? The Misubishi Outlander PHEV is £29k - £41k, so I'd expect the Skoda to compete with that. Probably starting ~£30-31k?

The new ones (2015 onwards) have gone back to the sensible way. I had similar views on my Corsa courtesy car a few months back...

My wife and I are only a few years younger, and with 2 small boys - this made very difficult reading but I can't begin to understand how you must be feeling, you have my best wishes. I'm sure that the Briskoda community will help in any way we can, but please do speak to a professional to help you all get through this.
